We really enjoyed our night at the Malherbe Guesthouse in Montagu. The Dutch owners were very friendly and helpful and the rooms are really beautiful and very big with huge bathrooms. Everything is spotless clean and there are so many small details in the rooms that make life easier. Breakfast was a treat in the morning with self-made bread, choice of eggs, fruit and yoghurt. Great place to stay in Montagu!

My wife and I stayed in Montagu after a road trip across South Africa and used it as a base of operations of sorts for venturing into the surrounding areas and Cape Town for activities, hiking, wineries, and the sort. We arrived at the Malherbe Guesthouse and were quickly helped to our room. The rooms are tucked back among a beautiful garden that provides a lot of comfort and privacy. Our room was fantastic! Very modern and comfortable with lots of outlets, a fridge, a television, a huge bath, and a very nice shower. The lounge area of the guesthouse itself was comfortable and we were provided a delicious breakfast by the owner each day. The guesthouse is also walking distance to a Spar, pharmacy, and some nice small businesses in Montagu, which made it very convenient for the shopping we needed to do between outings. The pool was also very nice for the hot days if we were back in town in the afternoon. All in all would highly recommend this guesthouse!

From the moment we were welcomed by Micky to our departure, everything we wanted was provided. The room is spacious and comfortable with lovely en-suite bathroom and terrace overlooking the swimming pool. LED light for load sharing. Great advice on restaurants and walking tour of Montagu. A wonderful breakfast the next morning of fresh produce outside on the terrace. Very convenient for restaurants and the town centre.

This is an excellent bed and breakfast. The rooms are very spacious, and spec clean and the garden which they surround is lovely. The hosts provide a nice breakfast, and know everything about the town and neighborhood. Strongly recommend!

Very nice rooms, spacious, decorated with taste and perfectly clean. The garden is very pleasant and relaxing, and the fresh, home made breakfast is a pleasure. Location is very good as it is walking distance from the centre and the restaurants.

Unfortunately only stayed one night at the Malherbe - stylish "bungalow" room with all needs catered for with attention to detail. Attentive service from Joop and Micky, especially for breakfast. Micky charming and great cook! Montagu Fruit & Nut Co worth visiting for incredible selection of dried fruits to take home.

We stayed two nights and wish we could've stayed longer. Breakfasts are amazing, service is unobtrusive, incredibly friendly and helpful.

Montagu itself is a treat and Malherbe made it even better. First class room/balcony/pool area-every part exuding class and attention to detail. We loved it.

We had driven through Montagu before but never stayed. We selected Malherbe for our 4 night stay and what a good choice. Micky and Joop were very welcoming without being overbearing. We were shown to our deluxe poolside room and it was spacious and delightful although given the amount of space some more storage area for clothes would have been possible and useful.
The breakfasts were always different and prepared with great care-delicious and a treat eating outside under the vine.
We had no problem filling 3 full days exploring this interesting and scenically beautiful area thanks to the excellent advice from M and J.
Good restaurants were within easy walking distance and like a previous reviewer we found Ye Olde Tavern excellent value for money and very friendly.

We stopped at the Malherbe Guesthouse for one night as part of our drive along Route 62, we really enjoyed our stay and could easily have stayed longer.
The property is easily found right on the main road, but no road noise whatsoever. There are just a few rooms set in a lovely garden, with a small but very adequate pool, which was great after a long hot drive.
The rooms are spotlessly clean, well appointed and with a super bathroom. Our room had a veranda with table and chairs.
Breakfast was served to us at a table in the garden and was really enjoyable.
The owners were very welcoming and sociable.
Montagu itself is a pleasant little town with a small choice of restaurants, but more than adequate for a brief stay, these are a short safe walk from the property.
Overall a short but sweet stay and we would certainly recommend a stop here.
