Whether you awake to extraordinary sunrises, eat delicious food, linger by the fireside, walk to the beach or relax in the Jacuzzi, Tranquility has it all... Oh, we forgot to mention superb breakfasts, fresh flowers, fine linen, free Wireless internet access and warm South African hospitality. Tranquility is situated just 40 km's south of Cape Town and nestles between two mountains and two oceans along the False Bay coast. Surrounded by beautiful beaches and nature reserves, Tranquility is centrally disposed to Cape Town's tourist attractions and the quaint villages of Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Simonstown, Scarborough, Kommetjie, Noordhoek and Hout Bay as well as the Constantia vineyards and Cape Point. This was our second visit to Tranquility guest house after a gap of five years. We were not disappointed. We received the same warm welcome with muffins and tea in the beautiful garden that we had enjoyed 5 years ago. Our room, the loft room, was clean and comfortable with magnificent views over the town and the ocean. The breakfasts were excellent with fruit, yogurt, muffins, toast and a full English as well as lots of friendly conversation. The first set of steps do present quite a challenge with a heavy suitcase but I am sure that I could have driven up to the accommodation had I needed to. We were given very helpful advice about places to visit and places to eat in the town and we will certainly be back again on our next visit to the area. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved our stay in this exquisite guest house. It has just the right balance between comfort and elegance with beautiful antique furniture, wooden floors and tasteful decor. The rooms were immaculate and every detail for our comfort was thought of. The hosts were extremely hospitable and went out of their way to make us feel at home and to make sure all our needs were met. The breakfasts were delicious! If you are looking for a truly special and comfortable place to stay then we would highly recommend this guest house.

Do not stay at this guesthouse if you do not want to be overwhelmed with kindness. Fantastic central position on the Cape Peninsular. 40 Minutes from Cape Town. 10 minutes from Kalk Bay in that direction. 10 minutes from Boulder Beach full of penguins on the way to Cape Point 40 minutes away in the other direction.. Fantastic bed. Gorgeous generous help. Breakfasts that set you up till teatime.

This was our second visit to Tranquility and we will definitely return. The room has amazing views over Fish Hoek and are so comfortable. The freshly baked scones and very delicious breakfast every morning are great! These are the two most friendly and helpful hosts ever.

In the last fifteen years, we have covered well over 350 000 kms in southern Africa and stayed at over 100 accomodation facilities. My motivation for the previous statement is not purile one upmanship but to lend credence to my enthusiasm as my review is based on experience gained during this time.

Tranquility is far and away the best place at which we have stayed. From the heartiest of welcomes we encountered by the Taskes family when we arrived, until the time had to bid them a reluctant farewell, we basked in the warmth of their hospitality and revelled in the comfort of their surroundings.

From a business perspective. Tranquility is close enough to Cape Town's CBD for a short ride by car, taxi or even train; yet it is far enough away from the oppressive hustle and bustle of the city to regain one's sense of calm serenity in the [you guessed it...] Tranquility of their mountainside property.

After our business matters were concluded, my wife and I availed ourselves of Ron and Gill's abundant knowledge of the area to visit local attractions, events and places of interest and enjoy a romantic break.

A word on the food - legendary. It's all you can do to restrain yourself from developing a shameful appetite. Every meal we enjoyed at Tranquility was prepared with direct involvement of the owners and compares favourably to many five-star establishments we've been to in the past.

It is clear that Tranquility Guest House is well led, has excellent management and dedicated staff. Standards of cleanliness are faultless and the owners will spare no effort to ensure a memorably enjoyable stay.

It just remains for us to find an enxcuse to return.

Lovely stay - beautiful views, yet quiet nights- NO traffic noise.
Service was good - excellent breakfast. Beautifully built up against the mountain. Our daughter enjoyed the Jacuzzi in the garden. All in all a very pleasant experience.

I am late in writing this but I have not forgotten our most magical stay with Ron & Gill. They are the kindest people on the planet. Nothing is too much trouble - even babysitting for our children whilst we had a night out! The rooms are wonderful and the view is amazing. BUT Jills breakfasts, you cannot beat!! I miss it and will go back to stay at Tranquility as I feel they are now part of our family!! Thank you Ron & Gill - keep well xx

Just want to add a few words to the many complements expressed in other reviews here. We had three nights in the Tranquility Guest House and it was a pity that we didn’t have more time. Jan and Bonny (and the dogs) go out of their way to make you feel at home. The rooms are everything that the pictures suggest and the views are breathtaking.
The guest house is well positioned for a day at Boulder Bay to see the penguins and also a trip down the coast to Cape Point (also highly recommended) however a car is pretty much a prerequisite.
Thank You Jan and Bonny - we’ll be back!

Thanks very much Peter and Chris for taking the time to write such a lovely review. When I saw the name of the reviewer my heart skipped a beat!. It was lovely having your whole family stay with us and we hope to be able to welcome you again some time. Concerning Jonathan's jumper, we think it might be best if Bonny takes it with her to the UK and post it from there. We are always concerned about the South African postal service as we have had some bad experiences in the past. She will arrive in London on the 20th of January and we hope that is in order. Kind Regards from all of us, Jan
