Bamboo Zanzibar - what an experience! Though finishing touches are being added to the property, its main public areas and rooms are beautiful, spotlessly clean and afford unbeatable views of the beach. From several pools, to elegant and bountiful gardens and ornamental landscaping, the
beautiful grounds of Bamboo (and, its namesake bamboo construction!) match the friendliness of the staff: delightful!

The beach out front can be tricky to access at high tide, but at all other times it is perfect for strolling, sharing conversation with the seaweed farming ladies, or relaxing while watching the expert kiteboarders just up the coast.

Indeed, a major highlight is the artistically designed dining area (in bamboo, of course), complete with a handsome bar, couches, and luxurious infinity pool with lounge are just outside. The food itself is out of this world, with a few regular dishes and regularly changing daily specials to keep things interesting.

This luxury boutique hotel is amazing. I went here solo for my birthday and I was treated with royalty. I had the room with the private pool and ocean view. Everything was great, the food, the staff, the spa and the view. My days were made so special, my clothes were washed free of charge, my room was cleaned twice a day, and room service was included. The hotel also offers hookah and a floating breakfast which was a plus.

I condsider myself lucky to have been among the very firsts ever guests in this beautiful architectual masterpiece. Located at the south-east coast of the island, it's offering mesmerizing views of the deep turqouise Indian Ocean from each of the 10 rooms, the sundeck and the restaurant area.

At times, it can get hot on the island, but the slightly elevated, open architecture allows for a nice breeze throughout the days. A huge infinity pool and a spacious terrace, surrounded by lots of nature left me with no further wishes.

I consider myself food-obsessed and so I've tried a range of restaurant and eateries across the Island, only to become aware that there is hardly any establishment that comes even close to the culinary experiences I have been offered by the team around the Polish master chef.

Bamboo offers only the very best of locally-sourced, organic ingredients, lots of them grown in their own garden , daily fresh baked pastries, and seafood that couldnt be fresher, all of that turned into pieces of art for my palates.

I will be going there again VERY soon.

I spent one night with my wife. The first thing that surprised us were the views both from the room and from the terrace or from the bar-restaurant. The sky, the ocean and the pool merged into one. The atmosphere was very calm, always accompanied by good background music. The service was exceptionally nice and polite.

We decided to try a 5 course menu. We are very satisfied with both quantity and quality. To drink they offered us a white wine that paired perfectly with the food. The breakfast the next day we also loved. You could tell that everything was just being done and that even the smallest detail had been looked at.

We found the room very cosy. Even without the air conditioning running we were fine. The best thing is to get up in the morning and watch the sunrise from your bed.

We will definitely be back as soon as possible!

Stayed at Bamboo with my wife and two teenage sons over New Years at the tail end of a safari trip.

When I selected Bamboo I did what you will do: surfed on over to their social media to check them out. And their Instagram is amazing: mojitos and yoga overlooking the Indian Ocean and gorgeous social influencers sitting in the pool with the oversaturated blues of the of the water juxtaposed against their perfect white smiles. If this were a review of Bamboo’s social media, it would be five-star “OMGs” all the way.

But unfortunately for me (and possibly you) there is a chasm between Bamboo’s Instagram its pretty mediocre reality. The property is poorly maintained. and the staff is poorly trained. The plunge pools have missing tiles and are neither clean nor inviting. There are exposed wires throughout the property. Music in the lobby is provided by bluetooth speaker slapped on the ground. The paddle boards didn't have fins so they were useless (unless you like paddling in circles). The wifi did not work properly during our stay. Took them three days of our asking to take out our laundry. Sometimes breakfast (which was always good) took 45-minutes, sometimes it took 1.5 hours.

My overall advice is to enjoy Bamboo’s Instagram account, maybe even come for dinner to take some pictures, but stay at a place that tries to be good as opposed to just looking good.

All feedback is important to us. While we usually succeed to meet our guests expectations - we are of course saddened by your review. We had hoped to have addressed all your concerns during your visit but we will take your notes seriously wherever needed. We are proud of our very successful social media presence - and none of the scenes raised are incorrect: Yoga is offered in private lessons - the images do not lie, sunrise yoga at Bamboo is amazing. Mojitos are served to (predominantly) very happy guests throughout the day! We often joke - we do not need filters for the Shade of Indian Ocean Blues offered by our Bamboo Ocean View! We did our best to meet your expectations - offering a different menu, suggesting activities but it was clear that our hotel was not the right fit for your family's taste. We agree we are a young team and we have to work on certain areas for sure - here some points we do need to respond to nevertheless: - Our internet needs verification as we ensure that our in house guests have great connectivity. - We do understand that the codes cause frustrations but this is the only way to guarantee all your devices have the best connection. - We did apologize: laundry was forgotten once as we understood (not charged) - As you know from our evening entertainment: our speakers are portable on purpose as we do have different set ups - Paddle boards are free to use for our guests, fins are available on demand, we will make sure this is better explained at our briefings. - We have a mix of trained waiters and trainees, and will make sure to indicate the difference better in the future. Thank you again for taking your time to review us. We will do better. Warmest Regard Bamboo Zanzibar Management

This hotel has the appearance of a dream location. Several buildings spread across a large plot on a 6m high cliff adjacent to the sea this is s an excellent place for a photo shoot.
But apart from that it’s a nice place to stay if your budget allows for it. Garden houses are 200€/night and sea view rooms in the cliff are double, both breakfast included. The place has a sun deck with infinity pools and a lower deck with beds and nets high above the beach. Spectacular. In the evening an exclusive BBQ can be consumed for 40€/p excl. drinks but well worth it: perfect tastes and well prepared in front of you.

Went there for dinner a few nights ago and the guy at the hotel restaurant who arranges the taxis completely screwed us over on the cab ride back. Charged 30$ USD to get from Jambiani to Paje. The going rate during the day is 4-5$ and the price at night does increase a bit but come on not 30$. Granted it was my fault for not confirming the price beforehand but 30$ is outrageous. The cab driver basically held us hostage until we paid the money. Absolutely do not recommend this place!

Dear Maura Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. We organize taxis for our outside guests but do not charge them. This is left to the external driver. We fully agree the price for a trip to Paje to be inflated and will investigate which of our third party providers charged this. Our own pricing (restaurant) is readily available online - we share a digital link to all our guests so the charges are clear. In house guests sign a bill before every trip to ensure the costs are clear and no surprises occur. Again - we do feel responsible for your experience and will investigate thoroughly why the external driver overcharged you. Thank you again for your feedback Bamboo Zanzibar Management

I stayed here for a week and I wouldnt have left if I could. The food by the polish renowned chef, the 100 m infinity pool overlooking the ocean, the beautiful spacious rooms with private pool. The staff was so sweet and attentive and helped me organize daily activities such as kite surfing lessons, paddle boarding and open water diving.

Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous natural/untouched setting, lovely and very dedicated staff, delicious food - the perfect place to decompress and enjoy different shades of blue. If you want to explore the rest of the island, the hotel helps in organizing tours with reliable and friendly drivers and trustworthy companies. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bamboo and can highly recommend it.
