We spent a wonderful few days in the care of Imran Saab, who was able to swing us last-minute bookings for a forest rest house and also hosted us at his home, The Ranger's Lodge. He has an expansive knowledge of Corbett, a deep passion for wildlife and a friendly warmth that enriched our trip. Besides some great sightings in his company, Imran Saab's love for birding rubbed off on us and Corbett provided an excellent classroom. The property itself could do with a few tweaks, but Imran Saab's enthusiasm and hospitality makes it easy to overlook them.

Dear Devjyot Hello! Thank you for the much awaited review on the most authentic platform & yes, it is one of the best reviews so far, as I feel thrilled when I am able to inculcate a passion among my guests since I am able to instigate an interest in bird watching in you. I would have loved to work on the "few tweaks" in order to further improvise my home stay although your modest comment will keep me on my toes as ever. Always look forward to having you back for a bit longer, may be late November, for more lessons on birding as well as logging a long list of them since quite a few migrants have also arrived in Corbett then along with plethora of resident ones. In the meantime you should make an attachment with the birds by simply putting water containers out in the lawns as well on the terrace, as the scorching heat would make them thirsty and they would thank you for the noble gesture. Kind Regards Imran

It was a year ago that we arrived at The Rangers Lodge. We were greeted very warmley by Imrans family bringing back so many happy memories of our previous visits. After a very restful evening and an early start in the morning we were off on our first safari's, enjoying the lovely wildlife we were also very lucky to see a tiger run across the road. We also enjoyed a lovely trip to Nanital with Imran and his family. After a few days we made our way on Safari up into the forest to stay with Imran, we had a lovely few days with much wild like to see , including a large herd of elephants crossing the river. We were also very lucky to see a tigress and cubs at a distance. After our last morning we left with sadness especially as the park was to be closed due to the Covid-19 virus. We went back to The Rangers Lodge, watched the news with great interest to be told that India was going into complete lock down, thus we were unable to go out again. Our holiday completely changed we were now unable to go out or return to the UK. Imran was fantastic, he tried contacting everyone who he thought may be able to help us, but with no luck. During our time we had huge support from Imran and his family. We had some lovely cookery lessons from Imrans wife, Kakashan. She also cooked some lovely meals too with something different every day. Imrans daughter would very often cook a european lunch too. so that we would not miss home too much. Imran was the only person to leave to do shopping and always tried to get anything extra for us that we would fancy. He was also able to arrange medication for us when we ran out. Hand washing was always done as soon as he came home to keep everyone as safe a possible. After a number of weeks we were still trying to get home with no idea how and when this would be. We felt quite low and down at times, but with the help and support from Imran and his family we were able to get through. Eventually we had news that we were able to get a flight home which was arranged by the foreign office. What was originally a two week holiday turned out to be six weeks away. We would like to thank Imran, Kakashan and Kadeeja for having us to stay with them. and for as usual treating us like a family member, we shall never forget the kindness and support they gave us through such a difficult time. We look forward to when we will be able to see them all again, and so glad that neither families have suffered ill health due to the virus over the past year.

My Dear Jane & Steve Hello! Great to get reconnected after a while. I missed this review of yours as the trip advisor failed to send me the notification about the activity alert on my page otherwise I would have responded to you earlier. Thank you Jane & Steve for the most touching review as the Destiny, this time, made us all one family, as we missed you so much post your departure on 27th April'20. Yes, from 10th March till 27th April, possibly one of the best times of our lives in more than 6 weeks of tense life!! Besides the review, we have already interacted so much & discussed about the ongoing pandemic, which has brought us now back to September 2020 situation, as the number of cases in a day have almost reached 80K or so. Rest is all fine and eagerly waiting for the time to get reunited once again. KInd Regards Imran

The overall experience of The Rangers Lodge can be summed up as a lifetime memory. As we set on our journey with no expectations other than a short vacation in the midst of greenery we didn't expect to return with bag full of new relations, memories and enhanced knowledge.. and a few kgs on self. You read it right, Khan Saab has given hospitality a new dimension with his humility and his knowledge. He threw open the doors of his house to us not as guests but as family. as one enters the house you get to note that it is the house overlooking the forest and the only one closest to it. Being that what it guarantees is good morning with bird songs and good night with gleaming eyes coming down to graze, or occasional alarm calls or big cats playing out in the open. You can experience it all by just being in the verandah. The walls of the house is no less than an exhibition hall telling you stories of different inhabitants of the jungle. The house is built with love and passion and an in-depth knowledge of traditional, Indian, architectural details and interiors that spreads across the country. It is also evident of Khan Saab's knowledge and experience of this vast country. Time flies in here with umpteen real-life story sessions with Khan Saab over tea, vast spread meals, bonfires. In true Rampur style the table is always laid with a vast spread.. Haleem, nahari, qorma, kebab, biryani, sweets… you name it and it’s there including the simple dal, saag, sabzi chawal. Guided by his knowledge you can never miss sighting the jungle lord and his subjects in his land. Experiencing Corbett without Khan Saab’s company is not experiencing in its true sense. Corbett is not just the land of tiger but is a complete habitat in itself. Hear it from the horse’s mouth and you will learn to value and save it more. With that lesson being learnt, being greedy I yearn to go back again to “our house in the woods”.

Dear Simanti Hello! Although infinitely late in responding to your most authentic review, possibly the best since the inception, the great satisfying feelings have been all around our hearts & souls since your review is absolutely touching!! I am really sorry for missing such a beautiful review, as the trip advisor usually sends an activity alert on my mail, which did not come to me otherwise I would have responded to you earlier. What a great coincidence that I reciprocated your Easter greetings this evening on the facebook while I am responding to your review later in the evening. Hope both yours as well as Ayan sb's parents are doing fine along with the inquisitive little one who had many questions even after returning back. I do not know if I was able to satisfy his inquisitiveness! Simantiji, you have really touched our hearts & I am extremely short of words to express my gratitude for such a beautiful review! I can only speak to you in a day or two to invite you again as house guests. Rest is all fine. Kind Regards Imran

We had wonderful experience at The Ranger’s Lodge specially interacting with Imran Ji during our stay. It is as authentic as it gets with wonderful cottage styled rooms, big courtyard/ balcony upstairs and fresh air to breathe. His house is the last in row right next to the buffer zone. We saw Jackals and Deers in night right outside the property. The place is also a birding paradise. The highlight for us was the Safari with Imran Ji. His knowledge of birds/ animals and trees is simply brilliant and that made Safari worthy. The food was decent but we specially loved the seekh kebab and gulab jamuns. The place is a good community set up with local boys helping in housekeeping and service. It’s an experience to spend time here at The Rangers Lodge while in Jim Corbett- much better than the hotels.

Dear Aseem Hello! I am sorry for being infinitely late in acknowledging your beautiful review on the most authentic platform for the avid & modest travelers. Let me first thank you for the most authentic points in your review, which further highlight its utmost relevance in sensible wildlife tourism. The point of " community set up" especially needs the attention of prospective travelers. Yes, my experiments with local boys during the pandemic has worked pretty well. They not only made some money but have been well trained in hospitality, which will benefit them in their future. This is the living model of "Vocal for local". Rest is all fine & look forward to having you back at your convenience. Kind Regards Imran

What better way to escape the pandemic than a quaint homestay on the outskirts of Corbett's core Dhela zone? The best part is you can opt for a long term stay (Which is my plan for my next visit here) and simply work from the jungles. With wifi, excellent home cooked meals, good conversations, sounds of nature and all amenities available , you can easily make this your home away from home. My parents and I spent an unforgettable few days with the wonderful owner and his family. His knowledge of the forests and passion for conservation is infectious and taking a nature walk with him surely taught us a thing or two (even though me and my folks have spent over 3 decades exploring jungles of India). He is enthusiastic, friendly, humourous and kind - basically, a perfect host :) Go spend some time at his homestay and you would surely keep coming back!!!
