We recently spent a delightful weekend at the Little Gem in Montagu. Located on the west side of the town, it is only about a 10-min walk to the main street and all the shops. It’s also only about a 5-10 min walk to the local park and nature reserve, with great access to the hiking trails. We chose this place because it was dog-friendly and we were traveling with our 2 pooches. The 1-bedroom cottage we stayed in was perfect for a weekend stay. The place was roomy enough, fully furnished, with a small but functional kitchenette. We had a good heater to beat the winter chill, DSTV, and free Wifi internet. Our dogs had the run of the large and leafy secure courtyard. Our host was very friendly and accommodating, providing lots of local information. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it to other travelers as a great base in Montagu.

This really is a little gem set just outside of the main centre but within short walking distance and a very pretty walk at that. The room has everything you could possible need for basic breakfast cooking or light bite preparation. Nice secluded patio area to enjoy breakfast j the sunshine. Only gets a four star because lack of bathroom door, not as biggie for me but it would be for some and wouldn't take much to install. Didn't meet Janet but she did ensure someone was available when we arrived to collect the key and again on departure so all very convenient.

Stayed here for a night whilst travelling through and found it to be in a nice quiet area, good location and facilities. Nice big room which has a bbq, microwave, fridge and plenty of utensils, and a nice little seating area outside to eat. One thing that may bother some people is that there is no bathroom door just a screen but the toilet is behind a walled part of the bathroom so your privacy is not really compromised if that bothers you. Secure off road parking also.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights at Little Gem Thatch Cottage. Janet welcomed us professionally but didn't "crowd" us during our stay. The accommodation is well equipped with everything you need for a short stay, especially the modern bathroom and kitchen as well as excellent wi-fi. The garden was perfect for the three dogs who had some space to stretch their legs, and both sunny and shady spots to enjoy the fresh air of Montagu. We all enjoyed the walks in and around town, as well as the bicycle tour with Flying Feet and our dinner at 22 Church Street.

True to its word - a Little Gem. What a treat. Spent the night - everything that was promised and more. Janet is so helpful and friendly. Highly recommend and would definitely go back
Easy walking distance to the town - very comfortably fitted out. TV - Internet - most comfortable and very reasonable.

Lovely quiet area of town and when you arrive make a phone call to get the gate opened. I suppose the facilities are good with a barbecue area, which we did not use because of cold weather. The no door to the bathroom or toilet, doesn't do it for me. There was a screen you could pull across the opening - no thank you. To crown it all, the hot water in the basin didn't work, so waiting for warm water to shave and trying to save precious water didn't work.

We loved our stay in Thatch cottage. Not only was it fully equiped to suit our self service needs best of all it is pet friendly. Our Rottweiler princess loved being with us on this trip. The fenced yard makes it ideal for pet and owner. Janet and her two fur buddies went out of their way to make us feel welcom. We will definitly go back to explore some more of Montgu and surrounds.

lovely self catering cottage away from the rather busy centre of Montagu. Janet advised me to do a cycle towards the Koo valley. Good tip. Challenging but almost traffic free route except for the tractors transporting the grape harvest. Also try Capedry fruit farm stall instead of Montagu dried fruit

After a long drive we arrived at this beautiful self catering cottage situated in a restful part of Montagu away from the main hustle and bustle of the main town. Everything one needs is provided. Janet, the owner is very friendly and has advice on any questions about the area. We really enjoyed our stop over here.

We stayed in a different unit this time and it was just as charming and well equipped as the last one. Comfortable and spacious and spotlessly clean. A patio out the front overlooks a shady peaceful garden filled with birds. We had a perfect stay.
