The hotel is in the middle of this lovely village, which seems to be the last stop on the road into Austria. It is close to Schliersee, Tegernsee, Bad Tölz and Wendelstein mountain - it's worth taking the cable car up on a clear day. It is easy to reach from Munich. The hotel has a spacious feel. Our room was very pleasant with good-sized en- suite. Everything was very clean as you would expect. The breakfasts provided everything anyone could want, and wonderful coffee! We had an evening meal there a couple of times and were v pleased with it - lots of choice. The staff were great. The area is frankly gorgeous with lots to see and do. Try Winkelstübl for an unforgettable coffee and cake experience - it gets very busy: think Tesco's on a Christmas Eve. We enjoyed our walks round the village after dinner as much as anything. We hope to go back.

Since the monastery Scheyern, which took over the hotel, is back in top shape. Elevator was built one, parking with electric charging possibility meanwhile available. Other than one might suspect in the description, there is a restaurant with very good cuisine in the hotel, also the breakfast is plentiful and partly organic quality. Rooms are clean and cosy- with mountain views

Very nice place, clean, well maintained . The value for money fits, absolutely. The description here is a bit misleading, the hotel itself has a very good Bavarian restaurant and a quaint beer garden, with occasional live music.

Bayrischzell is a small very beautiful village surrounded by mountains and stunning scenery. The village was very quiet when we went in June, and there's not a huge amount to do but we went for peace and quiet and great beer and definitely had both!
Hotel Gasthof zur Post was really lovely. It's quaint, pretty and traditionally Bavarian and a lot bigger that it initially looks!

We stayed in the part of the hotel furthest from the main part which I think is the older part, they have been refurbishing the rooms in the main bit but we didn't mind as our room was large, pretty and traditional. And being where it was, our huge balcony had a beautiful view of the mountains.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful despite our lack of German (not many people speak any English so come prepared with a dictionary). There was a bit of lack in communication about breakfast, we didn't know it was included and weren't told, but it is! 7:30-10am in the restaurant through the door past reception. Breakfast was lovely, and the waitress was also very nice.
The beer served at the hotel and throughout the area is of course outstanding. We also had a lovely meal locally at the pizzeria, which we would recommend and there is a good supermarket next door to the hotel.

It's only a 15 min train ride to Schliersee which is a must, go up in the cable car, just breathtaking.
We are hoping to visit Hotel Gasthof zur Post again in winter to see it in the snow.

This is a friendly traditional-style hotel. Good food and very clean(recently updated) rooms at a competitive price. A great location for our walking trip and only a couple of hundred yards(sorry, should be metres) from the train station.
Surprised how few Brits seem to be here. We found everyone to be helpful and friendly, so nothing to find fault with here.

It is difficult to understand (though pleasing to note) why so few English people visit this beautiful part of the world where the quality of everything is excellent, the welcome warm and friendly and the prices amazingly low. 12 of us have just returned from a week's stay at this lovely gasthof. We could not have been made more welcome. The rooms are comfortable and spotless, the position of the hotel is great (in the quiet centre of this sleepy little town) and the food was excellent and copious. As is common in Germany the hotel is family owned and run hands on - Herr Nopper is the chef and Frau Hopper is front of house. We find it difficult to understand how they manage to provide this level of food, service and accomodation at prices probably less than half what you would pay in the UK.
