We were very much in two minds about the hotel and our experience. There was lots of wonderful things to share but we also came away from it feeling a bit uneasy and unwelcomed as English speakers. I speak some basic German, but my husband doesn’t, besides a few worlds here and there. Its quite unusual to be in a hotel of this level and have so many staff not speak a word of English. This in it self although surprising was not of course in any way offensive, we have learned that smiles, hand gestures and few local words can get you by just fine. However we were not prepared, the frustration or even anger directed at us at times for not speaking German. Quite peculiar really for a business based on hospitality. Although fair to say we were the only non german guest in the hotel. But let’s start with the good. The hotel is set in a wonderful garden. The manicured laws and nature create a wonderful backdrop to the pool area and the outside restaurant terrace. The inside-outside pool was never too busy and there were plenty of sunbathing options around for one to be comfortable. The beach is only a short stroll away across the promenade. Location was peaceful and we were only ever worked up by the birds, not an unwelcome wake up for us. Bedrooms were very spacious and clean, however an investment into the quality of linen and pillows would be welcomed. It has to be said that I cannot recall such poor quality at this star rating level. The food was unfortunately average. Breakfast served respective of the new Covid guidelines, a pre-order of cold buffet elements to be made night before. Hot items ordered in the morning, a humble selection of eggs (scrambled, fried, boiled and plain omelette), meats (sausage, bacon) and crepe. Quality unfortunately 3 star at best and that is me being generous due to the outstanding waiter who was the highlight of this service and restored our faith in German hospitality. Food across dinners and lunches along the same lines as breakfast, not terrible but average at a stretch and definitely very overpriced for the quality. We never made it to Belvedere. Spa was our most unfortunate experience. My husband tried to book a massage for us both on the last night. As English is not widely spoken by the staff, he was unsuccessful and upon arrival there was only a booking for one. We made no fuss, but the spa person was very annoyed, we tired to rebook perhaps for another time, but there were no more options. We politely accepted the misunderstanding and took the message for one. Still seeming angered, the person continued to semi bark at me in german putting me through the paces. There was no attempt to really communicate with me in a pleasant manner. The massage itself was fine, the room clean and relaxing, but the attitude before and after so cold and angry it really took away from the entire experience. It was the first time in my life that I didn’t tip a spa and was angry at myself for going though the booking given his clearly terrible attitude. We are already planning a trip back to the area with our family, but not sure if this hotel would be back on our consideration list.

Dear Klaudia, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback on your stay with us. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the hotel overall. We are truly sorry to hear that you feel some of our staff did not extend our usual warm and friendly welcome to you and your husband, especially during your SPA experience. As you so rightly identified, you were the only English speaking guests, and in all honesty non-german speakers are a rare exception in our hotel, this certainly does not excuse your experience but hopefully adds to the explanation on the language barrier. Please be reassured that we address all your points with our staff to ensure all our guests feel equally well cared for and welcomed. We understand that the ‘new normal’ is still a process and presents challenges in the logistic off Food and Beverage offerings. We are welcoming any constructive feedback as we tirelessly working to improve the new service concept. In addition, we have contacted the Laundry company to take actions regarding the linen offered. We thank you for your understanding as we continue to go through these challenging times together. We do hope to welcome you again and show our true Travelcharme Strandidyll hospitality to you and your family in the near future. Kindest Regards, Das Strandidyll Team Detlef Kruse, Hotel Manager

There is no air conditioning in each room in summer. Only heater works, they say. Pls mind that in the age of climate change you will have trouble adjusting to hot weather inside and outside of the hotel, especially when you have kids.

The hotel is modern, bright, with a lovely spacious garden, swimming pool, spa, wellness area, restaurants, bar and very good service. It also has a large lobby with charming seating arrangements. Very useful when the weather was poor and one could sit there and order refreshments. I was there over Easter - the hotel made it very festive with Easter decorations, Easter Breakfast (with sparkling wine) and Easter Dinner. Plus a little basket with Easter chocolates left outside every room on Easter Sunday. The hotel is not directly at the beach because there is a vast expanse of barren land between the hotel and the sea. But the hotel has direct access to the promenade through a entrance in the garden at the back. The breakfast was lavish. I found the restaurant prices a bit steep. To get maximum value from this hotel, it would be good to go there in the summer, so that one can lounge around outdoors in the garden.

I've choosen the hotel with big hesitation as its placed on former teritory of German Democratic Republic. However, my doubts have not been confirmed. This place has an extraordinary charm, excellent location, top service and .... tasty cuisine. Just a luxury pearl on the island of Usedom.

On our visit to this resort we found this hotel and decided to eat here on our second evening. This was an excellent choice. The restaurant on the fourth floor was spacious and inviting. Our waiter was very good. Menu extensive and although a little expensive, well worth it - the food was delicious with a varied menu. The food we had ranged from starters of scallops/fish/salads etc, mains of steaks/fish/vegetarian/pork/veal etc and lovely desserts to follow. Wine choice excellent. All in all a very pleasant experience. On leaving we had a quick look about the hotel and it was very welcoming with large reception and good pool/patio area to rear. Obviously could not comment on rooms etc but from what we could see lots had balconies overlooking pool area. Certainly recommended for food.
