Where do I begin? The hotel is the most interesting I have ever stayed in. The building is absolutely unique, the views outstanding, food very good and the staff (all but one) very Friendly. I could have spent a month here but sadly we had two nights. Perfect location the battle ground visits.
I was going to say the unique selling point of this lodge is its location and architecture which are indeed very different but I think the staff are just outstanding. From the very warm welcome from the hosts Shane and Ros with their 'nothing is too much trouble approach', to all the other staff we met. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The lodge is built on a cliff side, all rooms have a stunning view, the food is of a very high standard, delicious and beautifully presented and the little thoughtful touches all go to making this a special experience.
My husband and I have just returned from a 2 night stay at Isandlwana Lodge and loved every minute of our time there. The journey from Johannesburg was long but on the whole an easy drive. The sight of the Lodge tucked into the cliff-face overlooking Isandhlwana and the battle fields, was spectacular. Our luggage was taken up the hill for us and a welcome drink awaited us while we checked in. Ros and Shane are very warm hosts and all the staff are lovely, specially our waitress, Patricia. Our room was spacious and comfortable and having our own private balcony overlooking Isandlwana was wonderful. After exploring the Lodge which is more intimate than I expected, we were so impressed with its construction right up against the cliff- face. The many photos and paintings of the…
We had the very great pleasure of staying at this outstanding hotel for two nights during our whirlwind tour of South Africa. 🇿🇦 The staff were outstanding throughout our entire stay and they genuinely could not do enough for you. All meals were first class as was their lager👍 Our driver was ill during our stay and the managers even offered to take us to our next stage of our journey (Durban) . Fortunately he recovered in time for this not to be needed , but how nice of them to offer. The location of the hotel was stunning with magnificent views of the battlefield from the location of the Zulu commander on the day. Our room was so comfortable and it was a lovely sanctuary after our long trek from Kruger Park through Swaziland to get there. You could not ask for better and…
We spent a night here en route from the Drakensberge to iSimangaliso and managed to squeeze in two battlefield tours in the afternoon and morning, respectively. The location of the hotel is stunning, the building and furniture is inspired by Zulu culture. The bedrooms at either end of the building are lovely, cannot speak for the others, though all have stunning views. Dinner and breakfast is excellent and we were even provided with lunch-packs for the road. We had the place to ourselves. Dalton, the guide for the battlefield tours, is very knowledgeable and quite an actor.
