I love this hotel. I’m a regular person and this is an expensive, lavish hotel but I love staying there. The rooms are nice but the view from your beach side room, the walk through the opulent lobby to the restaurants or shops, the beach! are all pretty fabulous. There are a lot of great hotels on Waikiki Beach but I keep coming back to the Royal Hawaiian.
Overall a good stay. The housekeeping staff were terrific and very accommodating with us sleeping in. I will also say that this was the most comfortable bed that I have slept in. The Surf Lani and Mai Tai Bars were also excellent. As a Titanium Elite member they gave us a discount for breakfast and the views of Diamond Head were great. I was unhappy with was the pool/ beach area however. At 2 pm we tried to get chairs by the half empty pool and we were told they were ‘full’ by the pool staff. So after 10 mins I took a reserved sign of a pool chair and was yelled at by the the male attendant saying ‘it was reserved’ !We left for the beach. When we returned 1 hour later the same sign was on the chairs . Management : find a fix on how to deal with unused pool chairs !!!! It is a very small pool area .I travel 200 days of the year and could give you some suggestions. And please tell your staff not to raise their voice to customers.…
It was on my bucket list to stop at The Royal Hawaiian and we we stayed there a few weeks back after a cruise. The front desk staff and others were all super friendly. We stayed in the historic wing in a large room but v small bathroom. Just after arrival, we see that Hallmark are filming in and around the hotel with several areas off limits throughout our stay. They were also filming on our floor. The coffee place closes at mid day. Bar area is general, public area and as its on the beach, you can end up in a line to go there. Restaurant is only open a few days per week. And finally, the pool was closed. The main entrance area and beautiful gardens definitely have a 5 star vibe but the rest is lacking in terms of facilities for those staying at the hotel.
Our rooms were comfortable and beautifully appointed. The hotel is massive with many hallways and rooms. It can feel a little impersonal due to this. We were pleasantly surprised to be able to use the facilities at the Sheraton next door as the kids loved the waterslide and pool there. The food was enjoyable and the restaurant right near the beach was beautiful in the evening. A lovely touch is the Easter Egg hunt they put on for the children. It was well thought out with lanes for each age group so the little ones didn't miss out.
We recently stayed here for our vacation to Hawaii and the hotel is just beautiful. Our room in the historic section of the hotel was great, we loved our room and housekeeping was wonderful, notably Lourdes. A few observations however will hopefully improve visits from future guests, first the front desk associates and workers at the hotel are very business like and not all that welcoming. They greet you with a lei but it’s not a very warm welcome. The pool was under renovation which was fine, we were told we could use the pool next door at the Sheraton. We could not swim at all on our vacation because the main pool at the Sheraton is freezing and there are so many screaming kids, so that was out. There is an adult infinity pool but we were told we were not allowed to use that one. The only place to really eat at the hotel is the Mai Tai. A very limited menu. I think Surf Lanai should be opened for lunch and dinner as well so that it gives your guests. Choice of eating venues. Not everyone can afford to eat at Azure which is way over priced. We were also there when a film crew was filming for a Hallmark movie. This was a bit inconvenient for your guests and it should have been roped or blocked off. Instead the film crew was quite rude telling guests where they could walk and could not walk and they were telling the guests to keep quiet and whisper when talking. This isn’t right. Block the area off next time. Please also place larger size trash cans in your guest rooms. They don’t contain much garbage at all. On the overall, a nice stay in a beautiful hotel. This hotel does take a beating because of so many guests, so I hope maintenance is on top of everything on a daily basis. Thank you.…
