I wish we could have stayed longer in this beautiful tranquil setting. Jenifer and her team looked after us extremely well and the food was homemade and delicious. Jenifer - WE WILL BE COMING BACK!! Regards, Paul & Linzi xx
My partner's parents (who live in South Africa) booked Kromrivier a few months before we stayed here, in November. We'd been to Addo Elephant park previously, and as this was advertised as nearby, they booked a 3 night stay here for 5 of us. The place is nice, and as advertised is out in the middle of nowhere. However, for the price that was paid, this place needs a whole lot of improvements! On arrival, we were greeted by the owner, and advised we had been allocated part of the farmhouse, and the small separate cottage for our group. We were advised the front part of the house had been booked out as well, which was next door (attached) to the farmhouse. When we arrived at the farmhouse, we entered through the kitchen door, and it was like stepping back in time. We thought it added some character. Off of the kitchen, down the hallyway were 3 double bedrooms, and then a door which went into the other accommodation the other people were staying in. We found the door didn't lock, so made our own plan to ensure the guests that were staying there couldn't just walkthrough into our accommodation. Back in the kitchen, walking through the other door was a large dining room, with 2 dining tables, and then through the backdoor, into the communal area with a large braii area, tables and sofas. The communal area had an array of mismatching furniture, which is fine but was somewhat rundown, and other parts of the area were being used to store other bits, such as outside heaters, dressers, etc. On an evening the outside heaters didn't work either. The layout of the farmhouse was a bit all over the place with guests we didn't really know walking in and out of our areas. My partner and I stayed in the small cottage just up from the main farmhouse. The place smelled a bit foisty, but we discovered this was due to a used mop, so we put this outside and the smell soon cleared. The cottage itself was lovely, nice fresh bedding, large attached bathroom; however, the bathroom had no door. It had a doorway for a door, but had a folding, changing screens that we had to move each time we wantedin or out of the bathroom; plus, the screen offered very little privacy! On the 3rd night we stayed we decided to order dinner from the mainhouse, and the service was fab. The ladies set up the dining room for us, and the people staying next door on the other table. There were 3 of them, and 5 of us, and the price is per person. On the website, the price had been advertised as R185 per person,; however, the owner charged us R295 per person! When we questioned it she disregarded it. So when the food arrived, we started serving ourselves from the food dishes on our table, and soon realised we'd been given the same amount of food as the table for 3 guests next to us. Very disappointing meal, and even more diappointed we weren't given the correct amount after paying per head. The farm is also a good 45 minute drive each way to Addo Park.Make sure if you stay to bring plenty food, drink, etc with you. The view of the stars was spectacular! Amazing to watch at night, so clear. The staff were also brilliant, really friendly and very attentive. However, this place is nothing like as advertised, and was a great disappointment to the start of our holiday. We paid a similar price for our stay at another farm stay in Robertson(will be reviewing that soon) and it was amazing by comparison to this place. It needs to up it standards by a long shot, and sort it's layout out, move the junk from the communal areas and put a bathroom door on in the cottage! I'd steer clear of this place, and stay on Addo's site if you can.…
We had a very nice stay in an old furnished guesthouse. The breakfast delivered to our room in the morning was "out of this world"! Well done! The barbecue area, behind the house was a bit open and windy, but we managed to make a nice "potjie".
The farm is a beautiful location and is about 30 minutes from the gateway to Addo National Park. We were warmly welcomed, if we had any questions or concerns we could always contact the landlady. The booked food was incredibly tasty and rounded off our stay perfectly. We can only warmly recommend the farm to those who feel like peace and quiet, cosiness and a special experience.
We have been staying at the farm for three nights and it was just wonderful. As it is located in the middle of some fantastic nature one can really relax and rest. The children can play around and there is even a litlle pool to freshen up when it gets to hot. The service and the food where just perfect. We would always come back.
