It was amazing!!! The lodge was perfect and all the people were very very nice! I was travelling alone, but I never felt alone: they created a great group with all the guides and the other guests; after one week we felt like we had...More
Ant’s Nest is that rare place that combines old world hospitality with great fun activities and a great place to relax. As a family of non-riders, we came away amazed at how much we enjoyed the riding and loved the bespoke way the staff create...More
Ants Hill is unique amongst the many safari lodges in Eastern and Southern Africa I have stayed at. We rode, walked and drove through a beautiful landscape and saw rhino, giraffe, zebra, antelope and many more. Ants Hill is about horses and riding is the...More

Ant's Nest would be a better option of the two (because of the drop-offs reference above) but the pool does not have a fence around it. I found the staff to be very family friendly - we had a 3 and an 8 year old with us. They are very flexible with regard to kids meals, etc. There are outdoor toys to amuse kids with, but you will need to keep an eye on a two year old because of the pool.

I would also say that some places recommendations on tips are quite high, others less so. Ants is on the high side, but that said we tipped on the high side here as they are so lovely. However, I wouldn't go too high on the daily recommendation if you are staying for two weeks,it will prove to be very expensive.
