Montagu was founded in 1851 on the farm Uitflucht. The first properties, which were sold along Long Street, became small “town farms” and today The Klein Nektar Wine & Olive Estate is one of the most picturesque of these town farms. Built in 1860, this beautiful town farm Cape Dutch dwelling was one of two heritage houses with a cellar forming an integral part of the main house. The property forms part of an important historical and architectural heritage of Montagu. The property developed as the Klein Nektar Farm Cottages and Klein Nektar Luxury Manor Suites. Situated along the very popular Route 62 which links two main cities namely Cape Town and Port Elizabeth has made this 3-hectare town farm dwelling surrounded by the majestic Langeberge a favourite amongst many foreign and local visitors. The Estate is within easy walking distance from restaurants and shops. Take a deep breath and take it all in…….

Detailed Reviews
We loved staying at the self-catering cottage! It's spotless, stylishly furnished and is tucked away at the end of the farm ensuring privacy and calm. We went on a particularly chilly weekend but the cottage was warm, more than enough wood was supplied for the fire and the beds had winter linen on so that was a great touch. Although one is in a farm setting, in the peace and quiet, we were able to stroll our for a dinner or to buy some supplies the next day. We imagine its just wonderful in summer with its deep stoep and braai facilities. Thanks guy!

We spent 3 nights at the self-catering cottage at Klein Nektar and it was amazing. Although there is no electricity we hardly noticed as there are solar powered lights in each room - which were amazing.
Taking Kai's recommendation we had lunch at 22 Church Street which was very good. We also did a couple of hikes which we could walk to from the cottage.
Picking fruit from the farms fruit trees for breakfast was also great fun.
We hope to return soon.

Little Nectar Cottage is one of those wonderful places that crosses your path not so often! We stayed for the weekend and it was lovely! Kai, the hostess and owner, was from the word go very professional. She has put so much effort and love into our stay to make sure that all was perfect! Detailed information was sent per mail the moment the booking was confirmed. The photos on AirBnB is lovely, but to be there in person is something you cannot describe. It is very conveniently situated in town, close to all the little shops and lovely restaurants. Although you are so close to town, you only experience silence and peace that is part of a farm stay. The cottage is beautifully decorated with lovely unique furniture, quality linen, wonderful art etc. The kitchen is well equipped. The bathrooms clean and bright. Kai thought of the smallest detail. Thank you for sharing your beautiful farm with us! We will cherish the lovely weekend for ever and the beautiful memories will last a life time!

Beautiful house, beautiful garden with a swimmingpool. No airconditioning, the electricity goes off at night for a few hours and so does the fan in the sleepingroom. It was very hot the time we stayed. I would recommand a generator to take over the ours without electricity, so the fans in the sleepingrooms keep on working. We had a beautiful bathroom with a bath, but it was not easy to shower in the bath without making a total mess. A great place to stay, nice hosts but some practical solutions for electricity and bathroom would improve the accomodation.

Relaxing spot inside the town of Montagu. Nice wood fired hot tub. You can walk through the farm, pick fruit from the trees and walk into town easily. Easy drive from Cape Town (approx 2hrs), space for kids to play. Some nice amenities supplied by Henk and the Klein Nektar team.

The Cottage is situated in a beautiful olive tree garden, very cosy and quiet with well equipped kitchen. We were most lucky to be there at the time when oranges, guavas and pomegranates had fruits ready to pick! The owner generously allowed us to taste them as much as we liked. One can also use a hot tub installed next to the cottage. Really excellent place where I hope to come back!

We had a wonderful stay at Klein Nektar. Our hosts have been very welcoming and friendly and was just a phonecall away if we needed assistance. Beautiful little cottoge, very clean and well equiped with all the necessary items you will need for your stay. The area and nature around us was a absolute bonus.

The service from our host, Henk, was great, including a welcome drink, wine stocked in the fridge, farm-made olive oil, complimentary jam also make from the farm. The house was very clean and bedding comfortable. The location was excellent in proximaty to town while staying on a farm. Henk gave us wonderful suggestions of activities to do in and around town. The house was cold but so enjoyed having an indoor fireplace.

A beautiful listed house! Wonderfully situated with a view of the mountains. A huge house, furnished with some antique furniture, with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a large living area, great kitchen (with original ancient oven), great outdoor area and a beautiful pool. At the reception there was wine, homemade jam, eggs, freshly baked bread, thank you very much for that! We felt very comfortable and really enjoyed the time. Many thanks also to Henk for the great reception and the service.

This is a lovely large quiet cottage on an olive farm. We loved the space and views of the farm. The only sounds were that of nature - rooster included - though we found him a good alarm clock. It happened to be rainy and cold the night we stayed so we made good use of the wood burning stove. That made things quite romantic though the rest of the cottage was a bit uncomfortably cold (we are Texans who thrive in the heat to be fair). We would love to return later in the spring or summer and take advantage of some of the fantastic outdoor space.
