The Peninsula Resort & Spa is located in the Heraklion prefecture of Crete, in the village of Agia Pelagia, just 25 km away from Heraklion town. The hotel is built amphitheatrically on a peninsula of distinctive natural beauty between the bays of Mononaftis and Psaromoura, forming a unique panoramic view of the Mediterranean Sea. The hotel offers direct access to three different beaches ideal for swimming and snorkeling due to their protection from the frequent northeastern winds that regularly affect the North of Crete. The hotel is compromised of two main buildings and several groups of Bungalows with great views of the sea. In total the hotel offers 250 guest rooms of various types. The architectural and decorative style of the hotel is simple yet elegant aiming to maintain a traditional Cretan style and highlighting the natural colours of Greece. Detailed Reviews
I checked in in this hotel today and it looks beautiful, views are amazing however people are loud and you can hear when someone walk or talk next room.
In the room there is no sofa and table to sit, wardrobe is small , no place to put wet bikini. Beach towels are for given for a deposit 10euro and to change them you need to pay 2 euro. Queues in the restaurant, hotel is understaffed. No bellboy to help with luggage.
Food is so so , breakfast ends at 9.45, all incl you can't even serve yourself a piece of watermelon you like. I think staff in the restaurant is from Bangladesh, they don't understand any English.
Hotel does all incl as there is nothing around, you can find couple of taverns in Agia. But if you want a nice coffee you have to pay 3 euro when everywhere it's 1euro 80
Beach is small , people smoke on the beach so it's disgusting for those who don't. Only one entry to water. 2 other beaches Psaromoura and Manonafti are also very small and you have to pay for sunbeds there.
Too many kids.
Nothing outside the hotel, nowhere to go. In Agia Pelagia there is nothing to see.
Really worst hotel I visited, not practical, not convenient location far from everything.

We had the best stay at Pan Peninsula - post-lockdown from London, it was everything we needed to relax, wind down and recharge the batteries. Everyday we were blessed with beautiful sunny weather, waking up to a glorious sea view every morning and the hotel has access to two stunning, smaller beaches perfect for snorkelling. Food was fresh, varied and plentiful, with all members of staff super friendly and patient to cater to all your needs. If we wanted to venture outside the resort, excursions were easy to book with pickup just outside the hotel to nearby harbour towns of Chania, Rethynmo and Heraklion, as well as bigger beaches on the west side of the island. In our rooms, the soft beds with aircon and clean showers made our stay super comfortable, with better sleep than back home! Overall, very sad to leave and will definitely come back!!
*In terms of COVID-19 precautions, hand sanitising stations were conveniently placed all over the site and staff were constantly cleaning the tables, floors and lifts everyday.*

My girlfriend and I were hesitant about going away during COVID, but were delighted to find that the staff had a large number of measures in place to make us feel secure and relaxed. They were very friendly and welcoming. The food and drink were great with a large number of options for dinner and excellent "specials" including a seafood paella and souvlaki.
The highlight for me was the waters. They were extremely clear and situated in a cove between lots of mini beaches that you could swim between and explore. The area in the hotel is expansive and enables you to climb to see excellent views of the sunset from the lobby balcony and bar.
We had a fantastic time here as a couple, but it seems like it is family friendly too with a swimming pool and evening entertainment on the top floor.
We will be sure to return for the views, water and service!

The staff at the hotel are fantastic, extremely polite and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. The views from the hotel are breathtaking.
Our room was very clean on arrival, spacious with a big balcony overlooking the sea. Clean towels were provided every day alongside a bottle of water for each guest in the room.
The restaurant caters for a range of dietary needs and provides a good choice of food daily. My son has a nut allergy and he was well catered for with a wide range of dishes available for him to eat each day. Eating away from home with a nut allergy can be very scary and stressful. We did not experience this in our stay, It was great that we could all relax and enjoy the food without fear of him having an allergic reaction.
Every morning whilst eating breakfast the guest representative checked on people whilst they ate their breakfast and reminded them that she was there to help them. This really gave the impression that the comfort and happiness of their guests are the highest priority of the staff at the hotel.
I highly recommend this hotel and I will definitely return in the future.

+1
I have been to the Peninsula Resort & Spa on three separate trips to Crete since 2008. I live in San Diego, CA and I am of Greek descent. The hospitality, food, accommodations are all superb. The property sits on top of these rocky bluffs and the surrounding water is the clearest, most perfect water I’ve ever swam in. You truly are treated like family when you stay here. I’ve always stayed for more than 8 days on each trip and I’ve never been bored. You can explore the island (which is quite large). I recommend renting a car so you can check out some other spots, but the Peninsula Resort & Spa in Agia Pelagia is a perfect place to stay. It’s very easy to get to, only about a 25-30 min drive from the main port town of Heraklion where you have the main airport as well as access to many ferries that can take you to various Greek islands, with Santorini being only a two and a half hour ferry ride away. The rooms are spacious, very clean and well attended to. All rooms have an amazing view. The beds are very comfortable and the air conditioner works very well (very important in the summer time). The value and accommodations are top notch…and so is the food. It’s so hard not to try a little bit of everything because it all tastes so good! Highly recommend to anyone planning a trip to Greece. Crete is such a beautiful island and this resort will leave you feeling relaxed and recharged.

On initial appearances the hotel seemed to be all we were hoping for in terms of beautiful location, size of room, sea view room, different relaxation areas, pools and beach. The food was also quite good.
The entertainment was terrible, it was completely in French with total disregard for any English guests (I also thought English was supposed to be the international language). It was absolutley tacky and appalling with everything from the French version of 'Birdie Song' with everyone dancing like sheep around the pool, to the sad Comedy Night. The ONLY good evening was the delightful and exceptional Greek Dancing evening, the only authentic piece of entertainment the whole time we stayed at the hotel. If you dislike tacky pool dancing entertainment and are looking for something classier and more dignified, then avoid this hotel.

It was our second visit, and we will be coming back for sure!
It's clean and spacious, with plenty of different places to relax, quiet and tranquil: absolutely perfect hotel to get some rest.
Views are stunning, and the sea is the best you can imagine. Snorkelling and reading books on a lounger, close to the beach bar, drinking and snacking, taking little naps, it was a really perfect time, amazing holidays!
During our stay in the hotel, we enjoyed a broad selection of world and local cuisine, incl—octopus, snails, lamb, fantastic fish and other. And there is pizza day every day! Very close to the hotel there are restaurants and bars, serving spectacular fresh seafood (and other plates), but you can also eat in the Resort all-inclusive food and not get bored.
Staff is very friendly and makes everything easy.
The location makes it easy to make a lot trips around the island; we went to see some museums (Archeological Museum in Heraklion is better than the Athens' one!), beaches, wineries, olive oil producers, all very close.
I can't wait to be back next year!

We visited the Peninsula as an autumn break for some sunshine . We checked in late at night and were pleased to hear that there was food left out for us (as several flights were checking in late that night). The guy who checked us in welcomed my husband warmly, calling him "My Prince 🤣" I know that Greece/Crete is a bit of a patriarchal society, but it was a bit pathetic that I was completely ignored (even though I joked with the guy that I was a guest too...)
The room was very basic (sea view suite) although it did have a lovely view and a comfy bed and the air conditioning worked well. There were very limited toiletries in the bathroom consisting of shampoo, soap and conditioner. No body lotion so bring your own. There was none in the hotel shop and it's expensive in the beach store.
After having a bath, the bathroom flooded every day up through the overflow drain on the floor. We reported this to reception three days in a row but they weren't that concerned and blamed us for putting loo roll down the toilet (which we weren't). Loo roll goes in a bin beside the toilet which is customary but gross! We were in a neighbouring hotel previously which didn't have this problem. We gave up reporting the problem.
The restaurant is like a school canteen, being big and noisy with no atmosphere. It's definitely not romantic! You have to set your own table and we were shocked to see guests clearing their own tables too (which we eventually did too). The staff in the restaurant work really hard, but there aren't enough staff to cope with the volume of guests. At times it was difficult to get a table, cutlery, cups, glasses etc.
The hot food is generally cold and poorly labelled so you're unsure what you're eating. Having a seafood/fish allergy, I never knew what I could and couldn't eat.
For families with children, there seems to be a good choice of kiddie food - pizza at every meal etc, but we were generally disappointed with the food. Some dishes were delicious but cold. There is a microwave in the restaurant but we didn't expect to have to heat up our dinner!
As said by other guests, the entertainment caters mainly for the French guests. The dance show and the Greek night are very good, but don't expect the other entertainment nights to communicate in any language other than French.
The all inclusive package is a bit of a joke. You only get all inclusive drinks at the pool bar. You have to pay for the same drinks in the lobby bar and down at the pier. The all inclusive cocktails weren't to our taste. The ouzo was better!
We were in the hotel for over a week and were expected to use the same beach towels daily! You have to pay to change your towels.
The redeeming features of the hotel are the views, the cleanliness of the bedroom, the weather and the helpfulness of the staff (apart from check in guy). Sadly, we won't be back.

Well, where do I start! – the place was out of this world.
I’ve traveled the world far and wide and can honestly say that I have never been so looked after as I was staying here.
From your arrival and check-in, they are so quick to fulfill your every request should you so have any.
Anna on the front desk was able to answer any questions, book us all excursions, and even kindly upgraded us to a higher tier room. She was an absolute asset to this hotel. The cleanliness is the best I’ve ever seen in any hotel I’ve stayed in around the world. The food, OMG! The array of delicious culinary experiences, from the BBQ by the pool side to the huge buffet inside for lunch! There was nothing spared at all – tremendous job guys!
The many pools and views meant you were finding new hidden gems around the hotel each day, from the ocean side cement deck and bar that served the best Frappuccino’s to the sea salt pool with a million-dollar views!
I can't recommend this place enough, we arrived home last night and we were blown away by their hospitality so much so, we have just this second rebooked for a longer stay in June!!
Hats off to you all hard-working staff members at the stunning peninsula resort and spa!

I’m a single mom with 2 teenagers that stayed at this resort. It was not advertised anywhere as a French speaking resort. Some of the staff speak English, but not many. All social activities/shows are in French. The entire time we were at the resort we only met 2 families that spoke English. The buffet did not have a lot of selection and some of the items were stale. You clear your own plates when finished eating and get your own cutlery. Self serve your own drinks. No servers around the pool. The 1 restaurant we are at included in the all inclusive package was terrible. I ended up sitting for 30-40 minutes waiting for our bowls to be cleared after dessert so I could sign for the wine that was not included. If you go down to the platform to jump in the water and lounge on the sun, this is extra, even a pop for the kids. I wished I had picked a different resort by the end of our first day. The only amazing part of our stay were the views.
