The owner perhaps have never stayed in a "boutique" hotel...
The hotel is more likely to a motel, you park the car in front of your ground level room. The room itself has old fashioned furniture and is not really clean.
Breakfast is horrible and you have to pass through the smelling kitchen to go to the dining room...
Don't spent a night here, Lydenburg furthermore is a bad place.

The hotel is situated just outside the city, in a residential area to be specific. The reception area was not ergonomically suited for wheelchair bound patrons. The rooms were accessible, however the family room was small. The aircon was not working until the next day. There were no normal or hotel personalized soap. It was just fluid in a container with no name. Selection of television channels was below standard. Road to the hotel had terrible potholes. Two good experiences, the gentleman working at front desk was friendly and accommodating. Downside is he is working at front desk, chef and maintenance guy. The breakfast was not bad.

1 staff member to cook and serve guests and admin requests. Made every request seem like an issue/task. Very delayed and impersonal service. Food selection was very bad and poorly presented. Would not stay there again.

Very disappointing, The photos are stunning due to a great photographer, but when you get there its a glorified motel. This is not a boutique hotel or a guest house. No glass in the room to drink water. The bathroom window is opposite the neighbor's kitchen door and there is no curtain or blind to be private. (shower or toilet). I showered in the dark coz I was not comfortable. I will not stay here again and I will not recommend it. I am sure this might be good accommodation for some, but for me this was not a good experience.

Service was not too bad, food was not to bad, but the room smelled like tobacco smoke, the showers was not clean as there was black mold in the corners. The one light did not work making it a mission to get things done and the pillows were hard and uncomfortable. Overall this place needs one hell of an makeover. One of the staff members entered the room while my girlfriend was busy dressing and closing his eyes saying sorry. no man! I payed R900 for the night and you get this quality seriously shocking!! Rather go sleep in a shanty next time, at least ill know what to expect.

The Palms Boutique Hotel is just an overnight accomodation venue. It has all the necessities, clean sheets, covered parking and a great breakfast.
I did expect a little bit more, especially in the bathroom (it was not as clean as one would expect and there was soap and shampoo, but it looked like the leftovers from previous guests).

When we checked in, the host was not friendly at all, and it felt like we were an inconvenience.
