This is highly recommended if you need a break from the city and want to enjoy nature. We enjoyed making fire in the boma and just experiencing the peace and tranquility - after the rain, we were treated with the sound of the river running close to our chalet. The chalet is well-equipped and very clean and the hosts helpful and friendly. This place has a beautiful setting between the mountains.

Nice quiet setting, great hosts, nicely appointed cottages and positioned to maximize privacy. We chose a very windy weekend at the end of winter, so the dust was a bit unpleasant. The farm is tucked up a a lovely valley and the walking potential and bird watching is pretty special. The groomed paths are limited, so you need decent shoes/boots and some experience if you wish to venture onto the ridges to enjoy the full potential of the property. The farm Eskom power is backed up by solar and generator so you are unlikely to endure power outages, which happened to afflict all of the surrounding areas while we were there. We had a great break.

If you need to get away from the crowd, unwind, relax and get rest for your sole, then Shondoro is the place. What a perfect place to spend a week-end away in nature. The place is clean and very neat with all the necessary utensils, hot water, electricity (fully off-grid) and animals that visit the sites. The owners are excellent guests who assist from booking till departure and they do not invade your space. Thank you, Nicole and James, we will be visiting again.

We really enjoyed our stay at one of the most beautiful bushveld farms we have ever visited. The owners are very friendly and helpful and the scenery and location between the mountains are simply stunning! Will definitely return again.

Such a lovely little slice of heaven tucked away in the mountains. The cottage is beautiful and just rustic enough to remind you that you are in the bush and away from the rat race. The bush is amazing- the boys spent hours playing in the streams. The two squirrel visitors the one night was a treat. The peace and quiet is chicken soup for the soul. Will be back again 🙂

What an awesome place! Squeaky clean chalet, equipped with new beds, aircon, 2-plate mini oven and reliable wi-fi. The swimming pool comes in very handy during those typical hot Bushveld days. Got to see a variety of wildlife whilst on our mountain bike ride. We will be back! Thanx Nicole and Family. You guys rock! Till we meet again....Roland & Karien

Shondoro is a lovely farm to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Not to far from the cities of Jhb and Pretoria, it's the perfect place to go to for a weekend. The accommodation is topnotch - beautiful rooms, and bathrooms and well equipped kitchen. The boma outside is perfect for braaing and watching bush television (fire). Nicole, James and their three sons are the perfect hosts - very helpful and accommodating. Being from the USA, and only for a year in South Africa, they give you a pleasant positive outlook on South Africa. We enjoyed the walks in the veld and a refreshing swim afterwards. The airconditioners in the bungalows are a big plus. We really enjoyed our 3 nights, 4 days on the farm, and would highly recommend Shondoro Mountain Retreat.
