Set against the backdrop of the Langeberg mountains, Olive Stone Farm is situated in the heart of Montagu and is within walking distance from cafes, breweries, restaurants, hiking trails, art galleries, coffee shops and more. The tastefully decorated luxury self-catering stone cottages are enveloped by an olive grove of 700 trees which ensures a romantic and tranquil atmosphere. Each cottage has its own private rock pool for summer and a fireplace for the winter Karoo nights as well as braai facilities. Each cottage has a wood fired hot tub. Daily activities on Olive Stone Farm include taking care of all the free-range animals, collecting chicken eggs from hiding places, bottling our olive oil from the barrels, composting the rose and vegetable garden, pruning the olive trees and generally just caring of this beautiful piece of land. In autumn the Mission and Frantoio olives are hand-picked and pressed to produce oil that is soft on the palate and sweet to the taste. Experience farm living redefined.

Andrew and Elaine are the most wonderful hosts that we ever had at any guest house. "Thank you for making our week end away, just amazing"
The cottages, only 3 of them, are located inside an Olive Grove, which is a working farm lovingly tended to by this lovely couple. The attention to detail is intriguing making every corner someting that you want to explore. , The super King Size bed with superb quality linen makes you feel pampered. A wood burning stove, warmed up the cottage during the chilly winter weather. The contrast of the cold Karoo morning while having a hot outside shower looking at the mountains around Montague is a sensation that I will never forget.
The Cottages have a well equipped kitchenette, private plunge pool, ensuit bathroom and secure parking for your car.
I can recommend this as the best accommodation that you could whish for while exploring Route 62.
Andrew thank you for good advice for sorting out my own six olive trees.
Elaine thank you for bringing us the chandeliers from your own dining room table, to give us ample candle light during load shedding.
Hope to see you soon.

The cottages are immaculately clean, cosy and very private. They have a splash pool with water that’s so fresh; I would almost call it crispy!
The kitchen is provided with everything you need to cook and there’s a braai (bbq) but there are also some very nice restaurants on walking distance.
Wanda is a friendly and helpful host and her husband makes delicious olive oil.
In short: highly recommend!

The cottages are beautiful and private in peaceful surroundings. Bonus, our spaniel could accompany us and seemed to enjoy the surroundings as much as we did. The outside shower was an absolute treat and the locally produced soaps and cream in the bathroom turned everything into a heavenly experience. We had beautiful sunny weather and thoroughly enjoyed being able to cool off in our own private swimming pool - sal ons wat verbeel! In the kitchen, free range eggs, rusks and olive oil from the farm completed the experience. Johan and Wanda are very attentive hosts. We want to thank them for sharing their beautiful property with us.

Fully private, big exclusive garden, verandah with outside carpet and furniture, sun deck chairs, swimming pool, hot tub, luxury linen, designer layout and decor to the point of the turkish waffle weave dish cloth.Brand name appliance, fantastic gas oven, even a portable USB/Blue tooth speaker/radio receiver. This is self catering, but the kitchen was stocked by farm fresh eggs and milk. Idyllic. Guests can help themselves to the herb garden or walk into town to an array of coffee shops, art galleries and restaurants. Fantastic host. Laundry was delivered with a string of herbs and a handwritten message. Out of this world. Just go. Or then: don't tell. Best secret. I've stayed at more expensive with much less comfort, cosiness and peace. Though I travelled solo, it is actually ideal for couples.

We took a five day well in advanced planned hiatus to this beautiful farm. We've booked in January already.
We were just looking forward to get away, somewhere our furkids are also welcome, and really didn't give much thought about it again. Clean bed, secure fence, then we are happy...
But, oh boy, I think I am now spoiled for life after experiencing the Olive Cottage...
The attention to detail is absolutely amazing! There was not one single thing we lacked in the beautiful well appointed cottage. The quality of the towels, the bedding, cutlery, fluffy gowns and the effort put into making our stay comfortable and memorable took my breath away and made our stay even more special. Added extras such as olive oil from the farm, fresh eggs from the farm, milk, very efficient home made insect repellent, ample wood, enough fire starters, home made rusks... etc and a list of olive related products to buy from the farm.
I almost don't want to post this review... I feel a bit as if I want to keep this place all to myself...
Wanda and Johan, thank you for making it possible for guests to experience something so special.

This is outstanding accommodation. A year ago it was taken over by Wanda & Johan; they have a clear vision for their future and improvements to an establishment that was impressive before they arrived. Just off the R62 ...and you can occasionally hear the traffic but it is NOT intrusive... the plot has many olive trees (their olive oil is very good) and railed fields for sheep and chickens - a delight to wake up to. The 3 cottages are spaced out and very well equipped. Most comfortable. We wouldn’t hesitate to return when we’re passing this way again during our extensive travels.

This truly is an experience not to be missed. Our hosts, Wanda and Johan went out of their way to ensure that we had a memorable and relaxing stay. Our cottage, which is one of three on a working farm was beautifully quaint and perfectly appointed and equipped with our every possible need catered for. The bedding was home from home comfortable and the bathroom and kitchen well considered.

The cottage is very private with its own plunge pool and wood fired hot tub for evening sundowners!
Prior to our arrival, Wanda ensured that we had sufficient information regarding the town and its restaurants and activities.

All in all an exceptional short stay and one that we will repeat in the near future. We highly recommend Olive Stone!

Johan and Wanda are the most consumate hosts you could wish for and have produced from this perfect olive farm one of the most delightful set of cottages you could wish for. Very private (even the exterior), packed with heritage features but all the essentials you need (including, most importantly for me, a dedicated wifi router per cottage).

Standard of linen and bedding very high indeed, toiletries and cleanliness. Loved loved the plunge pool (took my refreshing morning dip at 7 a.m. and dived into the hot shower after that.

Will be back!

Ideally located in the heart of Montagu, just 2 hours outside Cape Town on a working olive farm ( their olive oil is deliciously mellow and fruity). The cottages are beautifully designed, rustic, ecofriendly but fully equipped with everything you need and everything you forgotten to pack ( e.g. plugs and adapters). Wanda and Johan communicated excellently with personal touches, for e.g. A hand drawn map of the town with everything you need to know. Their 'n a swimming pool, wood fired hot tub and fully equipped braai and kitchen. You can cook up a storm with their complementary free range organic eggs and full use of their vegetable garden. Truelly a wonderful stay and will definitely make this a permanent stopover with our trips to Cape Town. Just wish our stay was longer.

Our stay at Olive Stone Farm was a highlight of our road trip. We were welcomed by Wanda and well looked after through our two night stay; the cottages have been designed to ensure the privacy of guests with their own garden, plunge pool and hot tub.

You have the option to relax on the property and or explore Montagu, most of the places within the town are close by. The braai and breakfast baskets are packed with delicious food, loved the home made products!

Thank you for your hospitality XX
