Perfect spot for swimming, kitesurfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, beach bikes or just for relaxation. Unique place with strong energy and breathtaking views on Indian Ocean. With the new renovation of the hotel we have added 6 extra rooms, a swimming pool, water sports center and the Hello Capitano caffe all the way from Indonesia.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We loved Ananda ! Once you enter this hotel you feel like you are in paradise . Small , cozy, amazing place ... lovely staff - always smiling and polite h, everything clean and well maintained , tasty breakfast , and the most beautiful beach!

Stayed in Ananda for a whole September, I believe we couldn't get a better place in Paje (for sure not in this price range). We got our bungalow basically at the beach, we got our own bathroom, and could use a shared kitchen. Before my trip I was concerned about aircon, at the place it seems like you don't really need one (room fan is enough). There is little fridge and safe at bungalow. You need to consider that sometimes can happen you won't have hot water and local wifi won't be really high speed ( however you can buy an internet card close by - I was able to watch youtube on local sim). It may sound bad, but you need to consider this is Africa so power outages are normal and internet coverage is pretty poor. We was very happy about our month stay at Ananda. The only thing what could be better is getting proper hard bed matress. The contact to the crew is very easy and there is good atmosphere. Overall I believe there are no other options in this price range. I would definitely be back someday.

With one of the best locations, situated in Paje, Zanzibar, Ananda Beach House is straight on the beach. Close to many restaurants, facilities and walking distance to Paje Village.
Owner is very communicative and ready to help. Staff is nice and polite and they will do everything to make your stay enjoyable.
View to the Ocean is amazing and the beach with white sand, tide and low tide is a real show of nature.
I've been there twice and I can say that under new management things are improving allot. Almost all bungalows and rooms have air conditioner, new mattress that makes beds comfortable. The property have new restaurant with breakfast/ dinning area on the beach and outside beautiful decoration lighting.
All rooms and bungalows have their private bathrooms, safe and WIFI.
There is real Paradise for Kite surfers and property is having Kite school with options to rent kites, bikes and electric bikes.
Of course that like everywhere there may be some things that some people may not like, but think that property is under high development and more good things will come!

I booked a bungalow hoping for a nice relaxing time at a beautiful beach. The beach was beautiful, but this is very low end hostel that felt very unsafe and is very different than the pictures make you think. The bungalow was spacious but filled with mosquitos and the mosquito net over the bed had holes. The door didn’t close properly- a 3cm gap exists even when the door is “locked”- allowing bugs to come in and vulnerable to break ins. The wifi in the bungalow was practically nonexistent and the power went out while we were there even though the restaurants right next to us had power. There is no AC and the fan barely worked so it was very hot at night. There were drunk girls passed out on the lounge chairs with men hovering over them. A total nightmare. Also, there is no alcohol allowed on the property. It wasn’t that big of a deal for us but I think if you have restrictions like that, it should be prominently stated prior to booking (which it was not). Do not recommend to anyone, even if you’re just going to party.

I stayed in ananda hotel for 10 days with a friend of mine and I loved it so much easy access to village, paje down town and all there places also it’s a Beach front hotel that’s what I liked the most The service was excellent, the rooms with a nice decoration and were always clean. Amazing staff prompt and helpful when needed, there is a swimming pool The breakfast buffet (included in the room price) offers a variety of food and drinks at hello capitano Zanzibar Resturant which is open all the day serving you with a delicious food, cakes, drinks, smoothies barista etc.. Ananda hotel has kite n surf school, beach bikes for rental, kayak (normal & transparent one) and paddle board I highly recommend this hotel for friends, couples and families as well

Ananda beach hotel is the perfect spot for you if you are a solo traveler and you need a comfortable solution in a good location to crash at night and move around during the day. The structure is right on the beach with a nice swimming pool. The food at the restaurant is very fresh, simple and well cooked and prepared, nothing to envy to the most overrated and overpriced places in Paje. The owners are very friendly and fully dedicated to improve the hotel services. The local staff is amazing and well trained. No issues to take guests inside. Highly recommended.

I can say every year is getting better and better fully renovated and also the hotel has a great cafe restaurant by beach hellocapitanozanIbar healthy menu - seafood - Mediterranean- falafel just wow.
We were lucky booking the 2 beds room apartment just above the water it was extraordinary also we had a great experience at their kitesurfing center kiteNsurf.

On arrival the hotel looks lovely… once settled, the bedsheets are rough like sandpaper, the bed as hard as rock & the noise from outside is unbearable at night. Especially when the outdoor cleaners come and rake your doormat for 5 minutes straight at 5:30am EVERY MORNING, and then when the cleaner comes with the hose and hoses down all your shoes you’ve left on the door step, leaving everything wet through outside your door, again at silly o clock in the morning.
And then don’t forget the mites / bugs INSIDE the bathroom door scratching and eating its way out of the door ALL night which is loud.
Let’s not leave out the restaurant, offering simple dishes etc wraps, burgers & chips - very boring & bland food. And for breakfast you’re allowed to order 1 egg and 1 coffee each alongside the buffet, but no staff will to approach anyone to order eggs.
It’s advertising as a lovely luxury hotel, when in reality it’s nothing like that. Would not recommended. However it’s located great on the beach.

Regarding the bedding and room comfort, we’re surprised by your comments, as our accommodations are frequently praised for their quality. If you had informed us of any discomfort during your stay, we would have gladly addressed it immediately. As for the food, we offer a variety of options that cater to different tastes. Location: heart of Paje, close to all restaurants and bars. Right on the beach with comfortable sun beds and a terrace where you are enjoying an outstanding view. Security: perfect! Once I forgot my purse on the terrace and in 1h, found it waiting for me at the reception. The territory of the hotel is secure. Fence on the beach makes it even better, so beach boys won’t bother you. Ambiance: chill Zanzibar vibe with friendly and helpful staff. Really quiet place; I was sleeping like a baby all stay. They have a kitesurfing school inside the hotel. At the end of my stay was up and riding, though I’m a beginner. You can ask for a discount as a hotel guest. Rooms: cozy, air-conditioned with clean and good bedsheets. You will find everything you need in the room, including a hairdryer and safe. Restaurant: the best food in Paje as in my opinion with the fair prices and big portions.

Review: Ananda Beach Hotel was a hit for our family! Staff were friendly and accommodating, and the food was superb. While there weren't specific activities for kids, the beach and pool kept them entertained. Family-friendly vibe all around. They nailed it with their room service and cleaning! Every day felt like coming back to a fresh oasis, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. They even prepared the room for a perfect night's sleep. Couldn't ask for better hospitality! 🛏️✨👌
