We were on a Wait List for 2 years through RCI to get this reservation. Evidently the Hilton Properties look down on RCI bookings. We were told we could not have a view unit through RCI bookings. We were put in the back of the resort, over the street. Due to COVID, restaurants were closed,(even though most of Honolulu had open restaurants) only 2 pools were open & filled quickly to capacity, no Friday night Fireworks. BUT, they still charged the full resort fee of $40 per day. Not worth it!
The Hilton Hawaiian Village offers everything as well as being near shops, restaurants, Hawaiian Culture and History. You can get away to the North Shore, see Whales on the Eastpoint and visit one the most significant Sites in American History.
We loved our stay at the Grand Waikikian ! our room 2101 was perfect. The staff was great, every request was acted upon quickly and with a smile. The grounds were well kept. Anything we needed was a call away. We even extended our stay because everything was so perfect. Can't wait to go back.
We’re here over the holidays 2020-2021. First, COVID procedures: the hotel is doing a B+ job. Honolulu/Hawaii is an A+, but the hotel isn’t strictly enforcing procedures. There are signs everywhere telling people to mask & distance, but nobody is actually telling people to do it if they’re not complying. This seems to be a hospitality issue in general. The policies are perfect, but the enforcement is lacking. The exception is the big pool. The hotel is limiting people in the big pool, which is great. No same limitations in the other pools. Speaking of pools, the water temps are FREEZING. Easily colder than the ocean itself. Not sure how this is even possible. We’re joking that this is how the hotel is keeping crowds down, by keeping pool water temps so cold. We have a 1BR partial ocean view room in the Grand Waikikian. The room itself is really great. Spacious and updated, with plenty of room for a family of 4 with small kids. The hotel’s definition of “partial ocean view” is apparently left up to the imagination. Really deceiving and I’m upset that the hotel advertises this way. I complained about the deception, but they don’t care. Do not bother wasting your money to upgrade to a partial ocean view - you won’t be able to see anything from your room and just a tiny sliver from the balcony. Other than the trickery, we’re happy with the room. There’s a full kitchen with cookware, plus a washer and dryer in the room. The bathtub is in the bedroom, which is just weird and annoying (kids splashing all over the bed), but not a huge deal. The shower is in the bathroom itself. The resort is huge. It’s part of the Hilton Hawaiian Village and you have full access to the resort. There are several restaurants and food stands, but many are closed right now due to COVID. Between what’s open though, nearby (walkable) restaurants, and a small grocery store that’s within walking distance, we have no complaints. If you come during COVID, be aware that some of the activities like the kids club, fireworks, and water slides are closed - at least they were while we’re here. No complaints about this, just sharing information. Overall, this is a great place to stay. We hear it can get quite crowded under normal circumstances, but we’re good with the size of crowds right now. The hotel staff is friendly and kind. We plan to come back someday, knowing some of the small pitfalls to be aware of next time.…
This was a great resort. It's my 2nd time coming to Hawai'i. I had a partial ocean view. Plus mountain view. I enjoyed it very much. I highly recommend staying here. Anyone would have a great time, with friends, family, and everyone.
