What a lovely hotel just a few minutes on the south end of Mancora. We stayed here for 5 days at the end of May, 2007 and were amazed how quiet the beaches were as well as the hotel; just a few other guests. Mancora is not the easiest place to get to, but well worth the effort. We did run into some younger people who took the bus from Lima, however we opted for a flight from Lima to Piura, then a 2 1/2 hour car ride. We arrived around 9 p.m and were taken to our room by one of the waiters. There was no visible office/reception area. Our room was very large with a nice size bathroom; lots of hot water. Lovely deck with 2 chairs and a hammock overlooking the pool. The restaurant was open till 10 p.m and we ate here several evenings and the food was very good. None of the staff speak English and we have limited Spanish but we managed to communicate. We were concerned about getting back to Piura to catch our flight and asked to speak to the owner.....we did speak to the owner and she did arrange our taxi back to the airport after our 5 days (left at 3 a.m); however for the rest of our stay, the owner(s) were absent from the day to day operation. Appeared that our waiter seemed to be the person in charge; bringing people to their rooms, waiting on guests by the pool, etc. Although we found this somewhat strange, we really enjoyed our stay here. Nice clean room, nice size pool and good food. Price included breakfast.

Family of 6 (4 adults and 2 kids)

Our family spent 5 days in Mancora at Casa De Playa. The hotel is beautiful, relaxing and clean. There is no tv or phone in the rooms but it"s exactly what you need if you are looking to relax. The rooms are nice and spacious with plenty of hot water and just a few feet away from the ocean. There is a nice size pool where my nephews (12 and 8) spent most of the time and loved it. The beach is nice and clean with plenty of lounge chairs to catch some sun. There is also horseback riding on the beach for about 10 soles for 30 minutes, my nephews really enjoyed that . Don't forget to protect yourself with sunblock as the sun up North is very strong.

The food at the restaurant was very good (mostly seafood) and the drinks specially the pisco sour were awesome. If you are looking to eat elsewhere, take a mototaxi for 3 soles into town where you will find more dining options and it's about a 5 minute ride.

The hotel staff was very friendly and courteous, specially senor Ramiro. When we arrived the first day, senor Ramiro met us at the entrance of the hotel and guided us to our rooms. From then on he was serving us breakfast, lunch and dinner til the day we left. He took care of everything we asked for, if we wanted lunch by the pool or on the beach he would make sure we were taken care of. Don Ramiro works very hard to keep guests satisfied and he is very courteous, so please tip him well.

We were very satisfied with our stay and hope to go back in the future.

This hotel is an example of how the simple life can be the luxury life. The rooms have no phones, no TV, and no A/C. Who cares!! Outside is a cool pool, a great swimming beach, and hammocks, verandas and balconys for leisurely passing the days.

It takes a while to get here (it is worth it), and don't be in a hurry when you arrive -- things dont happen fast here.

The food at the onsite restaurant is excellent and the menu is large. All the staff is leisurely at your service. The hotel encourages barefoot dining =)

"Splurge" and get a room with a view-- it doesnt cost much more. The views are priceless as you nap in the hammock on your porch/veranda. Regardless of the room, the waves cash hard on the beach and the roar of the ocean will lull you to sleep (or keep you awake), depending on how sensitive you are. Bring ear plugs just in case.

Summon a mototaxi and pay 3 soles (come'on give'em 5) to get into town. Your dining options will be expanded.

Most of the staff doesn't speak English, but it is not a worry. A pervasive carefree attitude will make for some fun gestures and memorable experiences.

They didn't honor my reservation, and try to up sale me another room at a much higher price, they will charge you 31% more for some ridiculous fees, be careful, when they charge your credit card because even after the outrageous 31% in taxes and hotel fees the owner over charge me about 60 dollars by mistake then she acted offended and as if she was doing me a favor in giving my money back.
She charged me 18% also and did not take my American passport as proof of non-residency, she insisted and requested some Andean document that I had to provide, I told her I will send her an email with this document scanned so I can get reimbursed but she came back saying " I will have to charge you 11% anyways due to what Visa charges for just doing the transaction" ....I just gave up and REALLY HOPE EVERYONE BE CAREFUL WITH THIS ONE, NOT WORTH IT! A REAL NIGHTMARE!!!

This place reminds me of beauty and the beast. Mancora is heaven, the beaches are fresh and the hotel is not bad either but the owner is a beast!

A group of us, 2 Germans, 2 Americans and 2 Peruvians, had requested rooms to suit us but she instead she had to charge us more for the rooms. Completely took advantage to the fact that we were tourists. She was not welcoming at all, and her receptionist was a huge hipocrat that had a relaly bad attitude. Very ignorant i must say.

We had no option to stay there, other hotels were booked, but it put a sour note since we had to see them everyday, urgh.

I am writing this review while I am sitting on the terrace of my room here at casa de playa. First, I made a reservation for a simple bedroom, in my exchange by email with the hotel I asked them if they had a baby crib for my 2 year old baby, they replied saying that there was not enough space in the room for a crib, so I said fine, he will just sleep with us. Then I get here, and they say that actually there are no kids allowed at all in the room, and the only one that allows kids is 20 bucks more per night! So I get there and I am tired for the trip coming from punta sal, so I say whatever, I will take it. My room is nice overlooking the beach, although second floor so not very kid friendly, and for the price I am paying I expect air con( 100$ night) but no, all the rooms only ceiling fan!! Ok well maybe the breeze will be fine, but I stayed in a much cheaper hotel in zorritos and there was air con, as well the wifi reached my room perfectly, but here no, I have to use my 3G signal. I go complain to reception, the girl gives a lame excuse: they reset the wifi a while ago, maybe it's better now! , of course she just wants to get rid of me, and then the worst part, i can't use the pool because it's in maintenance!!!!!! And of course she does not mention that when I am paying upfront for the room, and when I asks her about it, she says she does not know that it is in maintenance, the maintenance guy is a different department, etc etc. so , I officially hate this place, and I would say for the price u better go somewhere else. Avoid avoid avoid, u have been warned

We arrived from Cuzco after about total 7 hour flight and 2.5 hour ride by private car. Our 3 night reservations had been made by our hotel, Terra Dorada, Cuzco, with a woman named, Tati (owner, Casa de Playa Hotel). Tati had room guaranteed with Visa and Tati made private car transportation arrangements from Piura airport to Manacora. We paid the driver upon arrival at Casa de Playas Hotel. When we arrived around 830-9 pm our bags were quickly taken to our room, which we saw briefly before returning to the check in process. Nellie, check in person, spoke no English, immediately called someone. My wife & I left our passports & credit card and sat down as Nellie proceeded.
Shortly Nellie presented us with the entire 3 night bill: she wanted it pre-paid. I asked her is this a deposit or am I paying for the entire stay? The latter. It was awkward and unique in our 7 week, 5 country, South American travel experience. I was certainly in no position to argue with this young woman, who I believe was taking her instructions directly from Tati. No welcome or explanation of charges or any information about hotel services-- just pay us for 3 nights before you go to your room!!!
The room was fine; little things were wrong: like toilet not turned on. We are paying approximately $110 (or 320 soles) per night.
The next day while exploring the beach we met a friendly hotel owner, who allowed us to use his beach shade and sitting area, mentioning that is was the slow season. Much later that day we saw him & his wife on the beach; he invited us to see his hotel. We did. Rooms were similar to ours and much less expensive.
We had not planned on moving, if things had worked out. I thought perhaps we would get a better rate at our hotel if we were staying more days. So I asked Nellie, she said it did not matter how long we were staying, if we wanted to spend less money we could change rooms. I said will you ask the owner, Tati, (since all of our reservations had been through her) and Nellie refused!
We are leaving tomorrow after 3 pre-paid nights. In addition to everything else, the location is poor if you desire to be in the ocean: it is prohibitively rocky here. One needs to go south about 1/2 mile to find sandy beaches. That is what we are doing tomorrow.

I always go to Mancora every year to do some surfing with my friends and I always stay in Las Arenas hotel, but this year I wanted to try something new. At first I was very excited with the hotel, but then I had the worst experience of my life. I found an insect in the food. I told the waiter and he really apologized with us and offered to give us something else. I also had problems with the shower and the hammocks were dirty and very unreliable.
Never would stay here again.

Spent 9 nights in Casa de Playa. We arrived Airport Tumbes, the taxi we booked, not there! We took new taxi, arrived hotel 11 oclock evening.Nobody, all closed, except 1 security man.We took alone our suitcase to room, many steps,...in room no TV,no refrigerator,..Safety box closed(not working)so we slept all money,passports,...out.For 4 star hotel think not usual.Next day check in only, and breakfast for 9 days:1 juice(pineapple or papaya),one egg and 3 slices of bread with strawberry jam, same for 9 days.no fruit,no change of breakfast:same every day:1 day i asked for 1 more egg, they charge!!!!!!!i thought was a joke. Also all they provide very bad:matress in room i hurt my back, saw a doctor for medecine,..the owner told me to make exercise,to stretch:travelling a lot, also many hotels in PEROU,Lima,...it was an answer from the owner to me,i never expected. All they use in hotel low cost, from shampoo to matress,..Service also not the best.If you like dogs,in that place you like.24 hours you will hear dogs noice,3 dogs from the boss, and sometimes attacking customer,no joke. Finally for check-out (we booked till 5.9 included, cause we left 4.9 at 17.00,they not clean the room, not change towel,...only wait we left!!!)they also not helped for carry luggage,...The only positive thing in that period is that the place(room, around)is very clean, and safe. Will never return.Egg during 9 days, never change, same war.Internet slow or non existant.Poor experience
