I'm a hardened traveller, 34 yr old and have seen a lot of places. Leaving Ants Hill in that taxi i actually started to cry. This place is the most amazing place i have ever been. Not only is the location very special, the lodge a wonderful, stylish and comfortable place to be but the staff do truely become friends...

Having visited Ants Hill and Ants Lodge for the first time in 2006, we were keen to break our golden rule of holidays (to never return to the same place!), and this trip coincided with my wife’s 40th birthday, our 9th wedding anniversary and the British Lions rugby tour to South Africa. Although some of the staff had changed since...

Agree totally with other reviewers that the 3 hour journey by road from Johannesburg to the Lodge is tedious, uninspiring and long. The way back is so depressing! The cost of the flight per person from Johannesburg to the Lodge really is not much more expensive than the cost of the car available from the Lodge's agent. Save time, fly!...

We took our two young children (aged 6 and 10) to Ant's Hill for a four night stay. It takes quite a while to get there from Jo'burg airport (and the first half of the journey is pretty dull as you travel along the Great North Road - equivalent to a British motorway but with far fewer vehicles) so, if...

I have just returned from spending four days at Ants Hill with my 13 year old daughter and I have to say it was one of the best places I have ever been to. I travel a lot for work, staying in 5* hotels, yet I have never received such brilliant service as I did from Ryan and his team....

This was our fourth visit to Ant's Nest in two years. It really is heaven on earth: a truly African experience, away from it all, but perfectly geared to any combination of ages and interests. With three children ranging from 12 to 4, finding a good safari lodge is pretty tricky. Ant's Nest fits the bill in all respects: game...

What's not to love about Ants Nest. This place more than exceeded our expectations. We're not skilled riders, but the horses are so fabulous, that any can have a go (even one of the 4-yr old kids that was there at the time), and we were cantering by day 2. It's incredible to get so close to zebra, giraffe, rhino...

We weren't riders before we went but the whole family enjoyed our 3 day stay. It really is a relaxing place to stay and the riding safari's really are heaven. There are so many nice touches at this place - from all the dogs, to tea being delivered to our cottage first thing in the morning. We also had the...

I've just returned from an unforgettable family holiday in South Africa, with a 4 nights stay at Ant’s Nest. I was there with my entire family – with 5 kids from 5 till 12 years old. We all loved it so much, that in the end the general feeling was: can we stay here forever? Since we’ve returned my kids...

My family and I have just returned from our visit to beautiful South Africa. We started our visit on the 16th of June at Ant’s Hill: wow! What a wonderful place. The cottage, the scenery, everything was even better than they appeared to be on their website. The reserve is a 3 hour car trip from Johannesburg, but the driver...
