Our stay at the Victorian 1906 was great. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
The rooms was large, well fitted out, clean and comfortable.
Breakfast was good. Location is perfect, and one gets access to the Avalon Springs as a guest of the hotel.

Very enjoyable stay over the weekend of 11 to 14 November. Hotel is quaint and aesthetically pleasing and compliments the surroundings of Route 62 in the Karoo town of Montagu. The staff are absolutely fantastic especially Calvin and Yolanda who are ever-present, helpful and of service. Fresh and vibrant. The WIFI service is excellent. Must visit! Again...

We spent 2 nights here. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of excellent restaurants, safe to walk at night. Room was spacious and very comfortable. The host/Manager - Charne is superb and made our stay very special! Breakfast was good, service excellent. The bonus of free access to Avalon Springs was fantastic, we only spent an afternoon there, and it was fabulous. You get guest access to all the facilities and a day here would be recommended, including a visit to the spa if you’re organized and book in advance. Food and drink at both properties are well priced. We visited Barrydale cellars for a brandy tasting and the Karoo Saloon for lunch and drinks overlooking the Karoo vegetation. Awesome day out!

A group of 4 friends went to this very charming and beautiful little Hotel in the center of Montagu.
From the minute we checked in, swiftly I might add we were shown to our rooms and was very impressed.
I had a suite upstairs with a balcony overlooking the Main Street, still not noisy at all, great big shower and bath. Bedding was new and fresh.
My friends had rooms’ downstairs next t to the pool, also grand and luxurious.

We had 2 breakfasts, include in the rates. Full continental and hot items ordered with the waiter.Neverending cups of fresh coffee or tea.
Afternoon drinks on the “stoep” is rather fun, checking out the locals. Bar area with a big screen TV are next to the reception desk
Dinner was made especially for our group on the Saturday evening and what a great and tasty night we had.

Nice restaurants in town are plentiful and a little market on Saturdays. Wine and cheese tastings can be arranged at the vineyards in the areas.

This place has the most caring and on the ball GM ever and this rubs off on the friendly and helpful staff
Thank you all for making our weekend spectacular, we will most certainly be back

Staff friendly and helpful, only disappointment is that this hotel is part of a hospitality training programme which is not mentioned on the website. and staff leave the property at 6pm,therefore there are no kitchen services or bar facilities after then.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review and to share your experiences following your recent stay at The Vic 1906. Whilst it is always rewarding when a guest has enjoyed their stay, we also take our guest feedback extremely seriously and I was most concerned to read your comments about the restaurant and bar. Booking.com does state that the restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch. On our website main page it states that there is a restaurant where they (guests) can enjoy either breakfast or lunch. On the facilities page under “Restaurant” it states that “The Vic 1906 offers guests a full spread every morning until 10am. Light meals can be ordered throughout the day from the kitchen until 5pm.” Usually, arriving guests are asked if the staff can keep the bar open for them, however it would appear that this did not happen and I will take this up with the Campus Manager, to ensure that the appropriate refresher training is implemented. I would like to offer my sincere apologies for any inconvenience which you may have experienced by these inconsiderate individuals, but am pleased to hear that despite the above, you still enjoyed your stay. Your kind comments regarding the staff (students) are greatly appreciated. We look forward to welcoming you back to The Vic in the near future, and trust that your next stay will be as enjoyable. Once again, thank you for your comments and your understanding, as it is only through feedback from our valued guests such as yourselves that we can monitor our performance and improve our service.

We booked a spontaneous weekend away in Montagu with friends. The Vic 1906 was great. It's well located and within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The room was perfect for our stay and included a great breakfast! The staff made great restaurant recommendations and are also able to book tables for you. Over all great stay!

This is a small hotel/guesthouse located on the main street (Bath Street) of Montagu. The rooms are surprisingly well appointed and comfortable with quality bedding and towels. Breakfast was well prepared and the staff friendly and helpful. The from desk closes at 8pm and thereafter entrance is via a side entrance with no staff on site which could trouble some people. The hotel is associated with the Avalon Springs and guest have entrance to the hot springs which was a great experience on a cool autumn evening. The front rooms could be noisy as Bath Street is busy during the day but I experienced the room as quiet at night.

Looking for a getaway far away but close enough to unwind, look no further.
From your book-in you are made to feel special, anniversary surprise for my wife surprised me.... Rooms were neat "pool side" ... Location location must beat the heat, on the small side but the set out of the room was great. Super was well put forward, likewise breakfast, great attention to detail .... A little fridge would be nice in the room.
The pool was great way to keep cool, that being said they are part of Avalon Springs so you have access to the hot springs at no extra cost.... Great escape with great reward

Our stay at the hotel was excellent. Staff is very friendly. Just one request, that each room should have its own small bar fridge. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Decoration of the rooms aare very beautiful.

Management went over and beyond to accommodate our special needs as a charity. We were very impressed with all the services. And the staff were very accommodating. The location of the hotel is central and parking off road and very safe. All together an excellent stay.
