The time spent in this hotel was an amazing experience. It was the first time being here, but I’ve felt I know this place for ages, as decorations, furniture, even home appliances and electronic devices seem to have been borrowed straight from the “That 70’s show”. It is like a museum, very comfortable museum, with very friendly staff, always there to help.
Also, the location is great, a quiet place with fresh air and amazing nature.
I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to everyone wanting not only a nice break from a busy life, but an outstanding chance to live a piece of history.

This place is like a time capsule from the 1970s transported to a tiny village in the Odenwald. It looks like a film set - with lots of cute and original touches like the vintage gambling machines in the pool area and the old dial phone in our room. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Only drawback were the towels which apparently hadn't been washed before and shed sticky red fluff!
The owners (probably a family) were very sweet and helpful, especially the elderly lady who served breakfast and allowed us to have a good look around. We could choose the time for breakfast by ourselves, which was fantastic - hardly any five-star place serves a late breakfast at 11!
Most of the guests seem to come here for golfing or hiking. For us, the location had its drawbacks - contrary to the address, the hotel is nowhere near the town of Michelstadt and can only be reached by car. Since the village Gasthaus was closed due to a village fair, we ended up taking a taxi to Michelstadt to have dinner, which was very expensive.
If you like nature and want a really unique experience, I would recommend it, but only if you have a car.

This hotel can only be judged from a nostalgic perspective. The rooms and comfort are really from the 70s. The mattresses are very hard and a challenge for side sleepers. The breakfast area is interestingly designed (furniture, dishes, curtains, etc.) and you really get the feeling of being in another time. The breakfast was sufficient, delicious and served at the table in a friendly manner. The original interior, which is now hard to find, is wonderful. However, missing or worn accessories have been replaced with unsuitable, more recent items. Unfortunately, the eye for detail is lacking here. The marketing around the hotel is somewhat misleading. Apart from the breakfast rooms, the hotel reveals a large backlog of renovations. This particularly affects the lounge with its sagging upholstery and some of the outdoor facilities. The indoor pool looks good, but guests cannot use it because of "the energy crisis". What a pity! Plus point: large parking lot directly at the back of the hotel. There is no service during the day or in the evening. Due to the enormous costs of a fundamental renovation (which retains the 70s touch), necessary repairs will probably be left behind. The hotel is a nice nostalgic memory. Definitely interesting for one night. Also slightly too expensive for the service offered.

The question of whether the accommodation met expectations depends VERY much on the viewer's perspective in this case: The "Parkhotel 1970" is a theme hotel, completely unchanged from the 1970s - I personally thought that was quite naughty for one night, but my partner had a serious problem with the fact that REALLY everything had remained unchanged... which included greasy, shabby upholstered furniture in the main building as well as the smells of the 1970s...

One thing that is definitely positive is that the bathrooms (at least in the bungalows) were modernized a few years ago. The free parking is also a plus point.

The charm of the house, which is certainly there, becomes a nuisance where the facilities are simply dirty, worn and broken.

The hotel is 1970s through and through, a unique and impressive experience for us. After a friendly welcome from the owner, we were led to the James Last Suite we had booked. Time tunnel: I felt like I was in one of the living rooms of the parents of childhood friends from the 70s. The pictures speak for themselves, everything is original and enriched with many collector's items from the time.

However, anyone who expected 2023 comfort enriched with 70s decor has not understood the concept. The charm of the old and sometimes bizarre design is what makes it so appealing.

Dinner can only be eaten outside, after which the rustic lounge invites you to chill out.

Since many parts of the hotel are practically unused, this is a paradise for photographers.

Only the drinks menu could be a bit more extensive.
