My wife and I live in Myanmar and we decided to visit Ngapali Beach over Thadingyut ("Lighting Festival"). We have been to Ngapali several times and this time decided to stay at the Ngapali Bay Villas & Spa and it turned out to be the perfect choice for a relaxing break: best location on the beach, a spacious and well-furnished villas with great interiors, including exceptional bath rooms and our own little pool. In fact, we particularly enjoyed the attention to detail of the interior design in our villa and the dining area. Location matters and the hotel has one of the best, if not the best location on the beach. The staff was at all times very friendly and attentive and the food was delicious and reasonably priced, therefore we did not bother to eat outside, We enjoyed our stay so much that we already decided to come back, next time with our two daughters (7 yrs and 10 yrs old)!

At the end of a long tour of Myanmar we knew we'd appreciate and enjoy some R&R so we had booked a 6 night extension, flying the short hop from Yangon to Ngapali to chill out for a few days on a nice beach with warm sunshine. The arrival at Ngapali Bay (and Aye Aye will remember this!) was somewhat traumatic as for a number of reasons we had presented ourselves at the Ngapali Beach hotel who knew nothing about us whilst Aye Aye was wondering where on earth we were … it took a few hours to resolve (inc. phone calls to London) with tour operator acknowledging their administrative error ! Anyway, we eventually arrived at Ngapali Bay to a caring, warm welcome from Aye Aye who truly is a credit to the hotel business - friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and helpful. It didn't take long to check-in after a refreshing greeting drink and we were taken to our villa (Number #7) where the holiday started after all the travelling … such a fantastic room greeted us - through saloon doors from the pathway, just past the small private swimming pool, shoes off and in we went - 4 poster bed with full mosquito netting, loads of space, side view to the ocean, free standing bath, separate shower room, comfy sofa to watch the TV (not a priority!) and free Wi-Fi. Each villa is allocated it's associated sunbeds and sunshade on the beach from which you can 'flag' if you need a drink or snack. Magical ! Excitedly we quickly found our bearings by a stroll around the hotel grounds - lush tropical vegetation (carefully manicured), ponds with fountains, pathway lighting, colourful arrays of hanging baskets and Villa #7 just a few paces away from a wonderful white sand beach. The restaurant area overlooking the beach/ocean (great for a sundowner, looking to the West) is elevated above the sand and is simply so decadent to enjoy a casual breakfast - a good selection of foods here with many regional dishes which we prefer though you can order more European hot items if you wish. The juices were also good, coffee variable so ask for the Americano and you get an individually brewed one which is strong/dark, possibly too strong for some. The only criticism, or perhaps call it a service improvement opportunity, we can make based on our experience is that the service at breakfast could be unpredictable with some orders 'mixed up' or simply forgotten and hot food arriving half way through the rest of the meal which was a bit irritating - easily remedied with training / process review and greater experience of the delightful staff.. Some comfortable sofas to the side face the sea and after breakfast we enjoyed casually reading the daily 'newspaper' produced by Bilal who is a very interesting chap to get into conversation with and does a great job in complementing Aye Aye. It is also a good place to enjoy a cold beer or cocktail - there is a draught Premier Mandalay beer or bottled Mandalay if your prefer that (I think bottled stays colder for longer and is more consistent) - Anthony the barman speaks excellent English and is really obliging and can make drinks to order and understands well the products he plies to guests. The beach is great - gently shelving and facing the sea to the right provides a fabulous run on the harder sand near the waters edge to the end and back of just 3 miles and can be much enjoyed - plenty people doing this on a daily basis but start early as the temperature soars. To the left there are a few beach stalls selling local craftwork and souvenirs. The 'town' itself is linear with bars / restaurants and shops lining a relatively busy beach road - Tuk Tuks are readily available but if you need one have a word with Aye Aye because she knows a good one ! The hotel has a lovely swimming pool which we only found on the last day so don't miss that one! In saying that we loved our little private pool and 'retired' there late afternoon to catch the last few sun rays from our sunbeds on the patio. We have fond memories of the Ngapali Bay, its staff and the whole experience of staying in such a wonderful, small hotel which provides personal service from the heart. Thank you all so much for making our holiday special and we hope that you are all keeping safe at this difficult time.

Had an incredibly enjoyable and relaxing week's holiday here. The rooms are spacious, very clean and tastefully decorated. Our plunge pool was cleaned frequently. The location is perfect, in the middle of a stunning beach with sunset views. Each villa has its own sun loungers and shade on the beach. The restaurant is perfectly located. The food was good quality in an evening. More expensive than a local restaurant but less than a restaurant in the UK. Breakfasts were extensive given the relatively small number of villas. The dishes from the a la carte menu were amongst the best breakfast dishes we've ever had - especially the smoked mackerel. The freshly baked breads were also delicious. Service in the restauarant and throughout the hotel was spot on.

My wife & I stayed here for 4 nights, and were very sad to leave. My congratulations to all at the hotel, at all times we found all the staff to be both friendly and professional and overall one of the best teams we have ever experienced. We used the Spa (a lot) and can highly recommend. Same for the restuarant. I have added some pictures of the Villa we had which was beach front with its own plunge pool. Overall a great stay and we will be back. Our best wishes to all at the hotel during the current coronovirus problem and lets hope for a quick return to normality.

I want to thank Tay Zar, Senior Spa Therapist at Ngapali Bay Villas & Spa, for these amazing back massages. I try to get a massage every time I travel in Asia! Mr. Tay Zar's are outstanding and are so worth to mention. I highly recommend having one when you stay at the paradise of Ngapali Bay Villas & Spa resort.

We had the most wonderful stay at Ngapali Villas and Spa. No complaints on anything from our side, our Villa, the restaurant, the beach, the Spa and mostly the friendliness and the service of all staff. We opted for a diving trip and this was also an amazing experience. Corals and many different fishes. We very much enjoyed this opportunity. The restaurant and the staff here is amazing, food is excellent. We loved it and hope to find an opportunity to go back

Ngapali Bay Villas & Spa is a beautiful paradise and has views that could be photoshopped if it wouldn’t be the real world. Especially the staff was friendly and was always trying to read every wish from your mind. However, Bilal who is working on the reception desk made our stay an outstanding experience. He gave us tips and wasn’t just friendly, he went often the extra mile to make our stay special. My girlfriend and me would recommend to look out for him to get tips that will make the difference. Also Phone and Anthony made a really good job and made our stay an unforgettable experience. Thank you Villas & Spa and thank you Bilal, Anthony and Phone for you good work :) We hope to see you guys soon. Daniel & Francesca

This was our fourth visit to this glorious hotel and we will be back. I've previously reviewed the stunning decor, the beautifully designed rooms (all with a sea view) and the glorious sunsets from a perfect location over a spectacular beach. It's all still as perfect now as before - the most idyllic beach resort we have found. But the main reason we intend to keep returning is the calibre of the people who work here. Yes, you may have to wait a few minutes here and there, but the service is genuine and sparkling: so a special mention to Anthony and his restaurant crew, including Thidar, May, Aye Aye, Su Myat, Yee and Ko Ko, plus Bilal and the ever efficient Aye Aye at front of house. Thank you and see you next time.

This is truly a gorgeous resort. The layout is gorgeous, well maintained. The decorations are all local artifacts and art. Our villa had a plunge pool and was right on the beach. The villa inside was gorgeous. Big, comfy king sized bed, massive wooden bathtub. Very comfortable, good air conditioning, lots of plugs in convenient places. His and her sinks, flip flops and a beach bag for our use. The spa was brilliant, lovely ambiance, music. Nice juice to start and then green tea and homemade cookies at the end. We had scrubs, facials and a massage. All very professional and would recommend. We really enjoyed the food. The kitchen is open, you can see the Chef cooking. Breakfast was a lovely buffet with an additional a la carte menu. We had dinner there 2 nights and everything we tried was well presented and delicious! Now the reason for the 4 instead of the 5. The service was ok, not bad but just ok. The staff often seemed rushed. One night we went to the bar to order food, the staff were overwhelmed and asked us to go back to our room and order. Every morning we would open our drapes to have a view of the ocean only to have to close them as the gardeners were working right outside of our window. Just in general, be prepared, we had amazing service everywhere else in Myanmar and found the service at this place not as warm and helpful

Dear Diane B thanks for your review. Firstly we are very happy that you appreciated and enjoyed the 'cuisine', the gardens, spacious villas and layout of the resort. We apologise for the mix up with the service. Its very unusual that our people get it wrong and must assume that it was a misunderstanding at a busy time. We always try and ensure that the service and contact between the guest and our people is personable natural and friendly. I think you can can see from the many positive and detailed reviews that our service is caring and reactive. Any way - perhaps we could put that right should you visit us again Warm regards for 2020 from all at NBVS and the beach C

From the moment we arrived we felt special. The greeting by reception staff especially Aye Aye is informative, welcoming and warm. We had a beach Villa with pool which was private, super comfortable and spacious. The beach is clean and secure, security ensure your belongings are safe and your privacy is free from sellers, total relaxation. The first 3 nights we ate dinner at various road side restaurants, personally all 3 dinners at 3 different places were cheap and rubbish. The final 3 nights we ate at the resort and wow that is what we came for. The chef's will cook to your taste and boy these guys can cook. The bar and waitress staff are super friendly and provide an impressive service standard, thank you Anthony, Win and others. We will definitely go back to this little slice of heaven!
