Before this palce we stayed at Reganano Sul Arno. At Regnano sul Arno the place was nice but not welcoming at all, besides we had car problems. At one point decided that need to shift environment for personal reasons, we chose out of instinct and moved at the last minute to Villa Belpoggio, the minute we arrived we found a very welcoming Sig Gianni. We shared our concerns and helped us imemdaitely, he went out of his way to ensure that we had all the assisatnce that we required. We than met his colleagues Ginevra, Agnese and Jessica and they went out of their way to make our stay as homely as possible. I recommend this place to anyone who is searching a home away from home, peace and quiet.

We spent a great family week this July in Villa Belpoggio. We appreciated the rooms, the garden/pool, and the breakfast & lunch setting. Above all, we enjoyed the extremely pleasant staff, who were all genuinely friendly, engaged, and helpful.

Just one point can be improved, namely a less introvert attitude of the owner family and their friends; - a polite 'hello' or 'good morning' or eye-contact would make guests feel welcomed instead of ignored.

Luckily, the nice and warm ambience of the staff outweighted this oddity.

Greetings
Torben

Just returned with my son from Tuscany. We stayed over 2 weeks at the Villa Belpoggio, a beautiful country residence half way between Florence and Arezzo. I had found it on the Internet and was braced for a slight let-down when we arrived. In fact, it was everything I'd expected and more.

The location (just outside the lovely village of Loro Ciuffenna) is central and it's easy to get to all the great sites in Tuscany: Florence, Pisa, Arezzo, Siena, San Gimigniano. The villa is nestled in an olive grove in the Tuscan hills where it's pleasantly cool in the evening (we hardly ever turned on the air conditioning).

The accommodations are more than adequate (I'd rented a 2-room apartment), newish and clean. What a pleasure to have breakfast with a view on the Tuscan hills!

Breakfast is great. The villa has no restaurant (there are several good ones within easy driving distance) but will prepare a dinner on request (good Tuscan homecooking).

I not only recommend Belpoggio but plan to return next year.

Villa Belpoggio is a five star treasure only a half hour by train from Florence. It is an immaculately restored historical villa surrounded by beautiful olive orchards. It has 360 views of the surrounding mountains and
valleys. The villa has been restored with impeccable attention to detail. Every aspect is at a level that exhibits the finest taste and quality. Yet, at the same time it is approachable and welcoming.

We expereienced the highest level of service we have ever encountered, even though we have traveled extensively throughout Europe and Italy. Maria, who is the manager, took the time to look after our itinerary
and make sure we knew the best places to explore and tour. She
was thoughtful in guiding her recommendations to our specific interests
and tastes. When visiting other parts of Tuscany, at times it can
feel so touristy and a bit overproduced. This area of Italy, however,
seems to be an undiscovered jewel; and Maria made sure we saw
this authentic Tuscany, a place where people are still living off their land.

During our stay we chatted with guests from many different European countries and they had the same experience at Belpoggio that we did-- a first class experience at reasonable rates. We are coming back.

I've waited a bit to write this review - in order to let conflicting impressions become more resolved. On the plus side is an incredibly attentive staff for whom, no request is too difficult. Without them, your stay would not be as enjoyable. The property is well maintained and in very good condition. The villa's location practically guarantees that you'll hear little or no auto traffic, and is quite pleasant to sit out under the large trees in the later afternoon with your favorite glass of wine.

We stayed in the Abbot's room which had a large in-suite bathroom and a typically uncomfortable Tuscan bed. Our first night was somewhat marred by my wifes' discovery of bed bug bites the following morning. While we have read about this problem, it was our first-ever critter encounter. Strangely enough, there were no repeat attacks.

The in-house Internet proved to be a perplexing issue of our stay, and one not unique to us - Apple computers and iPads, with rare exception, could not obtain an Internet connection. The technician was unable to help and the staff admitted that this has always been a problem for Apple computers - and (incidentally) that most of their customers used Apple computers!

Upon our return one late afternoon, we were simply too tired to think of going back out to find food, and stayed in - snacking on what snack leftovers we had about. It was at that point that we realized that we would have appreciated our time there more had in-house dining been an option.

Comparing our stay here with another property some 40km to the south which had a several pools, a tennis court, and an in-house gourmet restaurant (providing for fine dining under the stars), I would not rate this property as highly as others have.

Villa Belpoggio is a beautifully restored mansion away from the tourist chaos. If looking for a quiet few days in the Tuscan countryside, then this is a great place. The hotel and surrounding grounds are meticulously maintained and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Stunning views of the Tuscan valley below with a beautiful pool. We ate at two great restaurants in Loro Ciufenna - Conte Max and Il Torre.

We booked a very last minute short break to Tuscany, and came across a great find in the Villa Belpoggio. It was a oasis of peace and tranquillity to come back to after a day sigh seeing, having lovely views across the valley of olive groves towards the Chianti hills. The service was excellent, from the upgraded room we were given, to the excellent itinerary planning that was offered. Would not hesitate to recommend, and would revisit.

We stayed here at the end of June and into July. The Villa is really charming – the setting and the views are beautiful. The best part must be the lovely breeze that comes up over the valley to cool you down – this you definitely need during the very hot summer! Sit in the many areas around the garden and totally chill!
The villa itself is stylish. The welcome is the best we ever had – (Although Yolane at Chateau de Verrieres, Saumur, France was special too). Back to the villa, Angese, Maria, Paula, and family are so delightful!. This is a very happy place, and you will feel very relaxed the moment you arrive. The breakfast is very generous, with lots to eat. Cereal, Bread, Cake, yogurt, fruit, pizza, cheese, sandwiches, etc... – You will not be hungry. The breakfast/ eating patio is comfortable, with lovely views/ breeze, just so continental!! We also had dinner here on two nights of our stay. Paula does the cooking and the fare is local and well worth a try as you can relax, have the local wine and liqueur and not worry about the police. On the other nights we dined at La Cantinella, down the road ( not safe to walk to this at night – too far and winding). La Cantinella is to die for !!! – the food is the best that I have ever had!! – Really exquisite!! And the setting and staff and so charming – definitely try this. We did venture to Loro Ciuffenna ( nothing here to recommend really) – tried two different restaurants - no – don’t bother! The area around here is interesting– olive groves, lush green vines and winding roads – so take care!, and the Italians drive as they say – like crazy!!
Our room in Villa Belpoggio was large, comfortable, very clean with a great bathroom, including a bath. There are also some apartments on the grounds (2) and these looked spacious – some families were here. The pool area is immaculate –The cleanest I have ever seen – they must check it very often, as not even a fly is present. The road up to the villa is fine, but when you arrive, you will have one little challenge to drive around the tight area to the back where there is plenty of parking. We did lots of touring from the villa – it is in a perfect location. In Tuscany, no matter where you are, you have to travel long distances to get anywhere. We went to Florence, by train – a local station takes you right into the centre, we went to Sienna (saw the Palio, amazing!!), Montepulciano, Cortona, La Verna (serene), all by car - fantastic. The more famous Chianti towns such as Radda and Greve, however, didn’t do much for us?? Not as charming as they are portrayed. The exception is San Gimignano which is atmospheric and true to its history.
All in all a really fantastic holiday and of course the accommodation and welcome made it!! We will certainly return to this wonderful place 

We were part of a group of four couples who spent a week at Villa Belpoggio in November. It is a wonderfully restored and decorated villa in the middle of an olive grove overlooking the Arno valley. Our room was huge, with a very large bathroom. The decorating is wonderful, the villa staff is great and very helpful planning dinner and day trips into Florence or around Tuscany. We would recommend it to anyone.
