Detailed Reviews
This hotel is situated right on the beach, perfect for sunbathing or a swim. Nice outdoor eating area and quality wooden sunbeds with mattresses. Breakfast was included and varied, try the Sri Lankan. Staff always tried their best to provide what people wanted. Menu for other meals is reasonable and well priced. Rooms were large and airy, with nice en-suite and large shower area. Unfortunately we travelled to watch the cricket which was cancelled and then we were subject to a curfew (covid 19). This was not the fault of the hotel and the staff were more than accommodating during the curfew. They made us feel very welcome and couldn’t do enough for us. There are undoubtedly higher standard, more expensive hotels to stay in, but you won’t get the proper Sri Lanka experience there. It really did feel like we were staying with family. Thanks again to Prasad, Buddi and Sanji who stayed with us throughout the curfew (along with the other lads who came back when they could). We will definitely be back!!!

After an initial hiccup with our booking all turned out well. Stayed here for 2 nights this property is located right on the beach, tastefully designed spacious rooms and is the perfect place to relax. The staff were friendly, courteous and always there to help when needed. The owner (Asoka) was super friendly and positively accepted our view point on the initial hiccup that we faced.
The menu available was minimum nevertheless the food that we choose to have during our stay was super delicious and very much better than some of the big reputed hotels that we have stayed in.
Will certainly make this our favorite spot for the future.

I loved this place. I stayed for three nights- the highlight is definitely the ocean view from the balcony and hearing the waves. The owner and his wife and the staff are super friendly and made me as a solo traveller feel very welcome and safe.
Highly recommend!

We stayed in Wave Beach Resort for 5 nights across the 2019/20 new year.
We paid far more for this hotel than any other on our 3 week trip to Sri Lanka (a total of 8 hotels) and the value for money was genuinely the worst.
The hotel is a backpackers’ hostel charging 4 star prices.
Breakfast was poor and the kitchen it came from clearly untidy, as was the rest of the hotel. With rubbish stored in overflowing bins in the communal areas of the beach.
The bed linen was full of stains and the room full of ants.
If we had paid 50% of what we paid we would have enjoyed the great location and thought the hotel more reasonable value for money.
However, we have been left furious after paying so much to have stayed in a sub par, dirty hotel with no facilities at all.

This hotel was lovely, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Air con was good and so was the wifi. They even let us check in early because we arrived from the airport at 7am.
The rooms comes with a fridge and a kettle and very clean rooms.
I would definitely recommend this hotel!
Thanks again

We settled in this hotel after one night in another place in Hikkaduwa and have something to compare with. Wave Beach is a comfortable and affordable solution for a great rest in Unawatuna. The ocean is excellent for swimming here, the cuisine is delicious. Another important moment is staff in the hotel, everybody is friendly and devoted to making your stay here perfect. The owner is always interested whether you have all necessary and even helped us in a difficult situation once, though, he was not obliged to. This really matters.
Some observations to add: wi fi works only at the reception and there is loud music after 9 pm sometimes. Other than that everything was perfect and we were truly lucky to get into this beautiful place.

My girlfriend and I are both medical students and worked in the hospital in Galle for four weeks. We extended our stay at the Wave Beach Resort after our first week because we enjoyed it so much. Our room was amazing: with a comfortable bed, AC, warm water (often not the case on Sri Lanka) and most importantly the ocean view! The included breakfast offer full filled either our wish to try the authentic kitchen or to eat western food again. We had our meals in a nice lounge, open to the beach with a charming bar. The service was always very friendly and professional and we became very good friends with the owner Asoka, who even invited us to his birthday party at the beach. We'll always remember it!
All in all it was totally worth to take the tuctuc very morning to the hospital in order to enjoy the free time in the Wave Beach Resort.
We'll definitely come back.

Stayed 5 nights in this hotel in March I requested a room on low floor which they gave us but ceiling fan didn't work and balcony door didn't lock so we asked for other room all they had was one on 3rd floor which we took and room was fine hotel was nice lovely beach staff seemed friendly although manager was a little overbearing at times but all was well until we were packing to leave and we realised that a pair of Samsung earbuds and £100.00 in sterling was missing from my handbag in wardrobe we believe it was taken the day before when a staff member was hanging around outside our room when we went out and on the last day my husband had left his phone in the room and that was still there the manager offered to call them police but as we were due to leave in an hour we couldn't see any point the manager said he would investigate and contact me but he has not so therefore I would advise people to avoid this place if you value your possessions
It was a very bad end to a great holiday
