This hotel is just a secret gem. I normally do not write hotel reviews, but we had such an amazing time here, that we have to pay some tribute. The hotel is quite small (6+ rooms), with a perfectly sized pool, restaurant and access to the beach (which gets cleaned everyday). Due to the size of the hotel, it gets a unique cozy touch. We loved everything from the food, the pool, rooms, extremely friendly and attentive staff. Rooms are spacious with a nice balcony and modern/stylish interior.
The owner does everything to make you feel like home. There is absolutely nothing negative to say abt this hotel. I will come back!

this is one of the best hotels for couples in zanzibar! quiet & intimate with only 6 rooms, all facing ocean with an infinity pool. a restaurant has a good verayety of food to choose from
the rooms are big and have everything you need. we hoped to find such a hotel with a quiet and calming atmosphere just to relax and enjoy ourselves. to achieve this, we have been assisted by the hotel staff. firstly, Erika, the owner, the receptionist: Innocent ( hallelujah ),bar staff: Albert,Eddy and especially Maulid that treated us like a royalty, a housekeeping : Aisha and Flora . THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH for making our stay unforgettable.

We stayed at Imara for a week. I can't fault it in any aspect: the room lived up to expectations - quite literally on the beach as you walk out, save for climbing down a ladder - which may be tricky at the best of times but more on that below.

In terms of service, we were made to feel welcome: a special thanks to Innocent helming the front desk who looked after our every need. The restaurant is also excellent (lobster linguini is a must try.) They mix a mean cocktail, so a big thanks to Mario, Eddy, and Albert for supplying the Dutch courage for my wedding day ;)

Highly recommend.

On October 15, 2021 I fly to Zanzibar for a 10-day vacation. After 3 days Stone Town and 2 days Nungwi I continued to Kiwenga. In Kiwenga I spent 2 nights and 2 days at Imara Beach Resort. The one and only thing i can say about this small and nice hotel is; AWESOME! that's it! Erica the owner she’s great and the staff is also great! Breakfast was super and the hotel was very clean..

I have tried to get a quote from them only to be redirected to a watsapp chat and then back to Instagram again and back to watsapp again. The attitude of the person who I spoke to was appalling to say the least. ZERO HOSPITALITY. And I am well travelled, so I know. When you try to ask for what you need you are told off basically in “inverted commas” (you know what I’m talking about IMARA) well done IMARA for losing a very good potential customer that could bring about much business for you. Pity you have someone that doesn’t know customer service as your first point of call. And please don’t write back and say you gave me the info required. Your customer care is non existent. Please use that as constructive criticism in future.

We actually didn't stay at Imara, but in a villa next door. I wish we did though! We came here every day for breakfast and/ or lunches or just for a sip of coffee. Obviously, the restaurant is beautiful, it is situated just on the beach, the infinity pool is all about blurring the lines between the man-made and the natural - it has an outstanding view of one of the world’s most photogenic swimming spots. The beach views, calm ocean and ability to watch the sunset on our patio were highlights of the trip! The hotel restaurant was exceptional, not only because every meal we enjoyed had a variety of options and was flavorful but also because the prices were so reasonable for an oceanfront resort! The menu is perfect, something for everyone. But to make it really special, the right level of service has to be also provided and here the restaurant doesn't disappoint. The service was awesome - our waiter, Eddy, was just wonderful- every time we visit. He had just the right balance of friendliness and efficiency. He recognized that we wanted time to visit and did not rush us. He and other staff members made certain that we had everything we needed. Kudos! Will be back definitely and next time we will also stay at this place! (also posted this on Google:)

We arranged a transfer from the airport in advance, which was on time and worked absolutely smoothly. When we arrived at the hotel at 10:30, our room was understandably not ready, but the reception was warm and uncomplicated. Although regular check-in was not until 3:00 p.m., our room was ready for us at 1:00 p.m. Overall, the hotel is located on a beautiful beach with a wonderful pool, has great service and good food...but at European prices. In retrospect, the view and the ambience are unique. We found it unpleasant that guests who only came to eat could also use the pool. In our case, a family of 10 with children came, who took up not only the restaurant but also the pool for hours. We booked this hotel specifically because it only has 6 rooms. We were not aware that external restaurant guests could also be there for hours. We booked months before arrival and I wrote immediately after booking that I would like a ground-floor room. Unfortunately, this wish was not fulfilled and we got a great room with a wonderful view on the first floor. The rooms on the ground floor have loungers directly in front of the terrace next to the pool and on the beach. The rooms on the 1st floor have the option of using loungers by the pool. In our case, however, guests on the lower floor, who would have had their own loungers, also occupied the loungers by the pool and so we didn't have any - tip for the hotel: guests on the lower floor have loungers anyway, so please reserve the loungers by the pool for the guests on the 1st floor!
Our daughter was given any food from the kitchen on special request, and breakfast in the pool was an absolute highlight.
All in all, we can only warmly recommend the Imara, any compromises are at our own discretion;)
