We stayed in one of two luxury safari tents.
The safari tents are placed within a grove of acacia trees that separates and screens you from the farm.
The farm is a working farm, so don't be surprised to being woken at 4h45 to the noise of heavy machinery - as we did on the 4th January.
The tents are comfortable and well appointed. They offer almost everything you may need for a great stay - except a braai grid !!!
There were a ridiculous amount of scatter cushions and pillows, good quality bedding and an excellent mattress (but did I mention NO BRAAI GRID !) Yes, we were slightly peeved, after making the perfect coals, marinating the meat, selecting the right braai tongs from the many kitchen utensils, only then to discover that our hosts omitted a braai grid in their inventory.
Sitting on our cement porch we saw a civet, many birds and a shy mongoose looking for scraps.
We bought a braai grid the next day and otherwise enjoyed a lovely stay.

We spent a lovely weekend in Duiker cottage. How wonderful to arrive and find a sparkling clean house, beautifully appointed and really well equipped. Thank you to Sankie and staff. Great jungle gym for kids and swimming pool.

We stayed at the Duiker cottage.
Pros the place has lots of intruders, there were at least 4 geckos in each room, brown cockroaches, we saw some rats by the balcony even a Scorpio by the parking bay. We do not think that the place has done any pest control recently. Yes it’s in the nature reserve however all these inspects and bugs were way too many. Then please be aware in advance all the required consuming goods, the place that the cottage barely offers toilet paper and some soap however it wasn’t available any consuming good like coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, shampoo, wash soap or any cleaning products. Lastly, the main bedroom mattress was extremely small if you are taller that 1.75cm get ready to suffer plus all this creepy noise coming from the roof probably some rats or any other animals are living in there and their movements create random noises especially during the night. Moreover, the internet signal is quite weak and the swimming pool is too small.
Cons, the scenery and sou rounding are quite beautiful , a very quite peaceful place, the cottage offers all the equipment that you need for cooking, braaiing and the air con and Dstv are fine.

My wife and daughter and I stayed over for one night.

We did not get the room we initially reserved. There is also a sign in the kitchen stating that if we don't do the dishes, they will charge 50ZAR extra...what are we paying for?!

There is a fireplace and braai. No wood is provided. Also no coffee or sugar. I know it is self catering but these small things is the difference between 2star and 4-5star.

Will not be staying over again.

This was our 6th time staying at Badensfontein and certainly will not be our last! Charming self catering properties with outstanding views and very pleasant, helpful
hosts that own the farm.
Sankie’s home and office is surrounded by a most beautiful garden comprising indigenous plants and the most stunning rose garden. Her staff are very helpful offering a variety of useful jobs you may need and son Jean Pierre has an enormous wealth of knowledge of the wine industry. For us to sit relaxing and look at the views over the vineyards is most excillerating, peaceful and one of the main reasons for our visits.

We LOVED our cottage. Our intention to stay one night ended up with 3 nights. We felt most welcome on our arrival and our cottage was absolutely perfect in every way. Comfortable with beautiful fresh clean linen, towels. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need, air conditioner for the hot Karoo days/nights. Beautiful positioned swimming pool overlooking the vines. I would highly recommend this place to all our friends and family. Very impressed.

The service was perfect, even though we arrived late in the evening. Ruby was incredibly clean and neat. The view is just stunning and we loved the stoep area. It would be great to go back in summer again!
