Me and my many family members were travelling the many Lochs of Northern Scotland, as we do every year. We had never tried staying at the Overscaig, but thought since rare steak was on the menu we might as well give it a bash. I must say we were not pleased we were greeted

Room was very spacious with great view over the lake. There is a nice sitting room for all the guests and a great bar where you can have a drink and where a good diner is served. We loved it that it is a small hotel where you can easily meet with the other guests if you want to.

Had dinner in hotel bar on a rainy Monday evening. Lovely atmosphere and food was great. Would recommend especially if your staying at the B@B next door as it’s so close and not advertised as a dinner spot. In fact we would have preferred to stay at the hotel but it was fully

We cycled from 18 miles from Lairg intending to stop at The Overscraig House Hotel for lunch. On arrival totally ravenous, we couldn’t see anyone around. I entered the reception area and rang both bells, and waited. I could hear someone rustling around so I wandered through to

On your route from Lairg we have 6 hotel signs that state, “Open for food from 5pm”, “Open @5pm” (there are 3 of these), “Sorry we are closed” and finally, “The hotel is closed during the day” - and yet you still tried the front door! You have revealed that you entered our bar – illegally, but you didn't say in your review that you couldn't find the switch for the toilet lights in the bar so you went further into the hotel and found the residents' toilets, which you left splashed with water – clearly you struggled to get the water bottle you were carrying under the taps. When the hotel is closed this is our home – I sat down at my computer in what I thought was an empty building and was extremely surprised that you appeared from inside it. How would you react to an intruder in your home – thank heavens it wasn't my wife you disturbed? Your brass neck is frightening – at the time you admitted to me you knew we were closed and yet you still continued on in to a building where you knew you had no right to be and now you try to say that my behaviour was inappropriate. If anyone, on any level, does what you did, whoever they are they will get the same reaction from me.

We were 2 cyclists on a short cycling trip enjoying the excellent Scottish scenery and looking for a place to have a short break. Stopped at Overscaig. The place was empty only with one person that i could see eating something inside. We sat down on one of the many empty

A Joke: Have you heard the one about 2 cyclists on a remote road. One says to the other, “I'm hungry. Let's stop and eat our sandwiches”, the reply, “But there's no where to sit”. “Don't worry we'll go to that hotel”, “But all the signs say it's opens at 5pm”, “Don't worry we'll sit at the back of the hotel on the table furthest from the door – no one will see us”. “But what if they do?” “Don't worry we'll say we're waiting to be served”, “But they'll see our sandwiches”, “Don't worry we can say we just wanted a cup of tea”, “But these tables are not on the public road, we're not allowed there”, “Don't worry, if anyone says anything we'll write a bad Tripadvisor review – that will show them!” Guys, you have passed your Tripadvisor “miserable” review badge. Now go and offer some kindness of your own and stick to saying something nice about someone – you'll actually make them feel good.
