    A very comfortable, 'home from home,' independently run, full-service quality hotel, the only hotel in Porthmadog. It has been awarded 3* by the AA and Visit Wales, 2 AA Rosette for its food and included in the Good Food Guide, using the best of local Welsh suppliers. Children are welcome and particularly pets in our courtyard rooms. Ground Floor rooms also available for those with walking difficulties. Private covered parking, cycle lock up, drying room.

    We are delighted that you had such a lovely stay with us to celebrate your husband’s special birthday. We are always happy to make occasions that extra bit special if we are made aware of them and we hope he enjoyed his birthday cake. The courtyard rooms are perfect for anyone with mobility issues and, like you say, sitting out on your own patio area (in our family rooms only) in the summer months is rather special. Let’s hope you can enjoy this area when your visit us again in September.

    Just back from a weekend break at the Royal Sportsman. Very good (as per title) for location, staff, food, drink and cleanliness was excellent. Only slight negative was the tiny sink in the en suite with the shelf above it, made is almost unusable. Highly recommended....

    Thank you for highly recommending us. Our High Street location, with public transport links and many attractions right on our doorstep, is one of the reasons we have guests coming back time and time again. Just to let you know, we are making the most of the slightly quieter winter months to revamp all the bathrooms in our standard double rooms, which includes replacing the sinks so that they are more user friendly. We hope you are able to come back and see the changes.

    Thank you for your five star review and we are delighted you had a lovely weekend. We feel that it is important to keep some of the historical charm of this 19th century Coaching House but to also ensure that the rooms are comfortable and clean, the bar has character and our meals are superb.     Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are delighted that you had such an enjoyable stay and enjoyed all that the hotel and the area has to offer. We are indeed very convenient for guests arriving by public transport and those who want to enjoy the historic railways. We are rather famous for our breakfasts with a beautiful spread, including our infamous homemade marmalade, for those having continental only and all our cooked breakfasts are made to order so are fresh and piping hot. And we will always prepare a takeaway breakfast for those leaving before breakfast service begins. Thank you for appreciating that we are a traditional coaching house from the 19th century with many period features, including the open fires and flooring in the restaurant. Décor is so subjective, and we are delighted that it appealed to you both. The staff will always do what we can to ensure that every guest has a comfortable, enjoyable and memorable stay and we look forward to welcoming you back when you are next in Snowdonia.
