I stayed a week at the Sunset and it was magical!
The spot is really nice, terrific view and very nice service. The whole team, and in particular the manager Ricardo were really nice and answering any request prior and during my stay. The food is tasty, the location is 30mins walk from the main beach, at first I thought it’s a bit far but then the walk si really nice + it’s away from the noise so it’s perfect to relax after a long day of surf or night dancing as it’s only 10mins by cab.

This is an exceptional place! The rooms are very well appointed, and the view is truly marvelous. The location is fantastic: ten steps from the beach. The food is delicious... we didn't go anywhere else to eat during the 7 days of our stay! But what really counts, as in all locations, is the service: the staff is extraordinary! We travelled with my 2 grandchildren (12 and 10), and everybody just went out of their way to spoil and entertain them… teaching them to play backgammon, making allowances to serve them special treats at dinner, taking turns at the pool to keep an eye on them… I can’t praise them enough. We’ll certainly be returning there as soon as possible.

We stayed 10 days at the Sunset Mancora and we had a great time. Great as we were really sad to leave and wanna go back.

First of all Pedro, the hotel administrator, is such a great person. He organized our hotel pick up and drop off, such as tours or taxis we needed during our stay. He also responded to all our emails previously.

Unfortunately my mom and I both got a flu but he and the entire hotel staff made our stay as comfortable as they could.
The bar/ service is done by Alex and Palermo and they both are great. Very tentative and always open for a laugh and a chat.
The chef is really nice too, I wanna thank him here one more time. He made all our special orders to get healthy soon and the food he prepares is really yummy. My favorite plate is the Tuna Tartar! Best!
I’m not a great fan of Italian cuisine in Peru but the pasta dishes I tried were ok.
The fish and seafood menu tho is so much better and so yummy that you can eat a different thing every day!

The hotel is well taken care of. It’a nice and clean. As is the pool. You have a beautiful view from the hotel and the pool is a great spot to take pictures or enjoy the sunset.

The rooms are simple but with everything you need. They are also very clean thanks to the girls that take care of housekeeping.
You even got heaps of international channels on tv. Not that you really need the tv there but just in case.

I would always recommend this hotel. And we will come back. We were here beginning to mid April which is right after Easter which worked out perfectly because the big tourism was gone and it was nice and quiet.

Mancora “city” is only 5 minutes by motor taxi away. You have little shops and restaurants there too.

Bedroom = very comfy bed , good water pressure in shower , very clean but you see this property is showing it’s age .

Breakfast : extremely basic , we were asked do “ you want fruit or eggs “ cannot have both !!! OMG I thought that was extreme in a place where I had paid 160 usd for 1 night of accommodation , coffee just ok .

Pool = small area but some good sun beds to lay on there

Restaurant = over priced very average food , service slow but then it is a beach vibe more laid back , look in the town for better cheaper eating alternatives

Wifi = slow and keeps cutting out

Using our guidebook, Moon, we decided to stay 3 nights at Hotel Sunset. The guidebook said all five rooms were with a view, and unfortunately the hotel booked us in "Room 6" - the recently-converted apartment (? - it had a kitchen sink) at the back of the hotel. Even worse, the room shared with a bathing suit shop that was open quite late.

Room 5 is also adjacent to Room 6 - meaning, no view either. So we ended up canceling the last 2 nights and moved to a different hotel. The manager gave us back $100 of the $120 we pre-paid, which was a nice gesture.

I highly recommend if you do choose to stay here, ask for room 1 through 4. Those rooms do have a view, and would have been great. And visit the room you are staying in prior to paying.

For the 1 night we stayed, we ate at the Italian restaurant in the back of the hotel. Very good, I might add and I would visit the restaurant here again.

Other things of interest: hotel is nicely decorated, is on the beach, has lots of beach chairs (though in the shade), and a pool (small, close to where everyone eats).

We stayed 4 nights at the Sunset after a trip to Machu Pichu, as a couple. We were delighted to realise that our choice had been heaven inspired.

We had booked a junior suite right in front of the beach and near the swimming pool. The room was clean and pleasant, sober but convenient, as are the whole premises. Having an Italian restaurant a few steps away inside the premises was also a great asset, very pleasant and convenient.

The surroundings (beach, gardens, etc.) are in my opinion amongst the best in Pocitas - extension of Mancora snaking south along the coast. You can easily walk along the beach and take a swim in the many natural pools siddling the sea before marveling at fantastic sunsets!

I must also mention the excellent extra customer service they provided us. We could book easily a smooth transfer from and to the airport, Also, before and during our stay, Pedro Salinas (our contact at the hotel) showed a rare sense of service, helping us in many ways to have a pleasant stay.

Thank you again Pedro to you - and of course to all the Sunset staff - you took a great part in making our holidays a success.

We went for dinner. Thier restaurant is called Cucina d´Amore. A very well appointed name. Great service, and very good tasting food. A nice italian menu, with good antipasti, and even much better pastas. Also good pizzas and nice desserts. But the nicest was the service and ambience

We stayed three nights at the Sunset Suites and Boutique and were very happy with our stay. We wanted a few relaxing days at the end of our tour of Peru and were happy we chose this hotel, even though we had read some less than flattering reviews.

The room was comfortable with a direct view of the ocean. One review we had read complained about a lack of hot water and we had the same problem until we worked out that the hot tap is on the right, whereas in Europe the standard to be on the left.
We felt dumb we didn't try this earlier.

Our lack of Spanish did not help, but we managed to be understood and had good breakfasts with excellent Italian cuisine in the evenings. Previous comments about sunsets are spot on, the sun rise and sun sets were amazing.

Overall, we got good value and good service and an end to our Peru adventure that enhanced our memories of that wonderful country.

Dave & Denise U.K.

We went to there for family holidays and because somebody recommended me. The hotel is ok, I was not impressed. I guess is because is 3 stars hotel. People who work there are nice and very helpful and the last day they spoiled us with good sea food. The beach in front the hotel is rocky, no way we can swim there. The swimming pool is very small. The towels they lend us are very old, they need to change that. The breakfast is very simple. No phone at the hotel to call a taxi. Despite that we enjoyed the wonderful sunset.

Had a great couple of days at this hotel. My room was said to have a "side beach view" but had an amazing front-on sea view. There are very few rooms so hotel is relatively quiet. Beach is las pocitas (not the main mancora beach) so is so peaceful and even more beautiful. Mancora beach is a short & cheap tuktuk ride (5 sol max) away if you want the loud party experience that mancora offers. Bedroom size was very large with large bathroom facilities. Showers were a bit cold, but in South America this isn't exactly unusual (also not really a problem due to how hot it is in mancora). Functioning air conditioning which is a necessity here. Italian food in the restaurant was delicious. Staff were amazing, pleasant and friendly creating a familiar and relaxing atmosphere. Also, something happening at home meant my dad called in the early hours of the morning and one of the staff, Pedro (great guy!) came to my room to hand over the phone call. Truly amazing service for customers. You wouldn't get such an amazing room and magnificent sea view for this price anywhere else in the world! I would 100% recommend this area & hotel before the world realises that this gem of a place exists!
