Hotel's Favourite
We had a very nice 2 night stay at the Rosewood CdB to start at honeymoon. It’s in a beautiful setting, set up on a hill surrounded by forest and it felt like a small little town with all the different buildings. The food was excellent (we ate at both restaurants on site) and the staff was extremely attentive and friendly. It’s nice that they have hiking paths, the ruins of the castle, a little chapel, and the garden to explore so it felt like you could do a lot without leaving the hotel which is pretty removed from anything. Having the winery and the golf course right next to it also gives plenty of options. Our second day was rainy so we enjoyed a great massage at the spa. It’s certainly not cheap but it was a beautiful way to spend some time in Tuscany. I wish we had more time!

Dear nmonaco1, We would like to thank you for choosing our Resort to start your honeymoon, we are honoured that you selected CdB to celebrate such a special occasion. Very slow in email communication to a point that we almost cancelled our reservation initially. Service was average. We said we will head to the pool but no one came around to attend to us. The lunch menu was great but not much of a choice for dinner if you stay here for more than 2 -3 nights. Of note, the waiter was pompous and not happy that we selected a table by the Christmas tree rather than the one he prepared for us. Still, I rather generously rated this property 4/5. Apart from the negatives above, our suites were beautiful, spacious and had great amenities. They have thought of everything! The property owned by the Ferragamo family had signature touches like scents and comfortable robes. (Btw, Portrait Firenze owned and managed by them is far superior in service!) Its perched on a hill at a beautiful location with stunning sunsets, front desk and room service staff were attentive. We did truffle hunting and it was a good experience. We headed to Casanova Di Neri for wine tasting and did the grad cru offering which was fantastic!

Dear Freedom52832230037, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at our Resort on TripdAdvisor and for rating us 4/5. We are disappointed, however, that ahead of your stay email communication with our hotel associates wasn’t as fast as you expected. We apologise for this and you can rest assured that the situation has been rectified since. We are deeply sorry that our restaurant service was not up to expectations. We take your comments very seriously and will investigate this further internally to ensure it doesn’t occur again. We would like to thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding our dining experiences – this is an aspect we are looking to address by providing a wider variety of food and beverage options in the future. We are pleased that you enjoyed our Resort location, the Suites and we are grateful that you recognized our Front Desk and Room Service staff for their attentiveness. Your feedback is much appreciated and it will help us to focus on what we can do better to improve and deliver the finest Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco experience. We hope that you will give us another opportunity to regain your trust in the future and show you the real magic of Tuscany. Kindest regards, Davide Bertilaccio | Regional Vice President and Managing Director Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco

The resort is beautiful, the staff is fantastic and the restaurant is wonderful.
One of my favorite resorts anywhere, the property is extraordinarily well maintained, with the original Borgo and a new area with 20 suites. The suites are immaculate and the views are stunning. The golf course is beautiful and well maintained. There is no reason to leave the resort as it is a wonderful place to relax, eat, drink, hike, swim, play golf or visit the winery. Its a beautiful resort.
The restaurants are outstanding. Fabio runs the restaurants and he is.a warm, energetic and delightful person with a tremendous ability to make his guests feel welcome and well taken care of. His kitchen is fabulous and the food is excellent. The servers are also a reflection of Fabio, warm, caring and on top of their game. They were all great.
The reception, housekeeping, golf and the rest of the staff are world class.

After spending 3 weeks in Italy, across ten 5-star hotels (Park Hyatt Milan, Palazzo Venart, St Regis Florence, Borgo San Felice, Hotel Eden, Caesar Augustus, Hotel Il San Pietro, Palazzo Avino, Baglioni Regina), I can confidently say that this was our worst and least favorite stay in all of Italy.
I'm really disappointed to give this review because this hotel was one of the properties I was most excited to celebrate my honeymoon.
Pros: beautiful property, amazing views, great spa
Cons:
1. This was the ONLY hotel that did absolutely nothing to make our honeymoon feel special (even though I've let them know multiple times), nor did they even acknowledge it.
2, Service - for an extremely expensive property, the service was abysmal. The pool service was awful, staff were cold, said they couldn't speak English, and made me wait for 20 minutes just to get a seat even though there were many open seats available. Room service for breakfast always had issues, whether forgetting to provide bowls or cutlery, or cappuccinos that were spilt. The service at Osteria La Canonica was horrible. I noticed that every table that got seated were offered a bunch of apertivos and small dishes, yet my table was the ONLY one that was not. After I mentioned it to our waiter, she had to "put in the request", even though that was standard for everyone else. They also messed up our food order.
3. Truffle Hunt - this was a complete rip off and was not even close to the description they gave. It felt like we went to a dog park. The truffle hunter hid some fake truffles in a tiny enclosed area, and the 1 dog (not multiple) just went around finding what was placed. The people were lovely, but this was not even close to what the hotel describes as a truffle hunting experience.
For such an expensive resort, this hotel truly did not deliver and failed to live up to expectations. Spent 3 days in Borgo San Felice prior to coming here, and that stay was 100x better in every single way.

Dear juicepak06, Thank you for your review. We are extremely disappointed that your stay did not meet your expectations and we are so sorry about the inconveniences you’ve encountered during your time with us. I instigated this trip to Tuscany with my mom because she’s never been, and to the Rosewood specifically because I’ve always enjoyed my stays in London. And Castiglion del Bosco didn’t disappoint, in the slightest.
The staff was so unbelievably kind and thoughtful… even when we had a slight issue with our beautiful room, they were so attentive and proactively upgraded us so we were comfortable and happy. Their attention to detail leaves you feeling completely taken care of. And the resort is exactly what you come for.
The guest relations, housekeeping, spa, and winery staff were so lovely, my mom was on cloud 9! Can’t wait to come back. Thank you!

I have to say firstly that I have visited this hotel twice before and my stay was incredible. This time round I was so disappointed and I don’t think I will ever come back with my family. The thing that ruined our stay the most was the poor service or should I say lack of. They just don’t have enough staff and everything takes ages. The food quality has also gone down considerable and during our stay of ten days there was only one restaurant open at the hotel and they never changed the menu which was very limited anyway. The kids club was also only operational 4 days a week and it is peak season. Our ten day stay cost us over €20,000 and I have to say the quality and standard of this hotel is not the same and is well below average. I know hotels have been suffering because of covid but we are now staying at the Belmont cipriani in Venice and the quality is exceptional and the food just outstanding.

Dear Chantal I, Many thanks for sharing your feedback on your recent stay with us. Needless to say how sad it is to read your words and learn how your last stay at Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco has failed to meet with your expectations. Nevertheless we truly appreciate your honest feedback, being incredibly helpful in our daily strive to improve our services and provide those experiences Castiglion del Bosco is known for. We are well aware we cannot hide behind the fact that the property has only reopened its doors two months ago after eighteen months of closure due to this unprecedented crisis that has affected the entire World, including us. Indeed our challenges shouldn’t become your problems and we can only apologize for the shortcomings encountered, wishing though you will provide us with another opportunity in the future to prove ourselves. Delightful hotel situated in the middle of a 2000 acre estate in Umbria. Totally isolated so be prepared for a stay limited entirely to the hotel unless you want a 45 minute drive to a neighboring town.
Service and rooms are excellent although request the original buildings and not the new Annex as it is a walk and the rooms are very small. The rooms are spacious and decorated in a beautiful traditional italian way.
They have a beautiful pool overlooking a stunning view of the countryside. Service at the pool was a little frustrating as all food dishes were brought from the main kitchen which is surprising as they have a bar and facilities by the pool.
There are 2 separate restaurants, one is open most of the day and at night serving pasta and salads and then there is a gourmet restaurant open only at night.
The first has a smallish menu that caters to most tastes but is limited in scope.
The evening Drago is really good and although expensive is at a much higher level of food. Booking is needed but staff are very helpful to please and accommodate.
Breakfasts are very comprehensive with a full buffet and also table service. A really good choice of foods and set out beautifully.
This is a resort to come if you want 3/4 days of decompression and calm... they need a better and more professional level to their staff but they certainly are always trying to please.
They never say no and are there to help you enjoy your stay.
Just not quite at 5 star level yet but getting close.

The hotel is located in an amazing countryside area, under unesco protection, and the structure itself is beautiful. The iterior decor lack charachter and could be found in any 5 star hotel around the globe (which is not good).
Quality of service was really variable, the impression is that covid crisis had an impact in staff efficiency and also in the type of clients admitted: nn sense in an hotel with such prices to have familes with children screeming all day from the breakfast, along the day in the swimming pool, and at dinner: if it was Clear the new approach is to become a family hotel i would have not Made my reservation.

Dear Francesco F, thank you for sharing your feedback. Although the interior design of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is probably one its most recognized and unique trademarks, we understand it is often a matter of taste and we are sorry to hear it did not met your expectations. Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco has always been a family friendly resort, it is not a new approach. Having said this, we constantly work for improving the quality of the experience for both families and couples alike so understanding that you did not enjoyed your experience as a couple is a key information for us. We regret to hear that you did not fully enjoyed your stay with us and we deeply apologize for this as we would love our guests to leave this place with fond and lifelong memories. We truly hope you will give us another chance to regain your trust. We left Castiglion del Bosco (CDB) with a sour taste. We feel CDB fails to live up the Rosewood standard. Isolated enough to cost on average 400 euros in transportation (round trip) to visit "close by attractions" such as nearby wineries and towns. Front desk and concierge were not welcoming and off-base in recommendations. Activities and food were crazy-expensive, even for Rosewood standards. Food was limited in options and below average for a Rosewwod resort. I was literally bullied to wear a mask at unreasonable places and times, even while drinking water. It got to a point were I had to start ignoring their unreasonable requests (which was not fun). The kid's club was subpar and unattractive for our kids (who usually love Rosewood kid's clubs). We were overcharged for services we didn't have and even though we disputed them, we were still unilaterally charged (I am still fighting to have them removed).
We can't recommend CBD and wish our travel agency had warned us about this one. NOT coming back.

+1
This is by far the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The setting is magical. The service is sublime. The restaurants are perfect. The mixologist is amazing at the well stocked bar. The rooms (even the cheapest) are large and well appointed. In typical Rosewood fashion the staff is very passionate about providing an authentic local experience and they deliver. My husband, who never thinks fine hotels are worth the money, finally thought this hotel and its fine dinning restaurant were worth the money because they are that special. I feel honored to have been a guest. Thank you for bringing this little slice of heaven down to earth.
