Pure, sweet freedom. Nothing around you, nothing encumbering you, what seems like the entire world at your feet as nothing obstructs your view in any direction, and not a soul around to destroy the beautiful moment unfolding before you. The setting of the three kingfisher cottages outside Montagu was so naturally beautiful, it quietened the mind.

This is a remote and beautiful spot . We loved walking and finding fossils and dipping in the eco pool . The young couple who owe the farm and charming and kind and nothing was too much trouble including posting my left items back to me . Their trout is delicious too , good place to eat well as far from temptations , we bought our own meat which we cooked on the very efficient built in brai . We hope to return soon the cottage was beautifully furnished and equipped.

If you looking for peace and quiet in the beautiful surroundings of the bush, then this is your place. The cottages are beautiful with everything you could need. Amazing fireplace which warms the while place in 5 min. There are a few hikes to do on the farm which are awesome and a nice natural swimming pool. The only thing I would suggest is a comfy couch to be able to laze inside when the weather is poor.

For solitude, peace and beauty there is little to rival Two Dam Sustainable. The Karoo landscape is exquisite, the accommodation enchanting, the walks invigorating, and hosts, Marco and Vivian, among the best of them. And there isn’t better trout to be found anywhere. All in all, a little bit of heaven.

Exceeded every expectation we had. Great hosts, Great setting, Great experience, More than value for money. This was one of our best experiences yet. Availability at Kingfisher Cottages will most definitely become a problem once word gets out of this gem so close to Cape Town.

Beautiful cottage built off grid and with traditional building techniques. Very peaceful surroundings, however the fridge was very noisy which detracted from the complete serenity and quiet the farm offers. Would highly recommend a stay here to recharge ones batteries.

We spent 7 nights over Christmas at the Pied Kingfisher Cottage (best location in my opinion as at the top end of the row and closest to the eco pool). My 72 + 66-year-old in-laws managed the walks to Echo Pools, East Sundowners and Leopard trails with their walking sticks and we all enjoyed the tour of the sustainable trout farm, learning about the area and fish farming. The cottage is finished with everything you need, and the quality of the furnishings are top class. The view from the house is next level and we enjoyed many sunrises and sunsets from the porch, braai'd often and only went into Montagu to stock up on groceries. Order the trout for a delicious treat on warm days, as well as for when you are home!

We were looking for a remote weekend away to recharge and spend time in nature - this was absolutely perfect. The Eco Houses are beautiful and comfortable, with calm interiors and well equipped with everything one could need for a comfortable stay. Spectacular views in all directions. We hiked up to Echo Pool - a lovely hike up a kloof - and enjoyed watching the sun go down from the Eastern Sundowner Spot. Vivian is a wonderful host and showed us how the trout farm functions - if you visit, make sure you spoil yourselves with some of the delicious and sustainably produced trout products. We will definitely go back for a longer stay!
