This place is ideal to reconnect with nature and to disconnect from the world. It is simply heaven on earth. The rooms are perfectly integrated into the environment, luxurious in a humble way... almost treehouses with all the commodities. We loved the outdoor shower in...More
Our family of 4 (2 boys 7 & 8 years old) stayed in Ant's Nest the beginning of April for 3 nights. The reception we got upon arrival was an indication of the amazing hospitality that we were going to experience for our entire stay...More
Our Stay at Ant’s Nest was definitely the Highlight of our three weeks vacation to South Africa. The opportunities to find such a sincere and personal atmosphere are rare these days; and the chances to have such unique experiences are as well.

Ant's Nest would be a better option of the two (because of the drop-offs reference above) but the pool does not have a fence around it. I found the staff to be very family friendly - we had a 3 and an 8 year old with us. They are very flexible with regard to kids meals, etc. There are outdoor toys to amuse kids with, but you will need to keep an eye on a two year old because of the pool.

I would also say that some places recommendations on tips are quite high, others less so. Ants is on the high side, but that said we tipped on the high side here as they are so lovely. However, I wouldn't go too high on the daily recommendation if you are staying for two weeks,it will prove to be very expensive.
