This is the in-between for serious campers and mild campers. Bring your own sheets and sleeping bags to put on the provided bed and bunk bed. Bring your own cooking supplies. For a non-tent campsite it’s great to be able to cook and have a campfire. It’s not luxurious but that’s not the point. It’s the location - inside and on The Valley floor. They have shower facilities and I’d argue with limited capacity due to covid it was nicer with less crowds.

It’s is noisy. So noisy. My friend and I have been coming constantly for the past ten years. Normally we love it. This year we had a higher ground river unit, we’re told our reservation there was canceled via robocall, 3 days into our stay, moved into an inland spot, and found that the water never rose higher than the nights we were at our original unit. Our new unit was in the middle of a reunion where people were screaming and yelling well into the night, despite rare passive reminders of quiet hours from staff. Today we’re at the beach, surrounded by another reunion who have taken over the beach and vacated river units, and screaming and blasting their stereo. You will not find peace here anymore. We used to love Housekeeping, and love the tranquility the park normally provides, and guests used to be considerate of others, but all of that is gone and quiet hours & noise levels are not really enforced.

Housekeeping camp is a mixed bag. It's the best of both worlds: lodging and camping. But it's neglected. Needs upgrades and upkeep. There's not even hot water to wash your hands in the bathroom. Yes, it's camping, but it costs over $100/night! I'd try it again, but but expect much.

I saw the pictures online and thought it looked great so I booked 2 nights. Those pictures must of been taken when the camp was first built because that’s not what’s there now! I booked a river front location, the site was no where near the river. Their explanation is that any site facing the river is considered river front (even though you can’t even see the river from the site). The site itself was just nasty! There was a condom on the floor, someone’s socks under the bed, layers of filth and dirt. The unit looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The fire pit was full of ash, I had to beg to have someone come out and clean it. The unit itself has a shared wall, so that means there is another group of campers directly behind you. How fun it was to hear their loud talking, swearing, laughing, and music all night! This place is one step above refugee camp - don’t be fooled by the pictures! It’s very crowded during the summer months, people and cars everywhere. If you do go, bring your own cleaning supplies, disinfectant, sheets, and ear plugs.

I went labor day weekend and it was our first time visiting. First off the front office staff especially Lorena is so rude. She has thee worst customer service skills. It seemed like she was angry that we were checking in. I work customer service and i would have been fired if anyone treated one of our customers the way she treated us. After getting a call that our spot was ready We drove to our location and I was shocked at the condition of our spot!! why is check in at 5pm when they don't clean it before the next guests arrive. I wish I had taken pictures but I was just in awe at what i had paid 345 for 3 nights. The top was sunk in and filthy the curtains had about 3 different sized hangers on each side and wouldn't close all the way. Thank goodness I brought extra tarps to cover for privacy or I wouldn't have had any. The table they provide was filthy and I don't want to talk about how dirty the floors were. I am happy I brought my own cleaning supplies that I was able to disinfect and clean as much as I could. I will say the ONLY positive things I can say about this place is that the bathrooms were constantly being stocked with toilet paper and toilet seat covers. They didn't clean them but they stocked at all times. This place was just very, very dirty and location looks NOTHING like the picture in their website. Overpriced for what you get.

I’ve been patronizing Housekeeping Camp since the 1960s. I love spending time in Yosemite. Unfortunately, Aramark is not doing a good job in keeping this lodging in satisfactory condition. The canvases are filthy and dilapidated. The paint is peeling off in large chunks on the interior walls. Half of the cabins are closed off due to ‘covid,’ yet the campers are crammed together into half the bathrooms. They defeat their own covid protocols by not keeping all the bathrooms open. Considering it is over $120 a night to stay there, the least Aramark could do is upgrade and maintain the cabins. The best part was that the showers were only open n to registered guests. That really cut down on the shower lines. But what was up with keeping the laundromat closed?

Housekeeping???? The irony in that name does not escape me. To say that the entire place needs to be cleaned is an understatement. I read the reviews before I left and prepared accordingly, I thought. This place wasn’t my first choice, but the High Sierra Camps weren’t a thing this year. So, I settled on Housekeeping, hoping that other people’s expectations and comfort levels were higher than mine and it would be fine. Everything I read was correct, this place is a train wreck. One would think that of all times in the history of Housekeeping Camp, during a pandemic, they would actually do some housekeeping and clean this joint.

The tent canvases have ten years' worth of mildew, and half of the hooks were broken or missing. Our tent looked as if it hadn't been swept out ever, it was filled with dried leaves, nut shells, bird feathers, and mice droppings. The mattress on the bed was equally as filthy. The bathrooms were only restocked once a day, so soap and tissue ran out. Bathroom floors were filthy like they were never mopped.

There was absolutely no oversight in the campground, so quiet hours are a joke. If you are planning to sleep, wake up early, and hike, then this is not the place for you. Loud parties every night into the early mornings. Forest fires are burning out of control in the park, and Housekeeping allows campfires???? That's fine if you have responsible campers; not fine when I see campfires so high the flames are licking the trees. Badly done Aramark.

At 4 p.m. (Thursday-day before checking out) I notified Concierge that our room had not been cleaned. I was informed that room would be serviced. At 8:30 p.m., I again informed Concierge that room still had not been cleaned. Concierge stated "he had done his job" and would again notify Housekeeping Dept. During this conversation, I did not appreciate Concierge's sarcasm and cockiness. Our room eventually was cleaned by 9;20 p.m. Having to ask for this service twice is considered very poor service.

I have camped my whole life. I am frustrated that loud music is allowed all day. If you talk to staff you are informed that if it is not quiet hours there's not anything they can do. Music should not be allowed. It's always one or two sites that blares their music and then shouts over it to be heard that ruins it for all the other campers. It isn't a coincidence that the loud sites have the loud people who don't care about any of the rules. Out of 7 nights, we had 2 quiet nights.
The cabins are filthy. It doesn't appear that they are ever cleaned. We were there a full week and never saw a cleaning crew between move ins and move outs. Leaves and a heavy layer of dirt covers the inside and outside floor. A bloody or poop covered napkin lay next to a trashcan the entire week I was there. We observed a young staff member simply look into the bear boxes, then walk thru the outdoor space and peek into the inside area between one family moving out and the next family moving in. They get away with it because it's Yosemite and there are few affordable options.
IS ANYONE LISTENING?

Terrific location. Everything else bottom tier. When you check in you sign a waiver acknowledging the danger of acquiring the Hanta virus, which is spread through the droppings of deer mice. I arrived at my filthy unit and within five minutes had two deer mice run right past my feet. The camp host stopped by my unit shortly thereafter. I pointed out the filthy condition and he said, not his department, but the units were rarely cleaned and, unless I was sleeping in a pile of deer mouse feces, I shouldn’t worry about the Hanta virus. He wouldn’t do anything to get the unit cleaned. Then I used the bathroom. Stalls filthy, with filth smeared all over walls and stall door. Talked to several other employees, nobody who would do anything about the filth. I ended up sleeping in my car that night and got a hotel outside the park for my second night. No refund. I also provided these details to Aramark when I received their survey request. I submitted that response weeks ago and not a word from them about this experience. I am 52 and have camped all over the country. This is my worst experience in all of those years. Really hard to believe this is the best we can do in our most famous national park.

August is not available to book yet. Pretty sure the earliest you can book is about 7 months in advance. I just booked 2 different weeks in May 2019.

I don't know the exact dimensions but I would say it's about the same as a full size bunk bed mattress which would be approximately 53 inches wide by 74 inches long by 6 inches high
