Went here for a lovely friends wedding in August 2022. Amazing venue, food was good, location and beach was perfect. Rooms were comfortable, breakfast was lovely and hotel was clean and friendly. Special mention to Raimundo - what a guy! Funny, friendly and went above and beyond everything we asked. I said I’d write this for him and I’m glad I have because he’s a credit to your hotel and needs to be recognised.
Brilliant location right on the beach and easy to walk to town along the beach. Also cheap to get an Uber if you don’t want to walk in the heat of the day. The staff were brilliant, really responsive and helpful. Really attentive and friendly towards the children. We stayed half board and the food is varied and fresh. I particularly enjoyed the sushi and my family enjoyed the freshly made mushroom pasta. I’m gluten free and there was bread available on request. The main downside was the smokers, some insisted on smoking during their meals whilst sat outside with no regard for fellow diners. There was also a strong smell of smoke in our bedroom. I’d recommend a sea view room and asking for a floor on level 3 or above. Overall we would go back.
Everything was great, the location in relation to the beach is great but if you want to go to Alvor you will need to walk a bit or take the car. The food was very good both breakfast and dinner. The room was clean with a good view to the ocean.
My husband and I booked a superior sea view room at this hotel and was very surprised at how tiny the ‘superior room’ was.it was very claustrophobic. The hotel itself was very nice, food was good. Staff attitude was mixed, some clearly enjoyed their job others not so much. Shan’t be returning to this hotel.
This hotel does not qualify for 2 stars, never mind 5 star. The pool area is overcrowded with plastic beds, screaming children, loud and stressful. Poor bar service on uncomfortable plastic chairs. However the room was the greatest disappointment. We booked a room with deluxe garden view and got a tiny balcony with 2 basket chairs(no cushions) overlooking the car park . The smallest room, dated carpet, soft and maximum a double sized bed, nowhere to put any toiletries in the tiny bathroom- so terrible that we immediately went to reception with such unfriendly staff and cancelled our stay. Fortunately we were able to find a different (fabulous) hotel nearby. Have never had such a bad experience that we would rather have flown home than stayed here! The photos online are nothing like the reality at all!!…
The Pestana alvor praia caters for mass tourist, who enjoy massive canteens, loud drinking and cueing for drinks. Staff is super nice and helpful, but it still takes 20 mins to get a drink in the evening bar. Wi-Fi at the pool is patchy. The bar, all facilities inside and out are old and ugly. The room was big enough and properly cleaned, with two big useless walk-through areas and no balcony. The ocean view was complemented by the view over the abandoned patio and burned grass. Breakfast pitiful, lots of unhealthy and not tasty choice. Overall, those mass tourists were probably there on packaged tours, for 80 euro a night, for me the hotel is not worth more than 100 euro. I paid 400 euro per night and felt unhappy there. After I booked a night in Tivoly Carvoeiro for little over 300 euro and it was like getting to a different world. The restaurants on the boardwalk are pretty simple, hard to get in without prior booking, but fish was beautiful.…
This used to be such an impressive hotel but they have now sold out to the Wedding Circuit. We experienced 3 weddings per week which were accompanied by varying degrees of abusive behaviour and obscene language around the pool, choruses of “I can walk 500 Miles, Sweet Caroline etc until midnight etc. if that’s what you want, this hotel will be ideal. Stunning position, shame about the fall in standards.
Only thing to fault is the charging for extra tea and coffee! Once those in room are used up, they charge for replacing. Room furnishings a bit tired in places. TWO full length mirrors would be useful. Beds very soft 🥴 Ramps would be beneficial for wheel chair users as they are unable to dine outside in a morning or evening as steps only. There are 4 sunbeds marked up and reserved for those with a disability, though get your towels out early! Other than that we having a great time. Buffet meals but lots of choice.
We have just returned from a week in a deluxe sea view room. The room was spacious and clean though perhaps a little dated. The location of the hotel is brilliant with plenty of pool space and easy access to the beach. The boardwalk into the town is very mangeable and there are great places to eat there. Breakfasts were lovely and the evening meals we had in the hotel had plenty of selection. I am gluten intolerant and managed to eat very easily from a dietary perspective. Overall the staff were very friendly and went to great lengths to help us sort out some chaos caused by Lastminute.com with flight and transfer cancellations for the return journey. Overall I'd definitely return for another relaxing stay in a beautiful place.
The location might be the best in Alvor. Great staff (in particular the Kids Club). Nice buffet by the pool and family facilities. Easy beach accesses and awesome spot for runners. This hotel is one of the oldest in Alvor but still keeps the glamour.
