Montagu Vines is situated in the historic conservation area of Montagu. The main farmhouse was built between 1900 and 1910 and reflects the early Victorian influenced Karoo style farmhouse of that period. The 6 Garden rooms and 2 courtyard rooms overlook the newly planted Olive Grove and compliment the stately main house. Following the damage to the vines from the floods of November 2008 the vineyard was removed in 2010 and replanted with an olive grove. We offer our guests a taste of old- fashioned comfort and luxury in the town of Montagu on the world famous "Route 62". You can relax in the splash pool set in the tranquil gardens with magnificent old oak and milkwood trees. Alternatively, you could lounge on the lawns enjoying the glorious views of the surrounding mountains whilst sipping a glass of local wine. Montagu Vines Guesthouse is just a stroll away from the centre of Montagu with its amenities that cater for all tastes and interests. There are restaurants, bistros, historic churches and tranquil gardens for the visitor to enjoy. Montagu Vines guesthouse is the perfect place for those intimate weekends, birthdays, and anniversaries or as a stopover whilst discovering "Route 62" and all it has to offer. You may be lucky and see the "resident" owls perched in the old oak tree or meet one of the big tortoises in the olive grove or surrounding areas that visit from the adjacent nature reserve.

Montagu Vines is definitely the finest place to stay. We spent two nights in one of the spacious and luxurious queen bedrooms overlooking the olive grove. The room was beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. The bathroom is large and the suite has a seating area, fridge, coffee and tea-making facilities, a fireplace and a private terrace to enjoy a glass of wine whilst admiring the gardens and setting sun. Our hosts, Anthony and Pam, were very friendly, experts in hospitality, knowledgable and attentive. They are passionate about Montagu and this is reflected in this magnificent guesthouse. They booked our dinner at 22 Church , which was a culinary delight. All of their touring suggestions were wonderful and memorable experiences. All staff are friendly and attentive.
The breakfasts were heavenly: fresh juice, scrumptious croissants, fresh coffee, fruit, cheese and charcuterie platter and a cooked breakfast with eggs of your choice. The hosts ensure you are well-looked after.
We will be back again soon as Montagu Vines is THE place to stay.

Spending 3 nights at Montagu Vines was exceptional. The attention to detail in every aspect of the rooms, the breakfast, the venue and the overall experience was beyond our expectations. Montagu Vines has really taken a guest house stay to another level, with the hosts Pam and Ant making us feel so welcome and going far beyond the normal to ensure our stay was absolutely perfect.

Our first stopover on our Route 62 tour and the bar was set impossibly high for all the other places we stayed in. The room was so tastefully furnished, the attention to every little detail evident and the views of the garden, dam, olive grove and mountains so stunning. A lovely touch was being offered a drink to enjoy in the late afternoon. Pam and Ant are the perfect hosts, genuine warm people who ensure that you have an enjoyable stay. We were impressed that the hosts support local businesses, the toiletries were produced locally. We walked to the local restaurant they had booked for us and we loved the fact that we were able to do this. It was a privilege to have been guests at this exceptional guest house

This was one of our favourite places to stay when touring this area. It has been lovingly improved and the attention to detail is noticeable. From early evening drinks in the garden to a very good breakfast we were very well looked after
Montagu itself is a pretty town reached through a very impressive pass. It’s not a place to stay for ever but 2 nights would be A1

What a fabulous guesthouse...but it is certainly much more than that . My husband and I with friends stayed here for 3 nights. It was very easy to find and the location was perfect with the most amazing views of the mountains and overlooking the olive groves, and just a five minute walk from one of the best restaurants I have been to in a long while. The accommodation itself was second to none..each room large and extremely comfortable with all the usual amenities plus some. It was like luxury accommodation but in someone’s actual home. It was the tiny little extras that counted...and here there were many. Breakfast was well presented, tasty and plentiful. A braii was also arranged for us for one of the evenings. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Most importantly though were the hosts Pam and Anthony - they were the most helpful and charming people I have met in a very long time in the hospitality business. They were always available to give advise and to share some very interesting stories on the area.. a lovely couple. To end my review I must not forget to mention that I have never, and I mean never stayed in a place where cleanliness was not far from godliness...everywhere was spotlessly clean and sanitized which is especially important in these times of covid . A visit to Montagu well deserves a stay at this lovely place.

Having received rave reviews from two different friends, we stopped over at Montagu Vines for two nights and certainly weren't disappointed. After a friendly welcome, we were shown to our bright and cheery room with a lovely view over the olive grove before enjoying a welcome glass of wine in the well kept garden. We then headed off to a local restaurant for dinner which Pam had kindly selected and booked for us ahead of our arrival, as she had also done for our second night. After a very pleasant breakfast on the patio, we headed off for the day to some local wine farms recommended by our hosts and armed with a map highlighting the special places of interest. That evening, we were once again fortunate to be directed to an excellent restaurant. The Guesthouse is well located for an easy walk to such locations but has a country feel about it because of the olive grove. In all a most pleasant stopover in a comfortable and well appointed room.

Pam and Antony are wonderful hosts, their guesthouse is lovely, with a beautiful garden and big oak trees. The rooms are quite new, beautiful designed, spotless clean, have a spacious bathroom and nice terrace overlooking the olive plantage and many flowers. Breakfast is homemade and tasty with fresh fruits and cooked to order egg menus.
Pam and Antony have the best tipps for hiking, lunch stops or nice dinner nights. We have been to 22church street, rambling rose, kokemans kitchen (best Burger) in Montagu and visited Van Loeveren winery (beautiful garden for light lunch). Nice hiking area!! Thx for a wonderful and relaxing stay! Even our car was washed!

We have stayed at Montagu Vines several times over the years. Pam and Ant have improved the property hugely. Breakfast on the raised patio with the birds feeding in the tree beside was delightful. Pam and Ant work very hard maintaining the property to a high standard, but we were impressed that they still made time to talk to their guests at length. We will be returning.

Although we only stayed for one night as we were travelling the garden route, we were made to feel extremely welcome. Our room was exceptionally well appointed and clean, little touches such as the lavender sprigs and afternoon aperitif were very well received. The owners Pam and Ant were charming and offered helpful advice in relation to restaurants in the area and helped with our onward route to Cape Town through the wine region.

Answer from Anthony T
We would be very happy for you to stay with us at Montagu Vines Guesthouse, however Sanbona does not allow for day visitors for their safaris. You would need to stay at Sanbona to enjoy their game drives.
