Avalon Springs has recently undergone a major refurbishment of all the pools and the bar. Guests and Day Visitors are welcome. This project started in May 2022 and was supposed to be completed in December 2022, however there are still a few outstanding issues which are being completed by the various contractors. The Day Visitor supertube slide has been working well for the past six months, however, the one on the resident's side will only be complete shortly! All the pools have been completed and are still naturally filled by spring water which bubbles to the surface at around 41.5 degrees in winter. Pool temperatures range between 29°C and 36.5°C, providing ample choice for bathers depending on how warm or cool they want to go. Visitors have flocked to this area for decades to soak away stress and soothe their aches and ailments in the water from this ‘miracle spring’ This magnificent resort, situated approx 200 Kms from Cape Town is nestled in the foothills of the surrounding Cogman's Kloof. The resort offers a range of self-catering and hotel accommodation.

Detailed Reviews
When I made the booking on the 19.08.20 for 21.09.20 till 24.09.20 I requested and was promised accommodation on the lower level (my husband had bilateral hip replacement) only to be placed on the highest level. I called in on 2 occasions to confirm my room number and was told that could only be given on the day of arrival. This really put a damper on our stay as the golf cart only drives till 21h30 and therefore could not use the pool after that as going up to the chalet in the dark was difficult.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review and share your experiences following your recent stay at Avalon Springs. Whilst it is always rewarding when a guest has enjoyed their stay, we also take our guests' feedback extremely seriously. Our Mountain Chalets are usually booked well in advance and unfortunately, although we will always try to accommodate guest’s requests, especially those with mobility challenges, we cannot guarantee a particular unit number, or the units lower down (as there are only a handful of them). There may be unforeseen circumstances which prevent occupation of a particular unit and obviously in-house guests will always get priority over a new arrival but will always give occupation in a unit of a similar size and type. Unfortunately, since the lockdown level has permitted us to trade, we are still not fully operational and all our staff leave the property at 21:30. Hopefully we will be able to resume normal operations in the near future. I would like to offer my sincerest apologies for any inconvenience which you may have experienced, but I am very happy to hear that despite the above, you still enjoyed your stay. Once again, thank you for your comments and your understanding, as it is only through feedback and constructive criticism from our valued guests such as yourself that we can monitor our performance and improve our service.

The staff at Avalon Springs is of the most efficient, friendliest, humble and polite I've ever came across at a holiday destination. They take pride in what they do & have a passion for customer interaction. Resort was well maintained during this lockdown period & the family felt safe with all surrounding at their disposal. Will definitely recomment this destination to family & friends...

Avalon Springs is such a wonderful place; The staff are absolutely amazing. From reception to housekeeping and porters, extremely friendly and professional. They go out of their way to make sure your stay is memorable.
The check in process was smooth they offer welcome drinks and some juice and sweets for the kids as well.
All staff are locally employed and make you feel as you are part of the family. Special mention to the Porter Eugene and Riaan who made the booking, Eugene took us for a short tour of the place and was extremely professional and helpful. Riaan made the booking process extremely easy.
The pools were nice and warm. We were with our kids and we love the fact that they could go for an indoor swim at night time the pools are open 24/7. The kids enjoyed the shop with a large variety of food drinks and sweets and to top it of everything was so very affordable. They offer daily activities for adults and kids.
The rooms were so clean and was cleaned daily towels and robes was also replenished daily. Lovely outdoor braai facilities, nice trail to walk. Our stay was very memorable and would surely be back.
Thank you so much and well done to Avalon springs team see you soon

The hotel should really be downgraded to one star. Geysers have no hot water even though you complain every day. Each maintenance guy that comes has a different reason for the cold water but problem still doesn't get solved. The irony is that the notice in the shower says take 2minute showers to save water.. But you let the shower run for 20minutes hoping the water will get a little warm.

In celebration of my 50th milestone we celebrated at Avalon Springs with family and friends and both the hotel and mountain chalets. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay everything ran smoothly, we were met with friendliness and helpfullness around each turn. We could relax and enjoy everything the resort had to offer - we took late night swimming, walks during the day to the caves and hikes. Avalon has met all and above my expectation and will surely make my way there again. The food at the Cogman's restaurant was of high quality and very well priced.

Friendly staff and clean facilities, there is a minimal maintanance top up here and there required. As a suggestion can there be a umbrella or permanent fixture put over the jacuzzi located on the deck of the hotel srooms 10 & 11 as the sun is very hot in the morning and just before the sun sets in the evening, would also be a nice setting for the evenings to be able to sit in the jacuzzi during the colders days with a roof over the jazcuzzi.Overall very good stay

We normally love coming back, but this weekend leaves me apprehensive. On arrival, our confirmed paid mountain chalet had been shifted to another because the occupants decided to stay on in the unit we had booked. Management has been rather unaccountable as to reasons why and oblivious that they were at fault at us arriving at the resort and only then hearing of these changes not communicated at all. The occupants should have, if possible, been accommodated in a unit which was available and not in the unit we had booked and paid for in advance. Management had not accepted responsibility for the situation.

Whilst it is always rewarding when a visitor has enjoyed their stay, we also take our guest feedback extremely seriously. Unfortunately, although we will always try to accommodate guests’ requests, we cannot guarantee a particular unit number, but will always give occupation in a unit of a similar type. We also do not inconvenience our in-house guests by moving them for one night, unless absolutely necessary. When it comes to unit allocation, an in-house guests will always get priority over a new arrival (what happens if the new guest does not arrive?). As stated on your provisional reservation sent to you on 29 October, and again on 11 November (after you had changed your dates), “we do not confirm unit numbers in advance and we reserve the right to move bookings as per our operations requirements.” I would like to offer my sincere apologies for any inconvenience which you may have experienced by this misunderstanding, but am pleased to hear that despite the above, you still enjoyed your stay. Once again, thank you for your comments and your understanding, as it is only through feedback from our valued guests such as yourselves that we can monitor our performance and improve our service.

This resort had always been pristine and after coming back after 35 years, it still remains pristine due to good management. There are still improvements being made to increase the holiday experience. The self catering apartments are well maintained and the grounds and pool areas are outstanding. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and never missed a beat. The only concerns I have is the ageing water slide which really need an injection and standby lighting, especially in these days of load shedding which seems to be the order of the day for many years to come. Our apartment were close to the staff facilities and it would be great if their loud chatter every morning could be addressed as it wakes one up very early with the chatter and noise generated by them. But overall, a well run resort with excellent management qualities

The service was impeccable, especially from the gentleman who serve in the hotel restaurant. The staff was helpful and friendly. The young man at the gate was friendly as well. The conference centre which I believe belongs to Montague spirngs needs proper upkeep. The conference facilities were not up to standard

A good resort but sadly lacking in terms of maintenance and cleanliness. More can be done to fix and clean up the chalets and tidy the outdoor pool area and the mountain chalet jacuzzi area. On turning over the sun lounger cushions the spider were found and their eggs sitting between the wooden slats, clearly many months of breading.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review and to put into writing your experiences following your recent stay at Avalon Springs. Whilst it is always rewarding to hear when guest has enjoyed their stay, we also take our guest feedback extremely seriously and it was with some concern that I read your comments, particularly regarding the cleanliness and maintenance around the chalet. I have addressed your concerns with the relevant Heads of Department to ensure that the appropriate corrective action and necessary refresher training is implemented to prevent a recurrence. For the past two years we have been planning a major upgrade for the entire pool area, including new cold water pools, a new indoor pool, and other facilities. Plans for Phase 1 were approved by the local Municipality and construction was due to commence in May 2020 to be completed by December 2021. Unfortunately, COVID happened and our plans were placed on hold. We are now looking at upgrading the area from May 2022. I would like to offer my sincere apologies for any inconvenience which you may have experienced, but trust that despite the above, you still enjoyed your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back to Avalon in the near trust that your next stay will be a more enjoyable one. Once again, thank you for your comments, as it is only through feedback and constructive criticism from our valued guests such as yourselves that we can monitor our performance and improve our service.

The best way is via telephone - call 023 614 (Ext 402/405) or hold for the operator.
You can also book through one of the on -line travel agents (OTAs) but I prefer speaking to a person who can answer any wuetsions I may have regarding the property and it's facilities.
Avalon Springs does not have its own conference centre, but we do have access to the one at Montagu Springs, our neighbour (a 5 minute walk away!)
Avalon still does the set up and catering there.
Please call 023 614 1150 for more information.
Avalon now has a 200Mb fibre line running into the hotel, which is then connected to all areas via the wi-fi system.
With load shedding, there have been minor issues (usually on start up) , but we have a 500KVa generator that kicks in automatically, so wi-fi is usually not a problem
There is free wireless internet in so rooms and I'm public areas
