Conclusion: We can recommend the hotel without restriction.

Perhaps a few suggestions, dear hosts. If half the house is empty, then give the guest the renovated room, the one with the new wooden floor :-) And with the duvets, it's more IBIS than 5-star hotel. "There is no large blanket anywhere in the house," said the nice man at reception. A pain at 1.90m.
And in the restaurant, my suggestion would be to maybe go with the spirit of the times and put at least one vegetarian/vegan dish on the menu. The kitchen performance itself varies a bit. Sometimes the evening meal is very good, sometimes a bit "mixed"; given the standard and the price, you expect a bit more.
The breakfast is a hit. To be honest, my office is in Munich, and I drive out to Aying in the evening to stay overnight for two reasons: breakfast and everyone is so nice to my dog. Maybe I'd change bakers, but that's a small thing. The Brauereigasthof Aying earns my deep gratitude and loyalty above all for one thing: there is no breakfast buffet! You get what you want and it comes on a tray, with warmth. Your feet can stick out from under the blanket at night too. See you soon, greetings from Zurich.

An important thing to note is that there is no air conditioning or overhead fans in the room.

I love the combination between Deutsche Bauhaus and Top Hotellerie.
Costs 250-300€ a night but is worth every cent at breakfast !
The library with the fireplace and the opportunity to tap into beer 24/7 is an experience.
The rooms are spacious and clean. The restaurant also has good dishes, but this restaurant is not cheap.
Breakfast is still traditionally served at the table and this is therefore not a buffet (nice experience!).
All in all a nice hotel and we will definitely come back here again!
