I arrived at your hotel on November 20, 2023 for a stay of 9 nights, therefore a departure on November 29, 2023. On the 24th I came to the reception because my mother had been hospitalized in serious condition in France. I told the front desk that I needed to return to France but wasn't sure if my husband and I could get space on the Saturday, November 25 flight. I asked them if I could check out but have the possibility of taking back my room given that it was paid until November 29 if we were unable to board the plane given that the flight was full. At reception, I was asked to send an email to customerservice.jambo@riu.com and reception.jambo@riu.com That's what I did. My mother died during the day of Friday November 24, 2023 and I have not received any feedback from you. I therefore made the decision to leave the hotel with my husband on Saturday November 25 at 12:45 p.m. without checking out so as not to find ourselves on the street if we were unable to board the Saturday flight. We left the 2 cards for the beach towels and a card (key) to the room. We kept the second key and put the do not disturb sign on the door so that the cleaning lady would not realize while cleaning that we had left and alert the reception We had to leave like thieves even though we had paid for the room until November 29, even though I had sent you an email asking for help, asking you to facilitate my departure. I did not ask you for a refund in my email, I just wanted your help to facilitate my departure. I was in pain and hurt and I just wanted you to help me. But you showed a great lack of compassion, a lack of empathy by not even deigning to respond to my email. Fortunately I was able to board with the help of the Air France captain and the airport staff. Even a baggage porter expressed more compassion than you. He was present with us from our arrival at the airport at 3 p.m. until boarding at 10 p.m. Fortunately I was able to count on other people during this ordeal. I am totally disappointed by your behavior which is disgusting, until today Monday November 27, I have still not received a response from you. Although the staff (waiters, entertainers, cleaning ladies) are kind and smiling, I will not return to your hotel because when we encounter a problem and call on you, you are absent.

Hotel's Favourite
Having been in the hotel / hospitality industry for the past 40 years, and having just returned from an amazing holiday at the RIU Jambo, all I can say is WOW!!!..This newly opened hotel is a real “gem” and is ably led and managed by Carlos and his support team in Chris and Alberto. No hotel can operate without committed management and staff, and this is one “committed team”!!..All the staff are extremely friendly and it is obvious that they want to provide the best service and product experience possible with endless smiles and a genuine interest to assist. Opening a new hotel of this magnitude is a huge undertaking in itself, but the management and staff have risen to the challenge and should be proud of there achievement to date. The facilities are ample and obviously new. The rooms are modern and clean, and certainly provide adequate space with all the necessary amenities for a product of this standard. Comments have been made regarding food variety and in my opinion are unfounded, as the food quality standard is that expected of any discerning diner. There are a selection of various restaurants, which are situated in the main complex and in a unique building built off the shore line in the sea. The quality of the service/ food offering in all the dining outlets are world class (it is suggested you book these dining options on the hotel app when checking in, so as to avoid not getting a booking - space is limited) I would be amiss if I did not mention a few staff who went “above and beyond” in terms of attentiveness, friendliness and service levels. We can’t thank Rose, Richard, Francina, Sarafina and Celion enough for just making our stay that much more enjoyable. We would like to thank Carlos and his team for there kind hospitality and all the very best. We have no doubt that RIU Jambo will continue to go from strength to strength…Good luck and looking forward to a future visit - Asante’..🙏

So last year we were lucky to honeymoon in Mauritius. Whilst there we were told by others to come to Zanzibar. What I will say is Zanzibar and Riu Jambo is better than what we experienced in Mauritius. (and less expensive). We booked the package on the Tui website. (about £4k for 10 nights) We flew from Edinburgh to Doha and then on to Zanzibar. The flights were with Qatar airlines. If you are no sure about the visa situation don’t worry. We were given the forms to fill in on the flight and just applied for visa on arrival. It is $50 for those travelling from the UK. It is all very simple although it is a bit hectic when you land at the airport. The transfer from airport to hotel was probably 90mins but I think this is dependent on traffic, weather and road conditions. We arrived at the hotel about 10am. check in was fine and straight forward. We didn’t get the room until about 2pm but it was fine as we just used the pool and restaurant facilities until our room was ready. Download the Riu app for your phone and eveything can be booked or arranged using it. e.g mini bar, restaurant bookings and activities. All the pools are open. They are all maintained to a high standard and there is always plenty of space around the pool. Entertainment around the pool is good during the day. You can do as much or as little as you like. I can’t comment on the evening entertainment as we just sit on the balcony after dinner. Food is great. The main buffet restaurant is good and had enough variety for us to comfortably eat a variety of food for 10 nights. The other theme restaurants are a nice change. The drinks are fine as well. Beer is from the bottle poured into a glass and the local spirits are fine. The staff are all very friendly and work tirelessly. The beach is beautiful. There are lots of sellers etc but they don’t approach the sun beds. We booked an excursion with Bruno on the beach. We paid $80 for a day trip to see the turtles, spice farm and Stonetown. Overall we’ve had a great holiday and I would recommend the Riu Jambo and Zanzibar for a holiday.

This hotel is absolutely fantastic. ALL staff are amazing they always say hi and ask how you are. Wether you are at the buffet or restaurants the staff cannot do enough for you. The Traditional restaurant is absolutely amazing definitely a night to remember having dinner over the water and the food is 10/10. The hotel is well taken care of the rooms are spacious and clean and the mini bar is always refilled. Will absolutely be returned to RIU Jambo we loved it and are sad to be home.

The only serious problem was when we got stuck with one of your stuffs in elevator near the reception we had to get out the next floor so we can walk to the other elevators, i think something needs to be done on the elevators, also in room we saw some small insects which is very minor, just a small fumigation is required, also an iron and its table needs ti be placed in each room

If you would like to receive horrendous service and total disrespect from the staff then this is the hotel for you. I experienced completely scary and horrible experience by the General Manager, Carlos santos who was screaming at me aggressively and threateningly saying I do not have enough money to get respect or service from the hotel, after I asked about paying for a late checkout as I have a 1 year old baby. I have never in all my life received such aggressive and arrogant behaviour towards me from any hotel in the world, let alone from a high ranking individual such as the general manager. He also made comments about the country I’m from (South Africa) and he screamed aggressively with his head security also screaming at me the he will refuse to assist me with a late paid checkout. The hotel is in an amazing location and the general staff are very friendly. But the lack of care, and lack of any helpfulness and lack of professionalism as well as lack of common courtesy and empathy by front desk staff and management is quite disconcerting. Rest assured this violent threatening behaviour was the final straw for me and I will never visit another Riu Hotel again and I will make it my mission to tell as many people back home in South Africa about the attitude of reception staff and general manager. I’m quite traumatised at being treated this way. Absolutely shocking

We have just enjoyed the best holiday in 30 years at the Riu Jambo. We studied all the reviews and the hotel exceeded our expectations! We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and travelled as a couple. We have travelled All Inclusive to many locations including the Dominican Republic many times as well as Cape Verde, Mexico, Turkey and cruised. This holiday outshone them all! Firstly the Hotel is only 2 years old, contemporary with a gleaming white exterior, centre garden courtyard, s well as stunning garden throughout, walkways on every level, simple but modern rooms with an African theme, steel and glass balcony, double sink with soap bar and large shower with shower gel. You can ask your lovely housekeeper for extra toiletries if you need them. The air conditioning works brilliantly, clean towels daily, clean bedlinen regularly - I am sure our bedlinen was ironed on the bed daily... The bar was stocked with soft drinks and water -but you can use the app to request a top up or use the app! Top tip - download the app before you arrive, so its ready for you to add your room number and you can start booking your restaurants! I would book late at night after enjoying the show, live nightly DJ and a dance under the stars! There is a weekly white party - so don't forget to pack your white party clothes, also African night so bring your animal prints - oh and a weekly beach party with an amazing DJ and sound system!! So food - the main Maisha restaurant was wonderful, you can eat on the balcony and enjoy the glorious Seaview or in the large air conditioned restaurant. The choice was amazing with fresh cooking stations for pasta, soup, fish, sizzling meat, and a roast joint daily as well a huge salad section, Asian cuisine ( aubergine masala unbelievable), lentils, dauphinoise potatoes, exotic rice dishes as well as hot dogs, pizzas and chips... But for us it was a total joy to eat at either restaurant on the pier - champagne in hand watching the sunset. The food was delicious especially as it was table service. The staff are joyful, helpful and so appreciative of our custom! They are so thrilled that we have chosen to visit Zanzibar! The bar staff are gorgeous - they remember your drinks, are extremely generous with them too! They have Gordins, Baileys, Aperol behind the bar just to name a few along with great Chilean wines. There are crows that like to visit the beach bar but that's fine, just shoo them away. We had no problems with mosquitos, just a few gnat bites after sunset on the beach. We never visited the pools as the beach was too glorious to leave... The beach vendors are entertaining, just be nice and say no thank if you are not interested. Its wonderful that they are not allowed above the tide line so won't bother your sunbathing. Loved the gymnastic displays - so bring plenty of 1 dollar bills for tips and buying the beautiful wraps on the beach ( same ones are being sold in the hotel shop for 4 x the price!). Ok you are probably getting bored now - but you get the point. PLEASE do visit this beautiful island and hotel you won't regret it! Visit Stone town too and maybe you will be treated to a beautiful Tanzanite ring as I was by my gorgeous husband!! A quick thank you to Susan, Salem, Faustina, Winfreda, Francis, Hajara and so many more beautiful staff including all the cleaners who worked tirelessly keeping everywhere immaculate!
