Detailed Reviews
When we book our holidays, we usually look for the following conditions:
* Excellent food
* Excellent service
* Privacy
* Excellent spa and other facilities
We have a lot of experience with 5 star hotels, where we can perfectly relax and regularly spend a few days to reload our batteries, based on our above mentioned priorities.
The Steirerhof Wellness Hotel can be easily recommended for its fine dining, breakfast and overall cuisine. A focus on regional sustainable products and a nice flair of high quality tradition.
The spa area can also easily compete against world wide leading 5 star wellness hotels. A very nice touch of luxury and still effordable treatments and services with lots of options do not promise too much.
The main difference to many other real 5 star wellness hotels however is the number of rooms and guest and the overall available lounging area meets rather a 3-4 star level. The number of guests is overloading service staff during breakfast and dinner, although they try to do the best to stay friendly and calm. Room service is in no way "invisible" and does not quietly recognize when you leave and get back, simply because of the number of rooms that have to be made with a manageable staff.
At last the number of guests in relation to the available lounging area cannot deliver the privacy level, which we are looking for, when spending a certain amount of money for our holidays. Room sizes are average and also the quality of bed and furnitures are already seeing some signs of aging. Inexcusable however is a creaking bed...this is a nono for 5 stars.
The non existence of a pool service for drinks and food is again a decision that the hotel management made against full 5 star level and rather towards usual 4 star expectations.
In room TV program and Wifi quality is on highest standard.
The hotel bar delivery on a very high level with a lovely decoration and a lot of simple surprises like a gaming corner with traditional games such a backgammon and others...
Beside those points above there is one thing where Steirerhof delivers above all other hotels that we ever visited so far and that's the Hotel shop. Usually overpriced with only limited offered is this shop such a lovely surprise, that you cannot help them visiting it every day again...and every day you find something that you did not see the day before. From local food, over a very strategic book shop area, cosmetics, cloths and many lovely quality items for a very affordable price make this shop the most amazing surprise we found in this overall lovely 4+ star place.

Our stay at Der Steirerhof was pleasant and comfortable overall, however there were a few aspects that slightly detracted from our experience.
Firstly, the elegant ambience of the hotel and the beautiful outdoor area are positives.
Our deluxe room was tastefully decorated, albeit quite small, and was cleaned regularly.
However, there were a few areas where the hotel did not quite live up to the expected 5 star standard.
Service in the hotel's restaurant was inconsistent. While some staff were extremely courteous and professional, others struggled to keep up with the high standards of the hotel. We often had to pour our own wine as no one was around, and also point out that our plates should be cleared.
The quality of the food was good overall, however it was noticeable that the starters from the buffet were often the same, antipasti every evening, and a greater variety would have been welcome.
Furthermore, the bathroom facilities were not satisfactory.
While sufficient towels were provided, small amenities such as high quality soap and body lotion were lacking. Instead, 2 no-name products were offered, an all-in-one soap in a dispenser and a body lotion, which did not meet the luxury standards of a 5-star hotel. No hair shampoo, conditioner, etc.
The WiFi in the hotel was, in my opinion, absolutely unacceptable. We had no decent reception with either A1 or Drei, so we were forced to use the hotel's internet.
The connection was permanently overloaded because too many guests were logged in at the same time.
Even simple tasks such as reading the daily news via the Krone or Kurier app were impossible in the room in the morning.
Opening Instagram or bank apps was even more difficult. Given the price of the stay, this deficiency is simply unacceptable.
The massage and treatments we booked were excellent!
Our conclusion: A 5-star hotel with a lot of potential, but some shortcomings.

The hotel is built into a rock, which has given it its unique shape. It is very quietly located, as there are no other buildings nearby.
When we drove in through the imposing entrance gates, we were able to park in the very comfortable underground car park. We were greeted very warmly by the staff at reception. We would like to highlight the friendliness of all the staff. During the short wait, we had the opportunity to take in the unique building structure (lobby, bar). After checking in, we were given a short tour of the hotel.
We were greeted by our cozy room on the top floor with a large balcony and panoramic window. Cozy bathrobes, fleece blankets and slippers were ready for us. What we found particularly thoughtful was the fact that bathrobes and slippers in our size were provided. The next morning we were able to enjoy a beautiful sunrise from our room, including a small natural spectacle as three deer were grazing on the grounds.
We personally liked the outdoor pools the most in this cold season. We were able to enjoy the evening twilight in the thermal pool and quickly found relaxation (the indoor area impresses with its many saunas, various relaxation rooms and pools).
For dinner, you choose from a small daily menu and it is served at the table (the extensive buffet leaves nothing to be desired). At breakfast, we had a fantastic view of the valley. The breakfast buffet has a wide selection of healthy and delicious dishes (including smoothies, sugar-free and homemade granules, lots of fruit and vegetables - the list is endless).
The Steirerhof is designed to be able to unwind and regenerate from the stresses of everyday life. We particularly liked the fact that this is not a family hotel (meaning no screaming children).

A hotel that stands up to international 5 star standards. Our car was parked in the garage, neither in the restaurant nor in the wellness area, which by the way rightly holds its 4 lilies, you get the feeling that for economic reasons, cheaper products are being used, as we have unfortunately had to experience in other houses recently. When we had to leave more or less hastily due to floods, we were charged only for the nights actually consumed. Even an ultra-short-term cancelled massage appointment was not charged. A generous gesture from a great house. Thank you very much and we now know why our acquaintance is now 30 years old. Mal was at this hotel.

+1
First hotel on the square, which is of course reflected in the price. Is it worth spending so much when you could spend twice as long in another hotel for the same money?? Well.....
The facilities in the rooms (Dyson hairdryer!) and the wellness area cannot be beaten. There is plenty of space, always enough free loungers and everything is available and clean.
The restaurant and bar did not really convince us. It is also not entirely clear why free (really good) cake is served for the afternoon snack, but you have to pay for the coffee. There are other ways to do it!
We would have preferred a walk-in shower, as after a certain age you don't like getting into the bath so much anymore ;-)

It's always a good idea to book The Steirerhof. It is pure relaxation in a lovely region. Nice rooms, comfortable beds, delicious cuisine. I personally love the gym, which is next to a forest, the experience is special. The property is very well maintained, a beautiful garden surrounds the various pools, peacefully and in harmony. The staff is one of a kind, friendly and welcoming. I will always return to this amazing hotel.

To put it in my husband's words, "simply fantastic" :) it would be too much to list everything that deserves praise. An absolutely perfect place to let go. The food, wellness and staff are all TOP!! I can't remember any other hotel where I slept so well. The Steirerhof is unbeatable in terms of relaxation. A classically elegantly furnished house that can happily do without the modern, clean chic. As it is, it is incredibly cozy and allows you to unwind.

It's all tip top. From reception to rooms, wellness area, kitchen. We had a nice waiter. That man was great. The only thing was the wifi which did not go everywhere and 1 waiter in the bar in the evening is too little in my opinion. Unfortunately we were only 2 days but I could last longer with you.

A spa as you would wish for. Everything is perfect. The hotel and the kitchen are almost unbeatable. The service and the kitchen are exceptionally good and the local and international wine and beer selection is plentiful. (Including our own beer)

A hotel that is almost impossible to top. From arrival to departure, everything is perfect. Even special requests like double meals were no problem. The only problem is actually leaving. You are sad to say goodbye and are already looking forward to your next vacation.

Hi, well ,I would say this depends on weather conditions. If it's a strong winter with a lot of snow than outdoor activities might be limited to go for skiing (next skiing resort is about 45min.) driving away. If you don't have snow you can do basically the same things like in summer ,just bit more covered. But you know what ,the place is so beautiful and cosy that you would enjoy staying inside and just relax and rest. I am also confident that the people from Steirerhof are ready to give you a good idea about their Winter Program, just give them a call or drop a mail. All the best
