We have just spent a wonderful week in the beautiful Andalusian village of Gaucín staying at the magnificent Molino Del Carmen. The owner Pip was fantastic in keeping in touch during delays to our trip due to the pandemic and in reassuring us about our trip in August 21. On arrival Josefi gave us a lovely warm welcome and was on hand for anything we needed all week.

The village of Gaucín is absolutely beautiful and it was lovely to spend the week as a family experiencing the real culture of Spain off the tourist trail. The narrow streets are a delight to explore and the various restaurants are high quality. Due to ongoing COVID restrictions booking is absolutely essential. There is also a fabulous Deli in town where we had a few home cooked meals prepared for us to warm up in the house for our evening meals. Delicious.

The accommodation at Molino is stunning. We stayed in the largest house, Casa Abanico and it is an incredible house for a family to stay in. The amenities are first class and the views from the terrace on the 4th floor simply amazing. It is impossible to do justice to how amazing the place is and incredibly for us we had the whole place to ourselves, which was amazing for the children having the pool to themselves all week.

Just an amazing place and an amazing week!

After 2 postponed visits to the Molino Del Carmen we finally arrived for 5 wonderful days in Oct. The Molino is beautiful and Pip the owner has taken such care to ensure the old olive mill retains many of the original features whilst incorporating its Andalusian charm and all the modern facilities you could ask for. Gaucin is a beautiful village to relax and unwind with several great restaurants and some lovely walks. El Atico restaurant in particular was excellent and Lisa was very responsive to allergies and dietary requirements.
We stayed in the Don Jose apartment and the views from the terrace are just superb.
The apartment was comfortable and spotless and the kitchen well equipped. We couldn’t have asked for more. Josefi the Molino’s manager was lovely and even bought a few amenities for our late arrival.
It was a perfect escape, so perfect in fact that we have booked again for next year.

We had a magical week staying in Molino Del Carmen. The accommodation is stunning - beautifully styled and so well equipped. We were a family of 4 holidaying with a larger group of friends, also staying in the Molino. It was the perfect set up with space to come together and privacy to relax as a family. Gaucin is a pretty Spanish village which we had fun exploring - even managing a few runs to the castle! We loved being in the mountains, the views are fantastic, and with the coast a simple car ride away the location offers the best of both worlds - days by the pool or on the beach. A fantastic week, we can’t wait to return next summer.

This place is beautifully furnished and the building is fabulous however, it feels a bit tired. Our sheets were frayed, the umbrella stand was broken and the shade frayed. There is no satellite tv as advertised on the website and the connection to the dvd player was faulty. The sun beds are the most uncomfortable I’ve ever experienced. The website says that it is peaceful but in reality, it’s in the middle of a busy town (there was also a building site next door and one behind us which were at times very noisy) which means that whilst it is quiet for a few hours each day, the rest of the time, it is full of lorries, cars and residents of the town.

Despite this, we had a great week, Gaucin is very pretty ( some very good restaurants) and we were well looked after by Josefi. It is still worth a visit but is not the luxurious retreat advertised on the website in its current state

Thanks for your review. We are so glad you had a nice time in Gaucin! We pride ourselves on our quality linens and were sorry to hear you had a frayed sheet. We will ask housekeeping to check all the linens to ensure this isn’t used again. As for the parasol, we note you came at the end of the season. These do experience a lot of use over the year and the intense heat also damages them. We replace them regularly and on closer inspection noted some loose threads on this one. It has now been replaced. We are glad the DVD was sorted, I understand this cable simply needed pushing in. Gaucin is a small pueblo and we are located within it. Most guests remark that the Molino is peaceful yet conveniently located for restaurants/shops etc, with many not using a car all stay. We cannot stop building works and whilst these were short lived, we are sorry you did experience any disturbance. However, it was lovely to hear your enjoyed your stay and everything Gaucin has to offer. We hope to see you again one day!

I don’t usually write reviews but after our fantastic week at Molino Del Carmen, I feel compelled to do so! My family and I stayed here for one week in August. From our initial enquiry right through into our stay, the communication from host Pip was prompt and very informative. The apartment is decorated to an extremely high standard and is exceptionally clean. The beds are very comfy with lovely crisp linens too. We particularly enjoyed the breathtaking views from the terrace and our tweens loved hanging out in the pool. The village of Gaucin is beautiful with some fantastic restaurants to suit all tastes. We thoroughly recommend and we are already planning our next visit!!

We are regular travellers with high standards and yet we were blown away by our stay at Molino Del Carmen. By far, the nicest place we have stayed - our highlights include the incredible room terrace with views of Gibraltar to the Atlas Mountains, the incredible decor and style which made us feel like royalty and the pool which we were lucky enough to have to ourselves. Pip and the whole team were really easy to deal with and we would recommend this place to anyone looking for a glimpse of Spanish heaven.

My family and I stayed at Molino del Carmen for a week. It was one of the loveliest family vacations we had. Pip did a great job with the Molino, it is beautiful and cozy. Her staff, Josefi and team were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

We rented the whole place because I have a big family and a few of my best friends were visiting from Califonia. Molino is a great place to stay for everyone, even my little nephews and niece approve of the place. When staying at Molino, you can easily just relax and enjoy the beautiful view from several balconies on the property.

This is a great place for people who love peace and comfort. The old beautiful city. The view from the balcony is so beautiful that you will never forget it. The cloud will be below you! Private pool, sun, fresh bread and jam from a local store. All apartments are created with a high sense of taste so that you will feel the work of the designer. No random things. Everything is very refined and neat. In the kitchen you will find everything you need. An ideal place to go with your family and take friends with you. Children play in the pool. You are sunbathing. What else do you need?

We started staying at the Mill 25 years ago under a different owner. We love Gaucin and its many restaurants. The standard of the accommodation throughout Molino del Carmen is fantastic. We have stayed in many of the apartments - the highlight for us is Casa Abanico. The owners and staff are always a pleasure to deal with.

The place itself was nice and very well decorated and Gaucin was lovely.

Having said that it was a let down to find nothing available when we arrived, not even oil, and having to pay each time we used the washing machine also seemed odd.
