All round good hotel. Nothing mindblowing but very good value for money. Breakfast was really good wide range of options all included! Pizza was tasty. Hot water was a bit temperamental. Beds were very comfy and room was a good temperature. I was there for the kite school situated in the grounds. Staff we great and really helpful.

Beautiful resort, opens right to the beach, friendly staff, very tasty and very affordable food at the restaurant, comfortable beds and excellent bathrooms, great pool area to hang out. 5 min walk from centre, worth it for peace and quiet away from noisy nightclubs. Loved the stay and would totally recommend it to anyone. GREAT price for such a nice place.

This is a great place to stay, I highly recommend it. The manager is responsive, the rooms are very clean, the SHOWER IS FANTASTIC!!! It's right on the beach, so you can horseback ride, ATV, kite surf, straight out the door.
They have 2 men stationed outside to intervene in case the beach vendors get over zealous, but I felt very safe there. I had a massage that the manager arranged and it was great!!!

Ok this place was great. The employees were warm.

2 things I didn't like.

1. Too many mosquitoes in the room.
2. The farm animals didn't have any sense of being there. They were starving. The 3 goats and the turtle. Poor animals.

Overall. A great experience. I would recommend to the future travelers 2 bottles of RAID spray mosquitoes killer
Or Baygon.

But everything was great but these 2 little problems.

I found this to be a perfect stay in Mancora. I originally booked a bungalow on Airbnb, but it was seriously lacking in amenities, and it was difficult to sleep due to the late night music from a near-by night club. I started looking for a new place to stay after my second night, and thought I would have to move to a hotel at Las Pocitas beach in order to find something comfortable and quiet. However, the hotels in that part of Mancora are all quite expensive, and further away from town than I wanted to be. Luckily, I came across Casa Mediterranea.

Casa Mediterranea has a lovely beach front property that is an easy walking distance from the main town and beach, but tucked away enough to be quiet and peaceful at night (nothing like falling asleep to the sound of the ocean!). The hotel has a pool with stunning sunset views, and access to a small beach next to the property. The staff was always very helpful, friendly, and professional. The rooms were kept immaculately clean (seriously some of the best housekeeping services I've ever experienced). The room was very comfortable, with a ceiling fan, a very comfortable bed, a stocked mini-fridge, and an excellent bathroom (great water pressure, plenty of hot water). There are security guards present overnight, and an on site resturant that provides a breakfast buffet and a la carte lunch and dinner options (I had a pizza one night that was tasty).

This is an excellent choice if you are staying in Mancora. I visited Mancora twice in October and both times stayed at Casa Mediterranea, and I will plan to stay here again in the future.

Paolo is an absolute star!! Charming, funny and helpful. When we arrived it was out of budget but he still helped us out for information regarding our travels going forward and tourist taxes. He even offered to find us somewhere within our budget as myself and my partner are travelling for 8 months and need to budget.

Well safe to say Paolo was so helpful I thought why not stay.

The place is excellent. The rooms are excellent. Both pools clean and of a good size. All the staff are wonderful.

This place is FIRST CLASS. Great yourself to stay here at least 1 night. It will make Mancora extra special for you and yours

Brilliant arrival with the personal touch of the big and friendly giant, Paulo (hotel manager). We got bumped up to a beautiful room with balcony and sea view.

The property is clean and safe and no question or request goes unanswered.

Our personal highlight was the special lobster dinner which was prepared to perfection (ask for it).

Also the wildlife is simply amazing, I was able to swim with a whaleshark right in front of the hotel and we got treated to an amazing sunset with a show from a whale passing by

There were some excellent elements to this hotel. The staff were lovely, the price (off season) was great. The room was spacious. Pools were clean. The beach is stunning. Comfy beds and great hot shower.
However, there were gaps in the doors allowing mosquitoes and crickets in.
The goats are emaciated and in poor condition. I don't get why they are there. It is just cruel.
Breakfast is poor for the room rate.

Casa Mediterranea is a very cute, small hotel (only 8 rooms).

PROS:
- GREAT location just a 8 min walk into town.
- Friendly staff.
- Clean pool.
- Beautiful balconies.
- Safe environment.

CONS:
- Bad value. The hotel is very expensive for what it offers. At US$ 130/night, you should get at least a decent bed and good breakfast. However, the "king" bed is two very tough twin beds put together, breakfast is very skimpy offering just (non fresh) rolls, butter, jelly, coffee and juice. Also, no shampoo/conditioner in the bathrooms.

If Casa Mediterranea charged US$50 less than its actual rates I think it would be a great place to stay, but for what you pay, its not the best value you're getting for your money.

Tip: Skip breakfast at the hotel and walk down the beach to the Green Eggs and Ham, for S/.15 you will have a generous portion of pancakes, bacon, eggs, in any sort of combination.

We stayed here in late May/ early June whilst backpacking for 6 months around South America. It had newly opened; with the pool only having been finished the week before. The room was a bit of a 'splurge' by our backpacking standards - at $55 USD p/night, but well worth it.
PROS:
Brand new - Comfortable, luxurious rooms (by backpacking standards). Roomy bathrooms. Excellent balcony with ocean views. Wifi (limited access). Room fridge & mini bar (though highly recommend filling mini bar with your own purchases from town - far better value!). Great pool & deck chairs. Lovely manicured grounds. Friendly staff. Private beach chairs & umbrellas. Excellent location only 5/10 min walk along beach to town - providing easy access but enough distance to drown out the noise of the parties at the large hostels in the centre.
CONS:
Very basic breakfast - we would expect more for the price of the accommodation. Very pricey drinks & food in their bar/restaurant, which is a shame because it would otherwise be a great place to enjoy a drink or meal. Noise travels at night, especially when the owner/manager decides to party with her friends outside at 1am! Wifi only works on balcony or in common areas.
RECOMMENDATION:
Ask for a room price w/o breakfast - and stroll along the beach each morning to 'Green Eggs and Ham' (recommended in Lonely Planet) for an exceptional, great value breakfast or brunch ... we should know, we went daily (at least once!!!).
OVERALL:
Excellent. We'd love to go back and will definitely recommend. I hope they can maintain the standard of accommodation and service - because as with all things South American, it's one thing to open a 'luxurious' accommodation and another to maintain it! Also, as with previous reviewer, not sure why they call themselves an 'eco-lodge'?!

There is a small beach right next to the property, and it is easily accessible. The hotel is also only an 8-10 minute walk to the town beach (or a quick Moto ride). You get an unobstructed view of the beach from the hotel's pool area. The fence and rocks that are there serve to protect the property when the tide is high (when it's very high it can reach right to the edge of the property!)
