Hotel is at the quiet end of Kapiolani Park, very close to Diamond Head loop for run or walk in the morning. I booked panoramic oceanfront room (with wrapped around lanai on both sides) before travel picked up at a good price. By the time I arrived, prices have almost doubled. When I checked in I was given oceanfront room (wrapped around lanai with only direct ocean view, the second side does not have floor to ceiling window because that was where the bed headboard was). Outside on the second side of the lanai there is no mountain view either because it is next to the wall of the neighbor room. I was told hotel is fully booked and there is a maintenance issue of the room they were going to put me in. The maintenance contractor does not work on Friday (the day I checked in) and won't return until Monday. I was told to put up with the lower-grade room for 3 nights and then upgraded to the suite for 2 nights. I persisted that I booked panoramic oceanfront room. It took the front desk one hour and two phone calls to finally put me in a panoramic oceanfront room. The hotel also does not provide complimentary hospitality room for late check out. They said they would charge 1/2 price of regular rate for late check out. They said that due to the first day's snafu they gave me a complimentary hospitality room until 6PM. My room has beautiful view but furnishings are tire. The dresser and all wood work in the room are old and chipped. Bedskirt and carpet is stained at places. The first room that was given to us has crack in the sink. There is only one hook for towel. The towel rack in front of the sink is too low for bath towels. It only accommodates hand and face towels. Hallway wall are blemished with luggage marks almost everywhere on 8th floor. Hallway carpet is torn especially where carpet seams are. Hotel had ads and internet articles of redecoration but that is only for the lobby and the suites. Everywhere else it is tired looking. Hau Tree restaurant has a nice ambience and perfect location for sunsets. We had brunch once and dinner three times. Our local friend's egg benedict was too runny even when she ordered she specifically said medium. The waiter then offered to give our friend hard-boiled eggs instead. The price of egg benedict was $23. We like steamed mahi the best, then grilled kanpachi. The flank steak was very salty. Prices are comparable to most hotels & moderate priced restaurants. However, portions are very small like appetizers.…
Straightforward, gracious and relaxed atmosphere with a great balance of elegance and class. The beach is perfectly situated at the end of the stretch of beaches making up the area and has a low key, local vibe. I found rooms food and service excellent.
Although we only stayed for one night, Kaimana was great. Close to everything and easily walkable to the beach right out back. We stayed in a 1 bedroom facing Diamond Head. The morning sunset was gorgeous coming up. The staff is excellent. Everyone was so kind, helpful, and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Justin was especially helpful getting us settled. He went above and beyond to find my daughters lost toy we left behind after we checked out to head to stay on the north shore for a week. He even offered to bring it to us, but luckily we had family that lived near that could get it for us. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.
Hotel was right near Waikiki but away from the chaos and great set up and environment. Beach assess was right there and the benefit of towels, bicycles, chairs and surf boards was a huge plus. Parking was no problem Wallet was awesome and the staff helped us out whenever needed. Hopefully Ill see you guys again
Location was excellent--a bit away from the hubba-hubba of most of Wikeke. Had a relaxing four-night stay here; they even had a half-day rate for those with late evening planes. Front desk staff very helpful.
