We have just returned from a two week honeymoon at Mitsis Rinela and it was exceptional! Every member of staff was so polite and welcoming and were so accommodating to guests’ needs. When we arrived we had been upgraded to a suite and it was spectacular! Our stay was truly wonderful,and our suite was modern and well equipped. We had 2 kettles and coffee machines, a fridge that was restocked every day and two bathrooms that were well stocked with toiletries. The showers were hot and provided good pressure and there was always plenty of towels. The bed was comfortable and the lighting system was good.
Each day our room was serviced multiple times if required and the cleaning team was very thorough. Every part of the hotel was spotlessly clean, and the team were always cleaning. We had a shared pool with our suite and it was cleaned daily and the area around the pool was cleaned daily too. The Sun loungers and circular Sun pods were of the highest quality too. The maintenance team were finishing off parts of the renovations but there was no excessive noise, etc, they were very discreet and courteous. We had breakfast in the taverna every morning, and were always welcomed by either George or Malina with a huge smile and greeting. Magda was our waitress most mornings and we requested to sit in her area as she was so friendly and attentive and generally kind. We really appreciated all of the staff at the taverna. All of the restaurants provided high quality service and food and the staff remembered us, even though they must’ve been serving hundreds of guests each evening. The beach was clean; the sun loungers were well maintained and we had access to clean beach towels every day.

We were impressed with the service from the car hire company within the hotel too. It was inexpensive and the car was in good condition. There were not a great deal of shops, restaurants or bars out with the hotel but there were a couple of supermarkets close by and also a well stocked mini mart within the hotel.

There were a few niggles that could have been better but we would still consider it a five star hotel and would go back. The WiFi was exceptionally slow and often not working in our suite, and 4G only worked when the door was open. The WiFi worked better in communal areas of the hotel though. We noticed that some of the waitresses and waiters appeared to be quite inexperienced and the more experienced waiters and waitresses were having to guide them quite explicitly, giving people such as Magda and George extra work to do.

This is an excellent hotel and we would highly recommend.

Despite multiple days of thunder and lightning storms we had a wonderful time at the Rinela. Temperature checked each time we entered the restaurants and hand sanitisers located everywhere.

I had a great 2 hours at the Spa, facial, body mask, body massage and scrub, usually €220 but for €125 as part of a special offer. If you book a treatment within 24hrs of arriving you get 24% off full price.

The food was excellent and worth booking to visit the Taverna and Pan Asian restaurants where you have table service. Booking opens at 11am each day for the following day on the iPads in the reception and you have to be in line and quick to get a slot. I am 7 months pregnant and the staff would not let me queue for food, it is hotel policy (although it embarrassed me!). I’d suggest avoiding the busy times at the main restaurant though.

Staff and service was impeccable. Some of the evening entertainment was cancelled due to the storms but we enjoyed what we did see, and they had live piano every night in the main building which was great. People typically wore masks when walking around inside the building but not when outside or seated indoors.

It could be hard to get a sun lounger on the beach or pool on hotter days if you weren’t there before midday but we always managed to find a space.

This was our first all inclusive experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it! It was perfect for what we were after and totally relaxing. We would wholly recommend!

This hotel was recommended from a friend of ours, who visited the hotel last year and only good words had to say about the whole experience. We are so happy that we listened to him, because we spent the most beautiful week of our lives!
First of all, we were free upgraded and we got ourselves a super cool 1st floor room, a nice balcony with an outstanding seaview and a sharing pool! For free! So, this is a nice way to start your holidays right!
The ladies at the reception desk were all super friendly, helpful and eager to answer all of our questions, since it was our first time in such a big hotel.
Our room was so clean that at first we wouldn't even touch somewhere! The cleaning service were never late, the bathroom was always made up and the room was so quiet, that we thought that we were just us in the whole floor!
The food was delicious. As a matter of fact, we mostly loved the food in the Main Restaurant, because every night there is something different, dishes with cuisine from all over the world are served and we liked the "buffet" thing, that we could see what we were about to eat! Of course, the a la carte restaurants were something above imagination! Luxurious dishes, another quality of service, the waiter asked us if we liked the food, the wine was perfect. We were totally satisfied!
We were also be able to play tennis, which is our favourite sport, i participated in the pilates team programm and i loved it! We booked the massage service, which was reallt relaxing and refreshing. So many options, so many facilities!
In fact, i really don't have the feeling that something went bad here. We had the time of our lives in this hotel!
Next year we are planning on visiting Rhodes, and we will 100% be staying in Mitsis Hotels! I definitely recommend it! Well, well done! Keep up the good job guys! 🤗

Just returned from an 8 night stay with my partner including 3 young children. We heavily researched this place and were encouraged by the very positive reviews from people who visited last year. However, as you will see from recent reviews on here, things seem to have taken a turn for the worse since the hotel reopened in July 2020

Firstly the grounds are beautiful and very well maintained by all staff. Everyone who works there was very polite and welcoming. However, there is just far too many people on site for the facilities available. This is despite being reassured reassured the front desk on arrival that the hotel wasn’t at full capacity as they weren’t currently permitted due to Covid. I’d hate to experience the hotel when it was full!!

We had a superior family room in 200 block which meant we had own private pool. This was the saviour of our holiday as the communal pools and beach area were rammed by 8am so it was impossible to get beds unless you wanted to get up at the crack of dawn. Our room decor was ok, quite big and cleaned everyday but the hard working maid.

If you can get a reservation in the taverna or pan Asia the food is very good. Unfortunately due the amount of people trying to avoid the main buffet restaurant getting a reservation is near on impossible via the hotel website. Bookings open 48 hours in advance at 8am each morning and normally are all taken by 8.10am. I have been to various AI resorts around the world and have never experienced such a ridiculous system. There were people lining up in the foyer from 07:30 to use the hotel iPads because the website wasn’t working. Who wants to do this on holiday? Just too many people trying to book these

The bbq and pizza food outlets are pleasant so we found ourselves eating takeaway lunch from their most days. We managed to avoid the main restaurant for breakfast as having private pool room meant we could eat breakfast with no reservation at the taverna each morning.

Drinks are hit and miss. Most of the spirts taste like paint stripper. You can get some branded drinks but you need to ask for these. Beer was okay though. Entertainment was lacking, and very repetitive. What we chose to watch in the evenings was dictated by where were likely to get a seat, not by what we actually wanted to see

Overall, we had a pleasant time, because we made the most of the situation. We ate out for 5 of the 8 night we were there. Not something you should need to do when you pay a premium for an AI resort. I would strongly recommend a visit to the Pepper Grill and More Restaurant which is about 15 walk away. Excellent food at good prices.

We won’t be returning to this resort. If management we’re willing to sacrifice some profit by having less people on site in exchange for more facilities this could be a really good resort

I came to mitsis rinela With my boyfriend for a week and met up with my family there too, the hotel itself is lovely and in a good location near the airport, we arrived late in the evening and got to our room which they then gave us 2 single beds which we paid for a ‘double room’ they then told us they don’t do double beds unless you stay in a superior room which is an extra €80 a night. They put something over the top of our bed to make it a double which was okay I guess. We didn’t have a plug for our bath as apparently they don’t have any plugs to give us as it causes leakes and can only have a bath if you have a room on the ground floor. I had to complain about multiple things throughout my stay and every time I spoke to someone they were rude and didn’t really care about my problems. The hotel was packed and couldn’t get any reservations for the two restaurants so was left eating at the buffet every meal which was very average food, the queues for the drinks and snacks were ridiculous and we had to get up early hours around 7 to get a sun bed Every morning. There was no social distancing whatsoever and the pool closed way too early which meant my younger siblings then had nothing to do after that. Overall it was not worth the amount I spent for the week sadly.

Originally we had booked the Mitsis Laguna, but only found out that it was closed and we were to be transferred here a few days5 before we travelled. As this was a less expensive hotel we were upgraded to their new rooms and were offered some other 'VIP' facilities. I am a Mitsis card holder so qualify for similar facilities, but I am not going to split hairs; it was nice to be compensated in some way, but not sure the upgrade covered the price difference.

Anyway, the room was new, well appointed and lovely; no complaints. They key issues here seem to be mainly Covid driven. The main restaurant was poorly organised at times with long queues and poorly positioned food combinations. The Covid rules are not the hotels fault and I forgive them the queues, but it does not excuse some of the food being luke warm and of average quality. Coffee was often luke warm too. I have stayed at Mitsis hotels before and this was unexpected. Many guests were complaining and in fairness things did improve during our stay. The Asian restaurant was good, but the Cretan (whilst a lovely setting with nice staff) was a little disappointing. Room service was okay though and the Champagne and Sushi bar was good. I will add that the water and soft drinks that came from the 'guns' in the bar was very poor and often tasted like chlorine. We complained about this several times and it eventually improved. I was staggered that they couldn't get to grips with flushing the drinks guns through correctly. I suspect the whole experience was better pre-Covid.

The hotel itself was very clean and the vast majority of staff were professional and helpful. Names that spring to mind are George at the small pall bar, Georgios in the Champagne Bar and Christos in the Lobby Bar. I must say that surprisingly some of the reception staff (not all) were abrupt and unhelpful. Again this is unusual for Mitsis hotels.

The hotel was at 70% capacity when we arrived which worked with the Covid measures, but within a few days it was full. My concern is that this is against Greek Covid Protocol and social distancing became impossible in the restaurant and bars (and the pool). The open air theatre bar was never opened in the two weeks we were there (so no entertainment apart from live music in the Lobby Bar), so the whole hotel ended up struggling to get a seat in the evening. Had the other bar been open, it would have been far more comfortable and guests could be accommodated safely and comfortably. In summary, too many people in the hotel and poor organisation making the evening experience more difficult than it should have been.

Overall my family and I had a nice time and enjoyed most of our stay. The hotel is not five star in my opinion, but could be closer to it if all the rooms were of the quality we had in the new block. Also the standards in the restaurants need improvement, as do the soft drinks. Had this been pre-Covid, I am sure my review would have been different, but I write this in the hope that the management team take note and improve the guest experience.

This was our tenth visit over the course of 23 years we were welcomed again with an attentive and friendly team at Reception. We were pleased to be upgraded to a refurbished room which was fresh, modern with everything you need. Only one recommendation, please provide a flexible holder for the free standing shower head.

The Taverna continues to provide a calm, safe and relaxing atmosphere with thoughtful staff. I missed the fruit, ice cream and cheese options for dessert, but understand it’s difficult in current conditions. Thank you Marinos for looking after us and Liverpool is better than Everton, you won’t win that debate with me! Loved the champagne and sushi bar again too.

The main pool area is relaxing and the pool still as inviting as ever.

This is a great hotel to stay at if visiting Heraklion. I was a bit worried about the negative reviews that were posted around October however it seemed they have resolved any issues associated to this. The capacity was good to allow everyone access to sun beds and places in the restaurants. Food was good, the pools and the sea were incredible. The uplifted rooms are done to a great standard and I would recommend staying in them. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable experience!

Currently staying here at Rinela for a family holiday with myself, boyfriend and 11 year old son. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am with this hotel. Yes the resort and grounds are lovely but this is just a front. We booked a twin room for us 3, on the website it states this will accommodate 3-4 people, we have all been living on top of each other the whole week. Not only this but we were firstly put in room 249 which is the standard and not refurbished side of the hotel, our shower head was brown with dirt, fell down during the shower and the shower door seal was completely inadequate soaking the whole of the bathroom where 3 of us had to shower. I went to reception that night only to be told to come back when the manager is here at 7pm, which we done. Surprisingly the manager was in a meeting at this time, the First Lady I spoke to at reception walked off and asked another to deal with my complaint where I was told there was no other rooms available.. when I told them I wasn’t moving until something was sorted they magically found another room. Again this room was basic and what I mean by basic 2 adults are sleeping in 2 single beds pushed together resulting in one of you falling down in the middle of the night. The bathroom isn’t big enough and constantly has a stream of ants. Since moving rooms when we call from the room to reception for an iron the call is ignored yet my partner will call from
His mobile and is answered straight away. The buffet food is completely inedible, there is no choice for children I.e nuggets and chips what most children eat, my son has lived on spaghetti all week and their chips are basically McDonalds chips that are overly fried! Myself and partner finally managed to book the Greek which we were so excited about only to be yet again disappointed with the food. The gyros are advertised on the menu with salad and sauce however these are burnt pittas with no salad and overly filled with chicken thigh and tasteless mayonnaise, yet to mention the grease on your fingers when eating these. Again no children’s choice, not even a bun to put with a burger. After eating in the evening you go to the lobby bar, there will be tables of 4 with only 1 person sat there, in my experience no staff members would ever let me and my family leave a bar due to no seating but the staff at this hotel couldn’t care less and are more than happy to not serve you. I have never met such rude staff before. Tonight we dined in the pan Asian I have to be honest and say this food was beautiful and the staff couldn’t be more helpful! I feel in a constant battle to enjoy my holiday and has only been a challenge from the start. In summary ultimately if you are going to this hotel and have the chance to change it please do as you will be disappointed. I am not one to leave a review but this hotel is definitely not 5* I have been looking forward to this for 8 months and without the sun I’d have preferred to have stayed at home.

I wanted to review this hotel as average to good, probably 3.5 but definitely not a 4.
The were positives ….the general cleanliness of the hotel was very good. Our room was modern, bed was so comfortable and the cleaners came in every day. We even had clean towels twice a day sometimes (contrary to the eco policy) and the bar was re stocked daily.
Food was good and there were several options during the day.
The drinks (and in particular the cocktails) were good quality
Staff in the dining room were extremely professional and accommodating as were the staff in the main bar. Konstantinos in particular was lovely. We also ate in the taverna and pan Asian and enjoyed the hospitality and friendliness of the We also loved the Porter who was very cheerful and helpful …..he could teach some of the other members of staff about customer service.
Having said how brilliant some of the staff were, we also experienced the pole opposite: there were several members of staff who were rude beyond words and I found myself biting my tongue on a couple of occasions. I have to say that I was also shocked at the basic lack of manners shown by some guests to staff but it certainly doesn’t justify the staff treating guests with such disrespect.
The a la carte restaurant booking system was farcical….I tried to pre book a meal for our wedding anniversary and was told that I had to try at 11am..by the time we arrived at the hotel, the rules had changed and we were told by reception to try booking at anytime! We managed to get into two restaurants but the steakhouse and Italian evaded us as there were never any table available.
On the last day I learned from another guest that you had to speak to the restaurant manager between 9and11 and he would get you in…it had worked for them and others,
We paid for a superior sea view room and for the first three days, all we could see when we sat on our balcony was the back of the block in front with a view of the sea if we craned our necks. They did move us when we complained.
There was the usual laying of towels on sun beds at dawn and people appearing hours later to claim their beds. The beach had beds which were crammed in very close to one another, so not an attractive prospect.
To either side of the hotel were derelict premises so it wasn’t an attractive prospect to walk along the beach. Also the area around the hotel was quite rundown.
We were unlucky to experience an earthquake which was shocking and disconcerting yet there was no reassurance or advice from the hotel.
Not our best holiday…even this year!

Unfortunately, during your dates of stay all our guests experienced an earthquake in the wider area, which didn't affect our resort.
