We stayed in May this year and are booking to return next year. It was a truly wonderful holiday. The hotel vibe as soon as you walk in is calm, clean and friendly professional staff.
I felt compelled to write a review and share with you my experience as I have just read the bad review by Madeline B.
I would say first of all that the hotel doesn’t have a strange smell it’s very clean and pleasant. The location is wonderful you can walk 5-10 minutes along the promenade to many excellent reasonably priced restaurants. It’s a beautiful resort and more upmarket than most in Ibiza. Particularly say if you fancy a drink overlooking the bay go to CBBC along the marina they also do a great value lunch menu. If you fancy a walk up to the church on the hill it’s a great view from up there and we did it twice. We also went in and enjoyed its tranquility.
If you leave the hotel onto the promenade and turn right towards the mouth of the river then follow the footpath it’s absolutely beautiful, a little further along you will see ducks and beautiful countryside, continue along the path until you reach the water mill and go in to the little museum. Nothing is too far away. The walk is clearly marked on a map and you can do as much or as little as you like. There are bench seats along the way too.
Again if you leave the hotel to the right onto the promenade there’s a little shop selling beach items such as buckets and spades, inflatable lilos, and holiday gift items. The lady has a fantastic selection of dresses and they are such good value it’s a must visit for anyone looking for a holiday dress!
The outside area at the hotel is well looked after too and we were very pleased that they genuinely will not let people reserve sun beds. If anyone leaves their belongings on a bed it will be removed if left for more than half an hour. It’s a fair policy which works and stops those selfish people who get up early just to reserve a bed for much later in the day.
Breakfast is a great choice and as a gluten intolerant guest I was very impressed with their selection. They had gf croissants, muffins, bread rolls all of which were delicious. Plenty of fruit, the strawberries were so tasty! Three choices of juices one being a mix of green pressed vegetables and fruits with ginger which was so refreshing. Cooked items, regular breads, pastries, meats, cheeses, yoghurt (delicious), nuts, seeds, dried fruits….you couldn’t ask for more…..
So as I say read my review and Madeline B’s and I think you would say she was staying in a different hotel!

This hotel has wonderful style, channelling a modern Art Deco vibe which I loved. It also has wonderful staff, who don’t get too familiar but are friendly, charming and helpful; the perfect balance in my opinion. The hotel has very small rooms. We soon adjusted to this, but on entering we were left puzzled at where we would put two large suitcases and our belongings for the week. I asked at reception if they had any larger rooms and was surprised to be told all rooms are the same size, which cannot be right; the appropriate response would have been to offer an upgrade which I may have been willing to pay for depending on price or to explain no larger rooms were available. Breakfast is lovely with exceptional service. The pool is great for chilling around and generally finding a bed in the sun wasn’t too much trouble. I loved the location, to the south end of the Santa Eulalia promenade and easy access to the beach and local bars and restaurants. I found the food for lunch at the hotel to be of a very high standard. Overall a 4.5 star hotel for me, which could step up a notch in some areas to be really exceptional. On balance I would happily return and hope to do so.

Cosy room with all the modern amenities needed. I could watch Netflix on a giant TV from a super comfortable bed and the sound of waves in the background. The sea view rooms have the most stunning views across the sea to the horizon.

The breakfast buffet has everything I could’ve wanted, from classic to more healthy fruits, cereals and fresh juices. My only tiny gripe, they need to fill the tea pots with more water so I don’t have to keep asking for a refill. But that they have tea pots and tea cups is so much better than tea in a glass!

The lounge is very cool and comfortable but the main attraction is the pool and the sun beds. Comfort is a thing here. The beds are almost as comfortable as the mattresses in the room.

Drinks and food are a bit hit and miss. There isn’t really a consistency to the quality of the food. Some of it I don’t understand why they have it on the menu as it starts to feel old fashioned. If the food matched the creativity of the hotel it would be even more of a special place to stay. But I can get a much better steak elsewhere in the town and at a lower cost. Cocktail recipes could do with a lot of improvement. The classics come across as too simple with the measures being a bit off. The signatures are a reasonable effort but fall short of being impressive. They all feel a bit rushed and not well thought out.

The most impressive thing here is the service from the staff. Polite and friendly but not too invasive. Anything I needed was dealt with accordingly and in good time. There were a couple of times when service was slow, but that was when the pool was busy. Drinks did arrive freshly made. The cabana are worth the upgrade of reserving one and ordering food and drinks for the day. Service on the beach was also very good.

So despite the slightly better than average food and drinks, the high points outweigh the lower points - although they aren’t too low. Stylish, cool, touches of elegance but not too formal with great service that left me with a refreshing feeling that sums up the expectations of a hotel on a Mediterranean beach.

For location you can’t get better than this hotel, but asking us for £75 A NIGHT extra for a sea view room after an already pricey room fee was abit extortionate. We didn’t have the best experience at check in to be honest, it was only then we were also sprung the news that we had to pay a £350 deposit that they would ‘hold’ for security??! Never had to do this in my life before and after all we’d booked a package deal with Jet2 so what were they thinking we’d do?!

The best part of the breakfast experience was the walk out the sliding doors to the decking area where you’d be greeted with an amazing open sea view. This however took a sour note halfway through our holiday the hotel opened there ‘restaurant’ area next door. I can only describe this a sweat box whilst also feeling like you’re a monkey at the zoo (it’s all behind glass, none of which appear to open) and a side note there didn’t appear to have access for a wheelchair/prams. Good choice of food though.

The pool, beds are cool and really comfy. It wasn’t busy when we went so didn’t have a scramble for beds but you do get a ‘warning’ that they don’t allow claiming of beds so if beds are left for longer than 30 mins your stuff gets put in lost and found. Food/drink around pool (in general really) expensive thus causing people to go out for lunch/eve meals. No atmosphere which is a shame. Do something about your prices Rio!
Music around the pool, avoid the seats near a speaker, you can’t hear yourself think it’s way too loud you can hear it on the beach.

The rooms - I have a question…. Where do people put anything??? You get 4 hangers that just fit on the rail so you can imagine how small the rail is. Anything long ie: a long dress won’t fit. 2 bedside tables with small drawers and 2 other even smaller drawers. It gets a little annoying keep bumping into your partner all the time with how small the rooms are. Beds were super comfy to put a positive spin on it, room cleans were of good standard although not consistent with water/tea bag refills.

Would I return to Rio, probs not. It was above average but not enough for me to return.

POSITIVES
The Riomar Hotel is a very stylish boutique size/style hotel. Situated on a lovely stretch of beach with lots of very nice priority sunbeds for hotel guests. The pool is also a lovely place to spend time, with undoubtedly the most comfortable sunbeds i've ever experienced. The beds fill up fast though.

Location is great if you are looking for a quiet environment, while still being close enough to local restaurants and bars. It's also only a 20-25 minute drive to the more lively Ibiza Town, and a similar distance the beautiful beaches in the North of the Island.

Food and drink quality are excellent, and in particular the cocktail quality.

The staff are all extremely friendly and attentive. Particular praise goes to Tate and Kevin who work as part of the reception/concierge team, and Angel from the restaurant/bar.

LESS POSITIVE
Rooms a very stylish and newly refurbished but they are on the cosy side. One of the big drawbacks is a lack of storage space for clothes, therefore if you are staying for more than a long weekend you might struggle for hanging and drawer space.

Food and drink are excellent, but felt slightly too expensive compared to other local establishments.

Housekeeping was a little disappointing. Regularly forgot to stock the room with the correct amount of fresh towels, bathrobes and complimentary water. Were very responsive when we reported it, but just a shame that the error was made on so many ocassions.

A very pretty hotel right on the sea front and beach. This is a reconditioned hotel and the decor is fresh and modern. The staff are young and enthusiastic and nothing is too much trouble in pleasing their guests. Lovely pool and chill out zone and a great decking area where you have breakfast and an evening drink. Breakfast is lovely and has a great fresh selection on offer. Location fantastic.
However it is listed as a 4* hotel but there is no alternative place to eat when it rains but the lounge. Sitting on settees and eating off of low coffee tables is not ideal and several guests appeared bemused at this arrangement…it was not ideal at all. The rooms are so compact and tiny …smaller than a Premier Inn room and if you stay more than a couple of days it becomes claustrophobic. No wardrobes, just a tiny hanging space and only 2 drawers to put any clothes in, the rest of the storage is open shelves which when you put your clothes in makes the room look cluttered with clothes etc.
The terrace rooms have a vast empty space with no comfortable place to sit, no loungers jut a small table and chairs that are provided for the small balcony rooms, so I wouldn’t recommend paying the extra money for a terrace room.
For us it was the sizer of room and the empty terrace that spoilt our stay a little.
Would recommend a 2/3 day stay as rooms are so small.

Such a lovely hotel.
Really clean, lovely interior and exterior, well kept.
The staff are all really helpful and friendly, food around the pool is great - sushi pop up also fantastic.
Lots of local choice too, we tried Lagom (10-15 min walk) and Koba (next door practically).
We stayed for a week at the end of August / start of July, were advised hotel was full but never felt crowded. Could always get a bed near pool or on beach - 30 minutes of no one on beds and they clear belongings which stops people claiming them for the whole day.
Rooms are small but unless you plan on spending your holiday inside they are perfect. Beds are really comfy, clean simple room design.
25 mins drive gets you to Ibiza old town, and over the San Antonio side of the island. Santa Euliala itself is very relaxed, lots of families but also couples and friend groups too.
As a couple in our 30s we found the hotel to be perfect for us. Would definitely recommend.

This is one beautiful hotel in every way. Walking in through the doors, the view out to the water is absolutely stunning.

Checkin was efficient allowing us to store our bags due to an early arrival & make our way to the pool. The pool area is the real star of the hotel. The biggest, comfiest sunbeds I’ve ever used And great pool service from Gabriel each day. The water tho was the coldest I’ve ever dipped into, icy enough to give you a heart attack!!

Breakfast was very good. Lots of options & the best service from Nieve (Snow?). She was absolutely delightful every day & coped well with the busy times & service on a rainy day! The views from the outdoor restaurant area were absolutely stunning. You could sit there all day & simply stare at the sea.

Our room was large enough. The rooms & bathroom are beautifully appointed & felt luxurious. Nice touch having black shower head & taps, etc. The rain shower was certainly powerful enough. There’s also a mini bar with enough room for you to chill your own drinks. We were so happy to have chosen a sea view room as the views are amazing.

Great location too with an easy stroll along the promenade to the port whilst passing many dining options.

In a nutshell…. Well worth a visit. Would return tomorrow!!

I have just returned from the Riomar, what an absolute gem of a hotel!
The pool is stunning with pool side beds that you literally sink into, there are also comfy beds on the beach included in your stay with staff on hand to ensure the towels and beds are changed once used.
Breakfast was perfect, there is a choice of cooked breakfast, fresh fruit salad and pastries,
the dinning area looks over the beach and bay, what a place to eat breakfast.
The rooms are also to a high standard...although we could have done with a larger wardrobe, we managed to get by.
The most impressive and memorable part of the holiday was the service from staff.
They couldn't do enough for you, nothing was to much trouble, Rodriguez working poolside and the lovely lady serving breakfast were so friendly and made our stay extra special.
The only downside was the fact we couldn't get a sea view.
I booked through tui and unfortunately the option to upgrade was not available.
I did email the hotel but they could not accommodate me, this meant we had a view of the street to the back of the hotel, this I was fine with until the noise started, late at night and early in the mornings.
It seemed to me that dirty plates and crockery are loaded onto trollies and wheeled across tarmac to another door, the noise of the trollies being dragged from one door to another was like a train coming through....this went on late at night until the early hours, then started again at 6am.
This as well as bins being emptied and bottles being disposed of.
If it wasn't for the noise I would have said the hotel was perfect.
I realise the hotel is in its first season so please management sort out the noise issue as you really do have something very special.
If you can get a sea view room, book it as you won't be disappointed 😉
We will be back but I'll book a sea view room next time.

My partner and I have stayed in the Hotel Riomar 8 times before the makeover, it was always a beautifully clean hotel in a fabulous location and we have had lovely holidays there.
The newly refurbished hotel is beautiful with very eclectic taste, the rooms were lovely with lots of extra little touches, especially the king size bed and white cotton sheets!
It was also nice to have free beach towels and sun beds on the beach.
The staff were young and very helpful and nothing was too much trouble we were also surprised and happy to see 2 staff members that we knew Enrico on Reception and Lola who also remembered us!!
It’s not mid price anymore though and seemed to be catering for a younger clientele with Ibizan music and quite pricey menu and drinks.
