We had a fantastic holiday at Zanzibella hotel & spa. The hotel opened the day we arrived so everything was all new. We stayed in room C1 and D1 with interconnecting doors from the balconies. The kids had their own room which was great! The room have beautiful wiev over the pool, restaurant and the OCEAN!! The staff was very friendly and serviceminded and the food was great! They bake their own bread so you get freshly baked croissants every morning. Also we loved all the fresh fruit, mango, pineapple, watermelon etc.

We can also recommend to go for snorkeling/scuba diving at Mmemba Atoll. Beautiful reef, fishes and we saw dolphins. Also the daytour to Stonetown, Prison Island and Spice farm was great and interesting!

The rooms at Zanzibella are large, comfortable and stylish, each with a large bathroom with separate WC and a private balcony. The restaurant is pretty good and there are entertainments during dinner. There is a nice pool and a private beach area with sun-beds. The staff are very attentive and I felt there was a tendency to ‘sell’ ie always offering drinks etc
I felt that the pool area was a little cramped, not a lot of space for the sun-beds and all rather close together. Overall pretty good value.

Dear Sommerstar, thank you for taking the time to leave a good review! We are happy that you loved the rooms and our facilities. Our staff is doing its best every day to make you feel welcome and help you wherever they can. We have enough sun beds for all of our guests either at the pool or at the beach, but the last days the low tide was during the day so most of the guests went to the pool which made it be more busy. Kind regards, Zanzibella team

I loved this hotel is very nice, modern, brand new, I’ve been the first time they open for dinner and drinks also we had been invited by the owner for the opening and everything was superb
We came back this year in October with my hubby and we stayed in one of the buildings near the pool second floor with the best by sea and pool view! The rooms was always neat and bathroom as well!
I recommend and I’ll be cow again anytime soon!

For a 5 stars facilities there is a lot that still need to be upgraded.
Before arrive at Zanzibella we have been on another 5 star at Nungwi, and the differences are huge.
The breakfast is very poor with few options. For a 5 stars hotel, only having powder coffee and make you pay 3$ for a capuccino is unacceptable! Another negative thing is having a lot of flies landing on your food, ok we know that we are in Africa but again we are talking about a 5 stars hotel, there’s a lot of ways to keep the flies away from the place where you eat.
The menu doesn’t have many options, after 3/4 meals you get tired to choose always the same.
The pool didn’t look always clean. The playlist by the pool was always the same. Same 5 or 6 songs, all day and everyday, sometimes loud and annoying. We were trying to have some rest and enjoy the peaceful of the nature but was not possible .
The rooms are very big, and new, really good decorated but the mattress, at least ours, was very bad and softy, I can believe that there are camping mattress way better than that one in our room.
The “spa” isn’t really a spa. Just two massage tables, and the prices are not very acceptable according to the accommodations. Although the staff that received us were very professional, kind and polite.

Thank you for your review. We have now a big coffee machine so guests can order this as well. The music is for our guests and they can always come to the front desk and ask to turn the music up/down or to change the song. We have different playlists so we are surprised to hear that you only heard 5-6 songs. We focus on fresh meals and having our own farm, garden and small menu proves that. That way we can guarantee that the meals being served are fresh. We are sorry to hear that your matres wasn't comfortable for you but we think it's personal opinion as some people like them more soft and some more hard. We hope that overall you enjoyed your stay. All best, Zanzibella Hotel & SPA

Zero service, terrible management. Security and employees harass and physically abuse clients. I’m not kidding, Do not go there especially if you are family. Management is rude and they care about is getting their money with zero service.

We were a big group of moms and kids and when we were checking out we realized that a bill that had a total of $35 was added to our room. However we kept arguing that the signature wasn’t ours and that they had mixed up the bill with someone else’s. (Note: we had already paid the hotel more than 12k$ For rooms and food, we were 37 people). Anyway I paid 20$ and told them to remove the remaining 15$ Since we didn’t order anything on the bill. As we were at the hotel entrance/gate putting our things/luggage on the bus to head to the airport, hotel security closed the gate and pushed us away, telling us that we owe the hotel money and that we are not allowed to leave. We kept telling them that our kids are outside alone and we need to go get them, but they refused to open the door for us and pushed me away (my son is 4). I went straight to management screaming and crying and all they said was “we are sorry you can leave now”. We are traumatized.

The best hotel in the island.
Rooms are spacious and the decor is lovely. Food is insanely delicious, lots of choice in the menu (best lobster I ever had!), staff is super friendly, polite and they work extra hard to ensure you get what you ask for. Entertainment at the hotel is incredible, you really feel the Zanzibar vibe. Everyone dances, laughs, and have fun together!
The hotel offers lots of activities and water sports.
Massage spot and outdoor pool is overlooking the ocean, private beach with swings and hammocks, shade area...
I highly recommend this hotel, I had the best experience and I will definitely be back in there.

I had an amazing stay in zanzibella. Probably one of the best in zanzibar especially if you want a calm and relaxing place. Perfect for solo, couples, or families. They also have amazing staff! I'd like to mention specifically the restaurant servers including the trainees as well as the housekeepers and the maasai employees. One name that got stuck in my mind is Claudy who's hospitality is exception. Also Abdullah who's a trainee was very friendly. Samuel, a maasai guy was very helpful and friendly. Im very bad at names but there's one short lady at the restaurant that never fails to smile. On top of these, Martha the managing director was really friendly and a great singer.

Room is big and cleaned everyday. Housekeepers also make sure that its free of mosquitos.

Pool is exceptionally clean so as the beach. So if you dont want to do any activity on a day, you can relax and just swim within the resort.

Restaurant serves amazing food and they always have catch of the day that is really fresh from the sea.

Also if you stay here, you should not miss the massage. The therapist was very professional.

All in all, a perfect package for vacation.

This is a newly opened hotel, resort and spa right on the beach on the east coast of Zanzibar . Beautiful setting particularly the beach when high tide . Sea sports available nearby. Spacious rooms and very friendly and helpful staff. We went for dinner on a Sunday evening and we ordered ala carte. Food was nicely presented and reasonably priced. Even the drinks were reasonably priced. There was a local band playing which was amazing. The hotel was full and so was the restaurant. I would definitely this property to anyone seeking serenity, nice beach.
Chaima the front desk manager was very very helpful and so was Pendo our waitress .
We ll definitely return soon.
