Giuseppe and family have created a lovely, family oriented resort among the olive trees. We loved the hospitality and friendliness of the staff. We enjoyed the dinners of local favorites cooked by Giuseppe's mother.
We were there for a christening celebration, so there was a fixed menu. Unfortunately the service was horrible. Each women was never served first or some people had to wait too much time for own plate without to eat together with the other. The food quality is enough low. For this kind of celebrations unfortunately I advice against to choice this structure.
We spend four lovely days in the Masseria Montevergine and we couldn’t be happier. The food in the restaurant is absolutely outstanding and cooked with pure love. We had by far the best “cooked pulpo” in our life. The rooms are also very clean and have a high standard. Remarkable was the breakfast which was also on of the best ones I have had in Italy so far, the homemade Bruschetta is a must :) Thank you for this great experience!
Great family run resort! Our hosts were charming and very helpful with options to tour in the area. We also did an olive grove tour and olive oil tasting with the owner. The rooms were beautiful, spacious and modern. The breakfast buffet was delightful with varieties of cheeses, salami & a daily bruschetta! Even the option to make panini if desired. Numerous desserts plus fruit & yogurt. The coffees were made to order. We also had dinner a couple of times which was great & the menu changes daily. The house red wine was very good so we purchased some plus their very own olive oil.
This was our first stop in our southern Italian road trip. We liked the balconies off our spacious rooms and the breakfast was outstanding. The wine and evening meal were also excellent. You are staying at a place that is the family home so you need to be prepared to share your space with the family. When we asked for help finding info about Lecce, the owner was very helpful in drawing us a map to follow or when we asked to have a tour of the olive grove and a tasting, he accommodated us. The weather was windy and cool when we were there so we did not make use of the pool area. If we returned, I think we would be more inclined to stay in Lecce or Otranto so we could have wandered around the town before and after evening meals. This location seemed a little remote since we had to drive to get anywhere, but if you want to be away from the city, this is a good choice.…
