We spent the last week of a 25 Day trip to South Africa here, in apartment 4. The apartments are beautifully presented, well equipped and well maintained and have everything that one needs. It is also peaceful with virtually no road or neighbour noise. Although only two of us we prefer to rent a two bedroom, two bathroom property for the extra space and this did certainly not disappoint. Steps and long staircases are a fact of life with Fish Hoek rentals, but the way apartment 4 is laid out there are never more than four steps at a time so very manageable for those of us with slight mobility issues. Booking was simple through the Echo Terrace web site and Brian & Renee are simply outstanding hosts who perfectly balance living on site whilst respecting one’s privacy. We received the warmest welcome, including fresh croissants from a local artisan bakery and really appreciated their flexibility in managing a late check out on our departure day. The icing on the cake was the beautiful terrace and sea views from which it was hard to leave each day! Having our own garage was a real bonus and with electric entry gates we felt super safe. Much of their business, we were told, is made up from returning guests and we can fully understand why. We have no hesitation in recommending Echo Terrace. A truly great find offering great quality snd superb value for money

In 2012 we spent 5 days at Echo Terrace. This year we spent 10 days as we had enjoyed our previous visit so much. The apartment enjoys wonderful views over False Bay and we were lucky enough to have excellent whale watching from the apartment and the terrace. Brian and Renee are welcoming hosts and have ensured that the apartment is equipped to high standards, and the comfortable bed and roomy powerful shower are excellent.
The apartment is well positioned to visit the many attractions of the Cape.

Room Tip: We chose one of the two upper floor rooms with a terrace. The lower floor rooms have a plunge pool.

That photo of the whales within 20m of the shoreline below Echo Terrace is fantastic. You can literally sit in bed and watch them; these are special moments. Thank you for your thoroughly positive review and we so look forward to your next visit.

The apartments at Echo Terrace are spacious, clean and well stocked. They can easily be compared to top timeshare units around South Africa. The patios of the upstairs units (number 2 and 4 ) have wonderful views across the Bay towards Kalk Bay. The beds are very comfortable and there were extra blankets in the cupboard - can turn cold even in November. Being on a steep hill above Fish Hoek there are many stairs - between rooms, living area etc and so perhaps not ideal for elderly people or those with small children.

There is off street parking inside a garage which is tiny, so we were pleased we had a small Hyundai i10 which could fit in and turn around. If you are in and out a few times daily, this can be a nuisance as there is nowhere else to park. You cannot leave your car on the paving as it would prevent other guests from getting in and out.

We were a little disappointed as we were told the apartment would be serviced except on a Thursday. We were there for 7 nights and the first 3 days the tidy up was efficient. Then suddenly nothing happened. There was no communication to this effect until we asked, to be told the cleaner was sick. There was no plan B or apology and at these prices we felt this was a weakness.

The location is great for the Southern Peninsula - a few minutes from restaurants in Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay and Simonstown. Also for visiting Boulders Beach (penguins), Cape Point etc. It is a 40-50 minute drive from the airport but once there you feel like you are in a holiday place not a city. Everything you need is nearby including shops and small independent retailers. Bigger shopping centres are a bit further away.

Thank you for the positive review. We advise all our visitors that we service only on weekdays excluding Thursdays and do apologise that Monica was away sick on only one service day on Friday- this happens rarely. The garage size is not large but is sufficient for a large car (even a large Fortuner 4X4) but access needs to be negotiated carefully- however we do believe that the unique off street, in a garage behind a security gate parking for your vehicle is well worth the care taken in negotiating the drive in off the street. Hope to see you again soon!
