The Residence La Ferriera was absolutely amazing! The grounds are stunning and very well maintained with a beautiful waterfall and stream running through it. We were so delighted with our room. It was rich in history and authentically Italian! Our room was very clean, had comfortable beds, and when you open your window, you can hear the gentle sound of the waterfall. The pool was very nice and it was nice to be able to do our laundry on site as well. The restaurant was very nice and was where all the guests congregated for breakfast and dinner daily and shared stories about what our plans were for the day and what places we had visited. We had both indoor and outdoor seating, depending on the weather.

Virginia was wonderful! She was so patient with us, as we had to rebook our trip several times because of restricted travel due to COVID. She was a wealth of knowledge and saved us a lot of headaches by giving us detailed instructions on driving to, parking, and getting around in Florence. She also made advance reservations for a couple of museums in Florence. She also makes delicious cappuccinos and Americanos!

The food at La Ferriera was incredible! Each morning we were treated to delicious cappuccinos and Americano coffees and a full breakfast buffet with fresh pastries, bread, fruit, meats, cheeses, etc.! Dinners were amazing! The chef prepared a 4-course meal nightly. We were so excited each day to discover what our dinner options were. It was a gourmet journey through Tuscany with foods like seafood risotto, pizza, fresh pastas, rabbit stew, beef carpaccio, lemon sorbet, tiramisu, and panna cotta with chocolate. Marta, Grace, and Aurora gave us the best table service and even remembered which wines were our favorite!

Residence La Ferriera is in a very convenient location. You can reach Arezzo in about 30 minutes, Florence in about 50 minutes and it was about 1 to 1-1/2 hours to Siena, Cortona, and Montepulciano.

I would highly recommend Residence La Ferriera to anyone wishing to stay in the Tuscany region! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all the staff at Residence La Ferriera for making our trip to Italy so perfect! We loved all of you and hope we will be able to come and visit again someday!

This rustic, Tuscan retreat run by Virginia and Thomas is a relaxing escape from the major tourist centers, but close enough to do day trips to Arezzo and Florence even without a car. We were a little apprehensive when we booked through our timeshare as we were not renting a vehicle, but the train station is only a 15 minute (35 euro) cab ride which allowed us to our share of regional sightseeing. Virginia also arranged a wine tasting trip with other guests which included three outstanding wineries in the Chianti region and a classic Tuscan lunch, with wine, of course (170 euros/pp, well worth it). We took a bus back from Arezzo which took about an hour and was about 4 euros per person.

The meal plan includes your typical Italian breakfast of meats, cheese, yogurt, granola, boiled eggs, croissants and pastries. Coffee, cappuccino, espresso are also included. At breakfast you make your selections for dinner - usually a choice of two appetizers, two primi dishes (pastas) and two secondi (meats course). Dessert is also included. The dinners were all excellent although keep in mind the meat dishes are usually a little smaller than what you get in the US. The wine and water were not included in the meal plan however there were many reasonably priced wines on the menu. Water was 2 euros.

The pool was clean and there are chairs and umbrellas around the pool deck. It is a bit of an uphill walk to get to the pool so beware if you have mobility issues. Virginia provides pool towels for the week. We did laundry on the premises (they provide the detergent) for 8 euros. Wi-Fi was a little slow but we were able to connect from our room. The strongest signal was near the lobby. For a weekly stay the towels are refreshed once on Wednesday.

It is a short walk to town. Loro Ciuffenna is a quite medieval village with a few restaurants. There is a farmers market on Monday morning, and there are a lot of cyclist there on the weekend, otherwise there is not a lot of action. It is very scenic though.

If you want a relaxing, rustic, non- commercial hotel experience this is a great place to consider.

This is the 1st review I’ve ever written.... and is it ever late. Almost a year. We were here in February 2019 and it was absolutely amazing. We have traveled a bit but this was are 1st time to Italy. We have always made a decision to never go back somewhere but instead to always go forward and try something different. However, we find ourselves a year later with a trip booked to Lis Cabo wishing instead we were returning to La Ferriera. So we are making an exception to our rule and making a reservation for next February (we always go at our anniversary) to return. This time we will be taking our daughter as we just found Italy and especially La Ferriera charming! The simple things in life make this place amazing, from the coffee and crossiants ti the stories you can only imagine this place could tell. You will not be disappointed. And the owners go out of there way to make your stay enjoyable. We enjoy our privacy and our space was never infringed on by being ask to eat at the restaurant, or go on tours, etc. but when we had questions or requests we were happily met with a response. Thank you for such a special opportunity and we will be back!

We were hoping to find a place to stay in Tuscany, outside of the larger cities, and stumbled on La Ferriera in Loro Ciuffenna. Our 7-day stay there was heavenly! The beauty and Tuscan charm of this little residence inn perched on the banks of the Ciuffenna River was a nature's paradise. From the terraced landscape above the inn, you can look out over the Ciuffenna Valley to Loro Ciuffenna and the rolling Tuscany hills beyond. From this vantage point you can see a lovely hidden waterfall, that then cascades down beside the inn. The service is responsive and helpful and the breakfast buffet and nightly meals were deliciously prepared with plenty of variety. I loved the quiet ambiance of this setting, but also loved the easy access to A1 where we could jump on for day visits to Florence, San Gimignano, Pienza, Montepulciano and Siena. Can't wait to go back!

We were fortunate to have stayed in the Residence La Ferriera in Loro Ciuffenna, Italy for a week. This very lovely renovated 1875 site, which is rich in history as it has been a foundry, flour mill, silk thread producer, power plant and a soap oil factory, has been made into a beautiful Italian resort. The meals were delicious and lovingly presented, the rooms were comfortable, and one could fall asleep listening to the near-by stream. The staff members were so friendly, welcoming and helpful! The location was perfect for us as it was about an hour's drive to Florence and also to Siena. We were able to enjoy a cooking lesson from their chef! The old town of Loro Ciufenna was a brief walk and had some interesting history to learn...dating back to Roman times! A must stay if you are in the area!

First it is important to realize it is in Tuscany, which could not be in a more beautiful location. That being said, the receptionists and daily employees, Virginia and Margarite are the nicest, most helpful individuals you will meet. In addition to them, the employees in the dining area are incredible also. The organization of the meals and meal selections are perfect, not to mention the food was divine! The rooms vary so it is important to ask about a room that will accommodate you and your party. If it doesn't don't hesitate to ask if there is an alternative, Virginia and Maragarite know their way so feel free to ask any question. It was a delightful experience.

This was a time share swap.
We found the hotel superb, typical Italian style, we had a charming room with big balcony overlooking a stream and a lovely waterfall.
The eating area was outside when weather permits, a nice touch.
Lovely clean swimming pool with plenty of sun beds,
We found it a very relaxing and pleasurable stay.
The staff were always polite and nothing was too much trouble especially our waitress Grazia and Francesca, also Tommaso and Virginia were very knowledgeable and lovely people.
The village was a short walk away and was very pretty.
Lovely food every night a great experience,
If you want a nice relaxing holiday or go sight seeing I would recommend this hotel 😀 thanks again Brian and Lorraine x

I will start with the restaurant which was outstanding. The customer service of restaurant staff was top notch. The 2-bedroom villa was spacious and clean. We loved the area because it was convenient to Florence, Pisa, Siena and Arezzo.
Suggestions for Management:
1. The mattress in #7 and maybe other rooms should be updated to a thicker style which would have aided our sleep.
2. Have a Sunday meet and greet. There were no group activities that you would have normally seen at timeshares. This will benefit getting to know your fellow travelers.
3. We would have loved access to a tub.
4. Although we loved the meal board plan, we found the dinners way too long. They averaged over 2-hours. Maybe shorten the experience?
Overall we had a great time and would recommend this place for anyone in search of a true Tuscany experience.

We, like many others, found this place through our timeshare and never expected it to be so charming. As a frequent traveler to Italy, what i love about Residence La Ferriera is the location, the friendliness, the character, the quality, the staff, and the small town Loro Ciuffenna. Sleeping with the windows open and the sound of the water outside is great too. I think this place is better for those not trying to "tour" all the major sites of Tuscany and beyond, but rather to relax and enjoy the natural environment and local places. We did not have the meal plan, but ate dinner several times in the restaurant- all delicious and the atmosphere is lovely. Love the local pizzeria, the gelato, and the walk into the village. Do not come expecting a big modern kitchen, the suites are older and we like them just how they are! One last note, last time we went on the wine tour one day, which was absolutely fantastic and fun! Hopefully all will be better in Italia soon, and we will be back in September.

Hello, what is the cost of the half board?
Answer from Gregg

When we went this summer the 1/2 board (after exchanging through Interval international) was 355 euros per person. This was a great deal and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. I would recommend this.
