We had a two day layover in Honolulu and we ended up staying at the DoubleTree. For what we wanted this property was perfect. While the property wasn't on the beach it was close enough to everything we wanted to do. It is showing it's age and may not be for everyone. I suggest you book the junior suite as it is a decent size and made our stay better than a regular standard room.
We are veteran travelers and travel writers who return to this hotel for its ambiance, professional staff, quiet rooms away from the city bustle bit just a pleasant walk to Waikiki. Thebstaff can't do enough for guests. The rooms are spacious and meticulous. The art is unusually attractive for a mid-sized property. Management insists on friendliness and that trickles down. We love watching the birds out on the lanai, and hope to return to this welcoming, reasonably priced hotel. Variety of ethnic restaurants out the door. Chocolate chip cookies icing on the cake. Planning our fourth visit, as "lively senior travelers." Perfect fit, with spirit, elegance and no noisy partying. Guests all seem refined and respectful, another plus. We will be back again and again. Mahalo.
Stayed here on a Hilton Grand Vacations voucher. Wanted someplace closer to the beach/Waikiki action, but this is what they gave us. “Upgraded” to a suite with a partial ocean view for an extra $65 per night. Parking was a discounted $20 per night. The room was spacious, though the bathroom was small with no counter space. The bed was comfortable enough, though the pillows were mushy. The furniture was a bit threadbare. There was a balcony, but 1/2 the time we couldn’t go out on it because of loud neighbors smoking pot on their balcony. There is a cafe on premises called Hiking Hawaii, which was decent, but unaffiliated. We didn’t try “Trees” which is the hotel’s restaurant. The absolute worst part was the parking. There are three levels, not accessible from the hotel elevators. The spaces are tiny and nearly impossible to maneuver.…
WE have stayed quite a few times before, and this is a really nice hotel ,not too far from the beach, Hilton Village, and the Shopping Mall, so great location, The Hotel is really great value, and holds a lot of charm, The Staff are excellent, and up on arrrival was upgraded, with offer of top suite for few dollars more, which is fabulous room.Bar close a little early, but plenty of Ale house near by. Breakfast, great, and again except service, The rooms were spotless, and mil service first class. Is it the best Hotel in Honolulu? no , but must be one of the best value for money ones, thx saunders family.
If you need a not-so-nice hotel in Waikiki, this is fine. Rooms are dark and dreary, with cigarette smoke wafting in from other rooms’ decks. It’s a small hotel and really doesn’t have many amenities. Staff weren’t very welcoming.
